Would be great if you had a younger person to mentor as passing along this technical detailed knowledge is imperative if these cars have any chance of surviving into the future!

You can also support the window from underneath with a piece of timber
Rather than risk scratching the glass and windows surround with the pliers

You can use a block of wood, but if your trying to remove the regulator that block of wood will hinder that operation

Some of the Continental Mark IV's and Town Car's had power mini vent windows. They were a great feature and an easy fix if they malfunctioned.
The regulators were a different story, as you well know.
The Mark III was a beauty, especially the interior. In my opinion the 1972 Mark IV, was the best of the lot with the exception of the interior. In 1973, the Federally mandated front-end bumpers took away from the overall appearance.
Cheers from Coastal South Carolina, USA

Awesome video man! I subscribed. I'm restoring a 69 continental sedan myself. When I began on the windows my LF went up and down but not well, RF didn't work at all, LR really struggled to go down and would not go up without assistance, and RR I could only hear the relay click but no action at the window.
I serviced all the switches in the master driver door assembly similar to what you did and now when I plug the connectors back in the LR wants to go down by itself with no press of the switch and no response at any window from the other switches. Only a constant down on the LR. I had to use a jumper wire to get it to go back up. I'm fairly certain I serviced the switches properly. Any idea what might have happened or what I may have done wrong?
I plan to do all the switches eventually but I didn't expect to have additional problems that weren't there before. It sorta seems like after the switch service I've made reverse progress. Any input is appreciated. Thanks and awesome video once again!

I really appreciate that you take the time to record what you do. -great help for other enthusiasts! With regards to this particular topic; the window on the driver side on my pastel yellow '71 runs fine up and down, but tilts on its way up, and is rather "sloppy" in the front end. Needs manual adjustment in order to get the right posision when shut. -can easlly be moved 2 inches up and down in half-way position. Is this a matter of a worn out mechanism, or can the tilt be adjusted?

I just went through this EXACT same issue on mine. I just bought the car and one of the regulator arms apparently had an issue and someone through bolted it. That created enough play that the front of the window wouldn’t stay up and could be pulled up/down. Maybe this is a wear point and the last guy tried to fix the existing regulator. Once I laid them side by side I was able to see the issue.

@@bobd9868 thanx for responding. What exactly was the issue, and how to fix?

@@palgjertsen2518 I think you might have a bad regulator. I was able to get a good used one for less than $100 which solved my problem. I haven’t read about anyone else having this issue but what you’re describing is exactly what was wrong with mine.

Finding good used ones now is almost impossible,..they all split right by the inside door handle, Your better off to have " Just Dashes" make new ones for you.

Interesting comment at the end… so you’re saying that ALL the window switches have to be good in order for all the windows to work? I just got my driver side working and both my rear windows work from the door but at least one of the rear switches is bad. I wouldn’t really care but my pass side window is dead and makes no sound. Are they all connected in series?
I suppose I could just bypass the rear switch as test, jump with alligator clips.

Yes, The power is fed through the individual switch(s) to continue the current
