Awesome finds in that spot, Joe! The area to the north of there isn’t fractured quite as much. So much harder to work with. The cube formations are so cool looking! 😍
I hunt for calsite crystals quite often, and I have found a boat load of really nice pieces. Once you know what you're looking for, they pop out like golden eggs.😊😊😊 I have some that are almost seen through. I have some that are blue on the inside. I have some that are the size of grapefruits, baseball, and golf balls.😊
I found a handful of the dogtooth ones, but I didn't really include them in the video. I think it's neat how they can form in different ways too! I always think of the Borg from Star Trek when I see the cubes. Ha!
Wow, those are awesome, I learned a lot about crystals, from the crystal collector , Bryan Major,on the UA-cam channel, I've found over 3 hundred lbs of crystals, but those has me beat
Thanks!! I've learned a lot from Bryan's channel as well. A lot of great content on there! Also, several other rockhounders who have channels have helped, and even meeting people in person, and especially me just getting in and doing it, messing up, then doing it better afterwards. Experience is often the best teacher. Someone can tell or show me something, but when I try to do it, then it seems like the lightbulb clicks for me a little better. Like it's an "Ah-ha!" kind of moment. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to start up my own channel, to show that if someone like me can do it, whoever watches certainly can too. 👍🏻
hay Joe I have stopped a few times in these road cuts on my way visit family in Missouri but I've only look on the face and have not look at the sides. I'm happy to see some awesome peaces coming out of them. know I'm excited to look again this video have gave me some good information thank you. love your work.
Thanks, Tony!! I am thinking of trying it again in the next few days. I left a nice pocket there and I want to see if it's still there or not and bring a few better tools with me for extracting some of those deeper pockets. That first half of this video is from a road cut on the northbound side, and the southbound side is towards the end. I got better color and big crystals on the southbound side, but parking was easier/safer on the northbound side (at this particular spot, that is).
Thanks so much! This was an exploratory trip so it took me a minute to figure out what I was doing. I think I have a better idea as to what to do for the next time I am able to make it over there.
Hello, Donnie! This is one of the road cuts off of 49 about 3 miles north of the Arkansas and Missouri border. I tried both the northbound and the southbound sides, directly across from each other on both sides of the highway. There are several road cuts to choose from there, and they should all have similar material with the calcite. The brown is supposed to glow under a UV light, btw.
That piece with the mountain range is my favorite.😊😮

Dude! That was some amazing Calcite find 😍 The sound the rocks make while falling down was so amazing🤩Great day for you!
Great spot 👍🏼 I love how many different forms calcite crystals take. I rarely find the cubes here. Mostly dogtooth where I’m at
