LOL the only Fiyero I wanted was someone who wasn't a Jonas Brother. But yeah I literally screamed (in a good way) when I found out he was cast because like a lot of people I fell in love with him in Bridgerton (and interviews and BTS videos and then watched his entire body of work...).
His audition was really good but I actually got to see him on stage for this and he was even better! I'm pretty bummed I didn't manage to see him in Company a couple of years back, he actually won the Olivier for it so I can only imagine how amazing he was in it.
But, like, if this is his starting point, before the creative team has even really worked with him, I can only imagine the incredible things he'll do once he gets on stage. I'm very jealous of you and anyone else who got to see him in this.
I got to see him in Company. He was amazing. I didn’t know who he was at the time. I recently put it together after watching Bridgerton. I wish I could see the Company revival again. It was so freaking good. Hopefully it’ll get booted back up in NYC as planned!
i literally cannot explain it but im obsessed with that last verse and the way he sings "trip us or trap us but we refuse to fall" and particularly his vibrato on "fall", my god it gives me chills
I got to say his acting is freaking fantastic. I think my favourite part is when he says 'I won't fail so you're comfortable Cathy' realises he might have hurt her, starts walking away and then decides that no he's too angry to let it go and comes back to tell her the line that breaks my heart every time 'I won't loose because you can't win'. Cause how ever many times he says he believes in her, he will still say that to her cause he doesn't actually have the ability to keep believing and keep supporting her.
He drops his eyes on 'win" and it's really remarkable/subtle acting wise, whether its to convey slight cowardice to Cathy in delivering that scathing thought, or an inward realization for Jamie.
Still can't believe my sister and I saw Jonathan Bailey and Samantha Barks in TL5Y, sitting on the front row, for just £5! Bargain of the century. Oh, and he was SO good in Company on the West End too.
If you want to watch Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton) sing, He was on a Disney show called The Lodge, which was a musical where he did A LOT of singing. There is also a cover of him singing a duet cover of "Rewrite the Stars" with another singer, but I don't remember her name. There. Now you have options :)
I just wanted to leave a comment to say that my four month old baby loves you. I watch your videos on the TV and when you come on the screen he breaks into the biggest smile and just wants to look at you. He hasn't got to meet many people because of the pandemic, so I think you're one of his best friends.
@Faceless Oh, dear lord. I did not know that was something a person could do. I think you may be in a very small minority. Jeremy Jordan can make me cry with just a few notes. He's my favorite.
I sang this song for a talent show years ago and used his performance as inspiration! His performance in The Last 5 Years has always struck me; he’s such an inspiration. I’m glad people are getting to know him and his talent is reaching new audiences.
TL5Y is my favorite musical, and it’s because of the nuance of Jamie and Cathy’s characters. Their songs express a lot about who they are, where they’re at in life and with their emotions, their flaws, and most interestingly to me, why their relationship is destined to fail, considering the two angles they are coming from and how impossible it becomes for those to be reconciled. Yet despite the deep flaws they are shown to possess throughout the movie (I’m looking very largely at you, Jamie), I still want both Jamie and Cathy to be happy, we just know that it won’t be with each other. Ugh I love it.
I was a psych/sociology major and focused primarily on relationships and communication within them so to me this musical is fascinating. The way the whole relationship breaks down is so realistic and interesting. I believe it’s actually based in some part off the writer’s own life too so it’s pretty real
This is him reminding everyone hes not just an actor ...and reminding everyone he'd be amazing for the bridgerton musical! Hannah can I just say thank you! Im so happy i found you on UA-cam,you like the same music as me and have introduced me into so many amazing new artists ,plus your making me start singing again. I had covid last year ,mild and long hauler and been off and not been able to sleep at nights and your page makes me smile, and im sure you make so many smile and been a breath of fresh air in this pandemic. Thank you for making the nights i cant sleep a little easier :)
I love your thoughts on Jamie! It took me a long time and many re-listens, I started to realize that Cathy's insistence on living vicariously through Jamie and his success was weighing on Jamie. Cathy made Jamie her whole life and then began resenting him for it. That would be incredibly frustrating for anyone, but especially for Jamie, who feels like he doesn't have any control over his own life. They're both incredibly compelling characters, which is why the musical works so well!
He is indeed an excellent performer. Three years ago he also won an Olivier (which corresponds to the American Tony Award) as Best Supporting Actor in a Musical.
i love what you said about the musical. the thing about the last 5 years is that it can change so much depending on the acting choices that both actors make. I've seen different versions with different casts and come away with different takes. the material just allows that, and it's beautiful
Omg this made me want to cry! I’d love more info about releasing tongue tension. I feel like this is a problem for me. Hoping to book a session with you soon!
Not only do I appreciate your commentary on technique - there are far too many UA-cam vocal coaches that have no business advising or coaching -- you are a true musical thater nerd and I LOVE that. Thank you!
Please, please, please dont think that I'm discrediting anything that you've said in this video, but I literally could not take my eyes off of your lipstick. It is fire. So pretty. And, as always, your reactions are spot on 👍
The Last Five Years is my all time favourite musical, and you're right: Jamie has some incredible songs. I could watch clips like this forever and die happy lol
God I feel like my game interests and musical theatre interests is colliding... Jonathan Bailey’s probably most known for Bridgerton right now but I know him as the Crystal Exarch and (Spoiler Character) from Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers... And we’re all hoping he sings in the game too!!
I think you’d have a lot to talk about regarding certain song performances in the cartoon Steven Universe. It attracted a lot of vocal talent during its run. From Estelle to Patti Lupone to Kate Micucci to Lisa Hannigan. Some former Glee actors, A Broadway vocalist on the main cast(and another in the movie), and some well-directed amateurs thrown in for good measure.
i really get so happy when you post a video right when i get a rest between the studies, it's like you refil my energy, thank you so much (sry if i wrote something wrong im from brazil)
I would love to see you react to ALW’s Cinderella! There’s only 3 songs released as of right now but I love them all so much; their voices are stunning!
i know this is somewhat unrelated to the content of the video, but i just wanted to say i LOVE your fashion style and aesthetic! i love your dress (blouse?) - it’s so pretty 🥺
Jonathan pretty much stole the show for me as Jamie in Company in the West End a couple of years ago! He completely deserved the Olivier that he got for that role. I just hope that he still has some time to do stage work now he is finally making a name for himself on the screen.
If you haven't reacted to her yet, Reinaeiry is a singer, she actually has done a collab with Annapastu. Her voice is absolutely beautiful, I think you'd like her :D
You should definitely listen to the Bridgerton Bros singing "Can't Help Falling in Love", it's 30 seconds but its amazing. Also, Luke Newton, Regé-Jean Page, and Claudia Jessie are so talented
Jonathan Is Soo Good Sings / Living this Song! Jonathan Is So Powerful in His Performance, it almost drives me insane! I Love ❤ Jonathan Bailey So Much, Can Somebody Tell me how to deal with these Powerful Feelings! 💗
My best brag is that he’s from my village (so is Charlie Brooker) and my parents used to go round his parents’ house for dinner :) he used to drink at the pub next door my house too
If there are any videos of him in 'Company' I highly recommend it (especially Not Getting Married Today)! One of the best live performances I've seen!!
So the four chords following "cause you can't win" at 8:52 as well as at the end are the same opening chords from Still Hurting, right? Incredible connection between these two powerful songs.
You should definitely react to Pentatonix; they're an acapella group. Some Pentaholic (fan base name) favorites are Hallelujah, Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Sound of Silence They won Grammy's for: Daft Punk; Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy; and Jolene ft. Dolly Parton I do recommend you do some basic research about about the members before listening. Only one member has been changed (and it was done on good terms). The old member who does bass is Avi Kaplan and the new member who does bass is Matt Sallee. Love your reactions 💕
After watching him in season 2 of Bridgerton and falling in love with him, this made me fall even more 😜
He is gay
I didn't even realize this was him! His American accent is so good!
@@megnanimous. it’s trippy to hear him with the American accent though! Haha
@@annabuhler4871 It is! I had to Google him to make sure he was British! Maybe they'll actually make that Bridgerton musical! He'd be perfect!
@@megnanimous. I had the same thought about him being part of the musical!
it is safe to say that at least half of the world is in love with Johnny Bailey
And only half of that half have a chance. Pour one for the girls…
Johnathan Bailey is not the Fiyero we wanted, but the Fiyero we needed
YEUP. He's gonna be amazing!!!

So this is an audition? Holy crap!! Imagine that talent walking in cold??!!
Jonathan won an Olivier award (British version of a Tony) for his role as Jamie (genderbent Amy) in Company!
Just revisiting every Jonathan Bailey video again after binging Bridgerton season 2.
Mood
Same!
wow... he can SING. he can ACT. he just can.
i literally cannot explain it but im obsessed with that last verse and the way he sings "trip us or trap us but we refuse to fall" and particularly his vibrato on "fall", my god it gives me chills
Ok, but am I the only one who loves the editor's little notes/ comments? I don't know why, but I find them so funny lol
Does she live in London?
Girl I got CHILLS at the end there.. I also felt so awkward when he yelled "Please!" because the acting was so good, forgot this was a performance.
I’d imagine the “convincing” A vowel was to help aid his American accent
I think he noticed the mistake the second he did it
He is soooooooo good! His eyes talk volumes. Love him!!!
i’m so obsessed with him he is just an EXCELLENT performer and seems like such a great person ahhhh. i would just like to give him a hug, ya know?
I HAVE THE SAME THOUGHTS ABOUT L5Y!!! The songs just have so much emotions in them! I love the feels! 😄😄😄
Eyyy what’s up man! Great work on your channel!
CLARK DUDE hi this is cool
omg clark on stage

With Bridgerton season 2 I got to truly see the amazing actor he is. And now, he can sing too!
yay! im so glad you finally did this!
Also. Give that British editor a raise.
I fell in love with him season 2. The scene with Katie and the Bee had me weeeeeping!
YES! Ugh, Jonathan Bailey is so good!
*ahem* Jeremy Jordan did a version of the Last Five Years too *wink wink*
@Rob Z me too
@Faceless ...
@Faceless Oh, dear lord. I did not know that was something a person could do. I think you may be in a very small minority. Jeremy Jordan can make me cry with just a few notes. He's my favorite.
@Faceless sorry..... huh?
I- i just dont understand how-
HUH??😂
He started in the movie and was amazing 🥰
Your jaw drop after his “PLEASE!” is the biggest mood
I'm actually so confused as to why no one liked Anthony in season 1 because he was instantly my favorite character. Can someone please explain?
WHY DID I NOT KNOW HE COULD SING?!! NOW I’M EVEN MORE IN LOVE 🥰
Anyone else re-watching this after funding out he's playing Fiyero in the new Wicked movie?
I sang this song for a talent show years ago and used his performance as inspiration! His performance in The Last 5 Years has always struck me; he’s such an inspiration. I’m glad people are getting to know him and his talent is reaching new audiences.
The British Editor is the besstttt

I LOVE the last five years... Jonathan Bailey did it so well I love this song and just ugh everything
I fell in love with Anthony after season 2 lol Jonathon is so sweet and amazing and talented!
There are no videos that I can find but Jonathan Bailey doing "Not Getting Married Today" from Company is the best thing ever.
I love your thoughts on Jamie! It took me a long time and many re-listens, I started to realize that Cathy's insistence on living vicariously through Jamie and his success was weighing on Jamie. He won the Olivier for the company revival in 2019 (i.e. the west end tony award)- SO Talented

I love when Hannah gets quiet and just watches, that's when you know its good. "I'm still holding my tea..." 😂
About a year ago I found out that Groove High (a show I used to LOVE when I was younger) starred Jonathan Bailey and Samantha Barks 🙃
He was FANTASTIC in Company!
Oh! My heart. What an amazing voice. Bless him. ❤💞❤ cannot get enough of him and Simone. Love
Not only do I appreciate your commentary on technique - there are far too many UA-cam vocal coaches that have no business advising or coaching -- you are a true musical thater nerd and I LOVE that. Thank you!
Love his voice

Finally an opportunity to suggest "THE NEXT TEN MINUTES" by SKYLAR ASTIN and SHOSHANA BEAN ♥
The Last Five Years is my all time favourite musical, and you're right: Jamie has some incredible songs. I could watch clips like this forever and die happy lol
I absolutely love your videos/style of teaching, it's actually soooooo helpful to me, so thank you so much ❤
God I feel like my game interests and musical theatre interests is colliding... Jonathan Bailey’s probably most known for Bridgerton right now but I know him as the Crystal Exarch and (Spoiler Character) from Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers... And we’re all hoping he sings in the game too!!
you should totally react to the movie the last five years with jeremy jordan and anna kendrick!
I think you’d have a lot to talk about regarding certain song performances in the cartoon Steven Universe. It attracted a lot of vocal talent during its run. "come over and we can release some tension". 😊

Oh no this musical always makes me cry!
I was just watching his audition the other day and when I saw this i was like "okay babe, let's cry together."
Jonathan pretty much stole the show for me as Jamie in Company in the West End a couple of years ago! He completely deserved the Olivier that he got for that role. I just hope that he still has some time to do stage work now he is finally making a name for himself on the screen.

YES I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Why am I crying through a reaction. I cry no matter when or where I hear these songs.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
Please react to Made of Stone from The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Michael Arden has the voice of an ANGEL 😍
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call acting. Wow.
Can we appreciate how well he is singing in an american accent!?
Can you react to Anthony Cipriano singing Breathe from In the Heights?? He is amazing!
Can we just talk about the fact that Nobody needs to know was taken right from the Last 5 Years into Hamilton? When I realized that I was like... 🥺
Omg wait you are right
My best brag is that he’s from my village (so is Charlie Brooker) and my parents used to go round his parents’ house for dinner :) he used to drink at the pub next door my house too

“I had no idea he was into musical theatre” sweetly, look at his Wiki’s Personal Life section
Would absolutely recommend Jai’Len Josey’s Broadway bucket list! She’s superb!!
So the four chords following "cause you can't win" at 8:52 as well as at the end are the same opening chords from Still Hurting, right? Incredible connection between these two powerful songs.

Along the Bridgeton actors can actually sing genre, you HAVE to listen to Luke Newton duet Shallow with Emily Juniper. It's soooo good!
You are just so pretty 🦋!
