Probably because most people who do the covers don't have rock organs? And to be fair, midi beeps and boops are hardly clear-cut as to what the real instrument would be. Those notes do sound guitar-ish and they do sound awesome as a long-ass electric guitar solo.
@@MBOmnis You can literally see what each instrument is meant to be from the MIDI files, and you can also examine and play the instrument tracks individually. And the original MIDI files are not that hard to find. So most of the stuff said here except the initial comment are kind of invalid.
Yes yes we get it, the doomslaya is le cool invincible antihero. But guess what? This is not nu-doom the OG doomguy was a normal soldier giving his best to survive.
@DSX147 You can also get Doom 2 on X Box Live, now. It comes with the level expansion pack and achievements like RIP AND TEAR, MAN AND A HALF, and YOU HAVE HUGE GUTS.
I find it weird how a lot of the UA-cam uploads of this track have cut off hi hats, especialy the SC55 versions. Probably a pet peeve of mine, but it is so satisfying to hear them in full as opposed to those short blips. Is the innacuracy caused by emulation? Or does it occur on real hardware?
ladies and gens what your about to hear that's playing is a general standard, extended general midi /extended general midi lite or general midi version that Robert prince did.
Since Doom 4 is taking place on earth like doom 2 did than the first level of Doom 4 should have a remastered version of this theme not a remix more like a clearer and addtional UMMPF to the bass
something I feel is lost in remixes of this song is that people always use an electric guitar for what is pretty clearly meant to be a rock organ.

Check this one.

It is very faithful to original one.
@@MBOmnis The standard midi soundfont is sampled from real instruments
@@MyScorpion42 Yes but with the audio quality so reduced, it's not so easy to figure out where each sound came from.

Universal theme of: "why doesn't my mod work?"
me downloading the .wad instead of the .pk3:
Doomguy never runs from evil - he circle-strafes it instead! :D

@@llamadasinrespuesta4631 Yeah but he beated a giant robotic demon, a giant robotic spider, the mother of all demons and the freaking Icon of Sin.
Doom is the only game that has ever made me wait by the end of the level until the music finished.

Than it is for you.

So many good remixes of this song, but nothing can beat the original.

I do.

EVERYONE RISE, FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM OF DOOM MODDERS, EVERYWHERE
you can really tell they wanted to out-do E1M1 from Doom
And while they didn't quite out-do it, it's still a very very close second imo
@@Real_RUBB3R E1M1 is definitely iconic but MAP01 outdid it IMO.
Hangar 18 :).
Also, the flowing solo at the end is marvelous despite it's simplicity. Trying to cover it right now.
How many memories in my mind... How many hours spent with this music !!!
Great tune to start off the game DOOM II also used on map 15 Industrial Zone which takes a little more time beat in my view. :)
I wish i played this game when i was younger, such an awesome theme. its sooo eerie
better than At Doom's Gate imo.
Agreed
playing Industrial Zone with this music was the best
No problem. It was what I was aiming for.
You got the Chainsaw. Find some meat!
Kinda funny how its named running from evil but you re running towards evil, lol
You are the evil
The Roland Sound Canvas way. Love it!
Doom forever, ZDaemon for life!
Remixes just can't top the original. I didn't want to leave this level the first time I played doom 2.

One year later: So the cymbal crashes are unintended and are supposed to be muffled/dampened in the sc55 recordings.
this should be the theme song of doom 2 imo
I think this song describes Doom2 and is very well known
finally the original version all i have been hearing was fake versions
There is no good outcome from a house fire
For me I'm bias to the ps1 atmospheric lost world sound track that was similar to doom 64. Than the perky original ost.
Drummer is genius :)
D2m1 FFA or 1-on-1 with this track any day
The fact the Thumbnail is level 1 in DooM 2
Because it's the level where this song plays
