Overpowering sound is overrated and FAR too many people do it! You need a proper sound person to set it up for you. Even with that little system. Wish I was close to do it for you! We're to far and there's the Johnny Walker sampling session here as well.
Great gig at St Luke’s in Glasgow on Monday. Loved seeing and hearing your magnificent Martin acoustic. The acoustic set was a great start to the evening, followed by the full band after the break. Can I say hearing the album live made it come to life. Fantastic night and I look forward to the next time you head up to Scotland.
Just got home on the Isle of Wight last ferry after seeing you and your great band at The Joiners with my musician pal from Salisbury. Just brilliant! First heard you a long time ago singing Dreams for Rick Beato. Looking forward to seeing you again and hearing your sublime voice. A great night out at your last show of the current tour.
Thanks for this. Mary, I love hearing you play and sing! I have spent the better part of 50+ years playing and performing and talent like yours is a joy for me to hear. Although the current world situation looks a bit dicey, having people like you in music gives me great hope for the future- keep up the good work!!
More of this please Mary! You Tube is full of gear reviewers, most look like they’re locked in a basement and never get out. So refreshing to see an awesome musician actually using the gear they review in a live setting!!
"The ancient Greeks had a deep understanding of the human condition, including the anxiety that comes with performing. Additionally, the Greeks believed in the concept of “catharsis,” which is the emotional release experienced by both the audience and the performers during a play. This process was thought to be therapeutic, helping to alleviate the stress and anxiety associated with performing." Simply put Mary nervousness is natural and I believe works in your favor. It creates a focusing force and you do it so well. Great video, best of luck on tour. Cheers luv !
I was at your Cambridge gig last night. Particularly impressed with the acoustic set in which the singing guitar tone and guitar playing were first class. Also great stage presence. Lovely evening
Sounding amazing, I love that cord run nice and clean and that guitars tone is just wow with no pedals on it.. its ok to be nervous, that means you care about how you do just don't let it sink you.. let it push you to be even more amazing!!
Caught the Birmingham show last night, it was outstanding. You and the band absolutely nailed it and your vocals were sublime. It was amazing to see you live after years on UA-cam. Keep doing your own thing, turns out your pretty good at it ❤❤
It's been a while since I've played live with a band, but there was never a time when I wasn't nervous before a show. I think it's the nerves and fear of screwing up that actually helps us try to be our best when performing.
Must be nerve wracking to play to such a polite attentive audience! When I do my occasional live forays at my local bar my audience is already three sheets to the wind, which helps considerably!! Anyway good luck with the tour Mary you are very talented.
For sure - when I was playing alot of open mics I would always try to play about halfway thru the night so that people weren't either too sober and attentive or too drunk to even listen, lol
Love these portable PA solutions! It's great to have the real life use discussed. The contemplation of what to bring is so familiar to many of us! Great video Mary!
There’s a happy Italian guy (well, a 54yo guy) who’s definitely excited at the idea of landing in Manchester tomorrow, get lost in the airport and finally head for Brudenell Social Club in Leeds❤ please warn the merch to consider one vinyl reserved
A friend of mine has something similar to this now. She used to drag around a whole collection of kit, and seeing as neither she or her partner drive, it was a huge problem. As s singer/songwriter herself, her needs are pretty simple; all she needs to take is her guitar, her mic and her powered speaker and a couple of stands. Between them, she and her partner get everywhere they need to go using public transport. If it's a bigger event where production is provided, she takes her mic and her guitar. A hulk of a PA is nice, but it's not really necessary for 99% of what she and many singer/songwriters need. On the topic of volume, a lot of small portable PAs are incredibly loud, but don't sound very good. I haven't heard this particular LD unit first-hand, but I have heard and worked with a number of LD products, and all of them have exceeded expectations given their price point. They're very good value.
That is a piece of gear that might work for me! Wonderful to see good reviews from your venues... yeah, I checked. The pub clip is perfect! Looks to be just like home here in Minneapolis. My little geezer group Graybeard, played a real rural Roadhouse some years back... usually just churches and such, but I cannot forget, at minus 1.6C the house was packed to the rafters. Warm hearts turn out for charity donation gigs. There is so much venue opportunity in our Metro... and state, some truly amazing performers never look beyond our borders to tour. Thanks!
did i notice a little bit of a jaded attitude about UA-cam as opposed to playing from one of your interviewees recently: but not you, because you are generous and brilliant.
O er touring the UK right now and hope to catch a show and bring some of my fellow coachmates as well. Hopefully, the stars and moon align with one of our stops!
Hehe.. cool to see you play part of your acoustic set from Friday. Amp looks cool, and I surprised it has so many features for that sort of price. Thanks for sharing.
Have you considered changing the guitar stand for the Tour? I keep going back to what happened on Friday and I just fear it could happen again? The three guitars on that tripod type shape guitar stand, if you take one off, surely it becomes unbalanced? I'd hate to see another guitar break as a result of it. You did handle it very well I have to admit. And it was a great performance.
Mary, I was looking for tracks to add to my headphone test playlist and thought I'd try your album on Tidal. Getaway Sun and I'll Stay Quiet have been added. Such a well engineered album, better than some of the mainstream albums I'm hearing these days on Tidal.
Sounded really good. I recently played a outdoor party for my friend, it was a lot of fun. I brought a powered pa head and two small speakers a guitar amp and my electric guitar. I put amp and speakers on chairs just like you did, lol. It went really well, I was nervous at first but as I got into it nerves were gone and I felt really confident and really start to get into it. It was really cool doing a solo gig, I usually play with drums and bass. It was nice without them because all tempos were perfect and the feel was just right. Do you have trouble getting your band to play the right tempo and feel? I think you said you use a click track, sounds like good idea.
Interesting. I'm currently building a new setup to record bass cleanly and a lot more. I just stumbled upon this video by chance. What a great voice...wow. Didn't you make Sultan Of Swing with Leo Moracchioli? I was already impressed. Great.
Is the microphone free of a UK radio license? If so, this system is very similar to the QTX range of compact PA’s. They have two wireless mics and a card reader in addition to Bluetooth. They cost about a third of the price you quoted at the beginning of your video. I wondered what makes this so much more expensive? Mine even came with a fitted cover! 👍🙏🇬🇧♥️
Mary - will you be putting out any 'official' vids from your tour? Lots of bootleg stuff is getting put out! I want you to get the benefit not the bandits!

Tour dates needs updating. 😢
Mary your London show was AMAZING and it was MAGICAL to run into you on the tube with my wife, we both will never forget both encounters.
What a Silly American I am, I thought when you said "tube" I was thinking UA-cam. Finally figured it out.

Thanks so much for being there.
That rendition of "Run your mouth" was fine. I keep loving the simple setup with yourself and an acoustic guitar.

It was great to see you play St George's in Bristol on Wednesday, Mary!
Gal & Guitar 💫💫
Good you had a spare tuner on stage at Bristol 👍

I got my shirt today!!!!!!!
Wish I’d caught you in London, but I had my first gig since long illness to play. Sincerely hoping for another tour in the near future!
Gig sounds lovely. Would give my eye teeth to do one like that with a quiet audience that's actually listening!! 😀
Your low notes are sweeeeet!
Saw you at the Cavern. Great stuff!
very interresting thank you :)

What's the name of the song on 1:24 ?
👍👍👍
Any ideas how it would handle keyboard?
Is this after you "Wrote the new Adele song!".

What song is that?
I threw up the first time I played in front of real people on stage.
Not loud enough for my liking.
