The gun sounds better on the OG honestly. It got all thin and tin to me on the X. The OG has good sound just can't handle bass it crumbles under bass. UA-cam videos showed me that. Also the screen looking way better I gotta take your word for it since they look identical in the video it must not be noticeable unless it's in person.
I got the original Ally last year and enjoyed it, but ended up with a dead MicroSD card slot. I decided to give the Legion Go a try thinking it might be a better overall device. It was large so playing from bed was harder, and though I liked the larger screen, the looks of games suffer running in 800p or scaled 1200p and it bothered me too much. I feel like native 1600p was a mistake with the current power of the hardware and couldn't really fall in love with it... so I came back and pulled the trigger on the Ally X. It's a great refresh that fixed some of my issues with the original. Hopefully this version doesn't develop MicroSD card issues.
Ally x and SD OLED are much more handheld travel oriented mobile pcs while the legion go is a bundle of versatility and more used on the couch in bed etc. legion go is loud and heats up quick, sadly 1 exhaust fan that revs up to 9000rpm and does heat up quick but overall it’s my favorite device, the screen is gorgeous and feels more immersive to use. But the speakers are terrible legion space is decent at best. There are pros and cons for all devices overall just pick which one best suits you. SD OLED is best bang for buck, if you have a very specialized use in mind for the ally or go pick those but at this point as long as you don’t get a regular ally I think you’ll be happy with your purchase 😊
I bought the Rog Ally Z1 Extreme edition 3 months ago since it was on sale for $549.99USD at Bestbuy. I really do love it but there are some caveats. I have really big hands and after holding the Ally for a while, I find my fingers starting to go numb. The battery life is absolute dog sh*t as well, I bought a cuktek 30 40,000mah mobile power bank to extended my playtime from about 55min at a 25w/30w/30w manual power profile while playing intensive games to about 3 1/2 hours total. I was waiting for reviews like yours to see if there was a decent upgrade. I feel like it's not enough of an upgrade on the base hardware for me to make the leap. With the recent release of the Zen 5 based Ryzen AI 9 370 APU from AMD, that is offering between 30-50% more graphics performance, I feel like the next gen handhelds are about 6 months out. I think I am just gonna wait it out and see what the next gen has to offer price/performance wise. Great review though! You found a new subscriber!
It's no secret that it has like zero battery life. When you buy it you accept it especially if it was in the last 3 months, less $, and the x was coming out and is now. The X is just south of a grand so it's definitely a different bracket it's basically two of the machines you bought $ wise.
Had legion go and sold it it's just too big for handheld and it gets really heavy after some time plus battery and legion space software is so garbage.i ordered ally x still waiting
Hello, I'm having problems with my speakers sounding lower on the x compared to the OG ally, any Ideas why that might be. I've tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling even messed with Dolby acces EQ and still the OG ally is louder. Could you please help me out. Thank you
@@pianodemon109 The OG ally was set to game and so was the ally X, but the OG ally was still way louder. I eventually changed it to movie/balance EQ on both and now the ally x is louder. Weird tho that the Game EQ on the OG ally is louder than the Ally x. Also to test this I loaded up a game from windows with out Armory crate and it sounded louder, then I used armory crate and for some reason the volume would fluctuate from low to high when I would compare sounds in game. The AI noise canceller is off to. But let me know if you have any thoughts on this and if you have the time to compare devices please share thank you
Haven't put mine down since I got it tbh. Coming from OLED deck. Only issue was creaky triggers so had to open it up and add some lubricant not a huge job but needed.
Was yours a launch device ? And what if i dont open it up a lube it up, is it really annoying or u think it’s somethin i can get over. I dont wanna open this device up lol
Or without windows? MS owns windows. Sure they may do a console like interface over it but even the Xbox runs a modified version of Windows. As a PC only gamer I bought the Ally and now the Ally X for travel. Those flights to South East Asia are not short.

Lenovo also runs at 30W , battery is obviously what you’d expect but I keep it plugged in & use wayyy more then my 3080ti desktop at this point

Change the profile in the Dolby app. Change it to the same profile as in your OG ally

@KurdishSupaSoilja yeah launch one, erm it was a bit creaky but opening it up and getting some WD40 on a swab sorts it out

I can't wait for the xbox handheld, it'll blow this outta the water and cost about 600 bucks less, AND you wont have to deal with windows!
