    If you added felt to bottom of swan and muskateer it would prevent any scratches on the wood furniture. Looks lovely!

    I like the furniture without the runners!
    One idea-you mentioned your Limoges Napoleon plate is one of your favorite things. Maybe do a vlog with your top 5 things and tell us their story! Also, if you do a poll of how many people get out a little brush and brush around their moulding…I know I don’t do it that often!! I think you would find you aren’t alone😂

    Enjoying these videos so much. I have a little tip that people might find helpful. I have ornate furniture from when I got married in 1971. Very good quality that I have loved all these years. I too get behind on deep cleaning. Being my furniture has lots of nooks and crannies someone told me decades ago that when dust gets out of hand just put the round brush attachment on my vacuum and vacuum all the nooks and crannies. Works like a charm.

    Thanks for encouragement to deep clean the dining room. You reminded me of my Dad's comment about different types of wood in a room.
    My Dad said It makes a room interesting and if trees can grow together in a forest, they can be together in a room. Thanks for the memory!

    I agree the furniture looks less cluttered without the runners but be careful with the piece near the window as the sun can fade the colour and if you have items on it you’ll get darker circles remaining.

    That was a lot of work to do in one day! Have you thought about putting the fern on the bottom shelf of the side table? It would hide the lamp cord and be easier to get to for cleaning.

    • @mygreatchallenge
      @mygreatchallenge  Рік тому +1

      Well, the thing with fake plants is that one needs to place them where a real one could actually grow. Otherwise it just looks like clutter and not really natural. I don't think any plant could grow on the bottom, there is no light and it is directly next to the heat source. I endedbup putting it on the coffee table and it does not look bad at all.

    I'm working on my kitchen this week, using the Flylady Method. Today, I cleaned my stovetop and dusted out the oven. I will tackle the oven next month before it gets too hot to use the self cleaning feature. Next, I shined the outsides of my large appliances with window spray and used a towel to polish surfaces. Tomorrow, I will steam clean the kitchen floor and vacuum carpets. And then, my kitchen is done until next month. Your home is lovely and you are doing a super job cleaning and reorganizing everything.

    Murphy’s Oil is the only thing I use on my hardwood floors etc. I love your older furniture….old real wood is always better than anything that can be found today without spending a fortune. Talk about deep cleaning…I have no choice but to do it …we have Cathedral ceilings and a wood stove…(we heat our home primarily with wood from October til May) and once the temps go above 60 and the stove gets shut down for the year it NEEDS to be done…there is no hiding the soot and dirt it leaves behind 😂😂😂…. Just be very careful when watering your plants that the water doesn’t get on your table 🙁 Nice job.

    I loved this video. I have googled Murphys oil, I don't think it gave me the right answer, it said it was for horse tack. I use liquid gold for my wood but it's a little container and doesn't last long. It smells like brasso which I love. As soon as I feel better I will start on my home. As in the spring I also have my garden to see to I've sacked my gardener he was useless, refused point blank to weed, took 3 months of promises to cut my hedge, now one of my sons does my front garden and I do the back garden. My son won't take payment so I just make him drinks and cook his lunch. X x
