    I'm not tired of you decluttering the same areas because that's exactly what I do every year. It's amazing how something you can't get rid of one go round is so easy to get rid of the next time. I just finished the kitchen and was surprised that I filled a laundry basket for donations. Starting the living room today. Again..thank you for doing these series.

      Exactly. That is the whole point. If I was decluttering it all in one shot, one I would have no channel two I would be unrelatable, because who does that? It s so impulsive, at least to me, to go through a room and ditch it all.

    • @cgd1125
      @cgd1125 Рік тому +1

      Lol. It took me 2 weeks to do the kitchen. I used to do the entire room but I like this way much more. Only one mishap. I had tea cups in the basket and my cat jumped in and broke a couple. This isn’t so overwhelming. I’m glad you make more videos. More to motivate me.

    You can mount your tv on a wall instead of an entertainment unit. Plus nowadays they have frame tv's that could look like a painting :) Even UA-cam has still pictures to put on your tv screen

    Finding a use for the bowl that gives you joy is a good solution. I feel the same way about family belongings as you do. I have done some decluttering of them by passing some things on to my daughters and grandaughters. I love being surrounded by the things I have that bring me joy and good memories. I do feel better when they are oranized. I do feel inspired after I watch your videos.

That's what I try to do is find a purpose for something I love and get rid of something less important like your dish in your bathroom. Love it!

    Your declutter thought process is always helpful. Decluttering isn’t always about getting rid of things, sometimes it’s just putting them back where they belong. I have that same make secretary desk. My grandmother bought it in 1947 and I inherited it in 1985. I refinished mine with Formby’s refinisher. I keep small family keepsakes and small treasures in it.

    You could put the small bowl up for sale pointing out the tiny chip, it could be the bowl someone has been looking for to make up their collection. Put felt dots on the tray legs if you want to keep it and use it.

    No I don't get bored watching you go through your treasures, Sophia! I've watched you for years going through these lovely pieces and it always satisfies me. Sometimes people will buy items with little imperfections if they need to fill a whole set or complete a set that is a family heirloom. You never know! I have a set of clay bowls that my great grandmother had and when she died, I took them. They are plain bowls but beautiful hand painted from Korea. Stacking bowls in a set of 5. Each one off white but with rings around the brim in different colors and in the middle of the bowl, a single hand painted piece of fruit. I've had them for over 35 years and always used them, which means some broke or got chipped. Now I am down to just 1 and I don't use it. I would pay big bucks to get replacements.

    Yeah, I agree... sell the entertainment center and get another curio. I love your secretary!! I wanted to get one because I needed a desk, but no funds. I love reorganizing and decluttering. I realized I had a desk!! A 1960s school desk but was using it as a dresser for my baby boy. I decluttered in my dresser in my bedroom and was able to move his clothes there. Decluttering makes space for what matter most! I love that you love your stuff. I enjoy the chit chat and history. Oh!! I almost forgot! My grandma is having to downsize and she is letting me hold onto her beautiful iron and oak baker's rack!! It's so beautiful and reminds me of my childhood. I bet that's what your family heirlooms make you feel. I relate to you even though I am on the other side of the spectrum as a minimalist.

    Could some of the curios and cabinets not go into other rooms? The shelves in the basement? The guest room? Your office? Your bookshelves… if you are aren’t using those items but want to keep your collections maybe they don’t all have to be in the same room? Although maybe not the kitchen where your pyrex collection is ❤

    Just a thought- let go of the silver plate street find. You don’t use it. It is a shame to keep it when maybe someone else would use it. Just because it’s expensive, isn’t a really good reason to keep it. Plus you have to spend money to repair some. Don’t get mad, just how I think.😊

    • @habeebideemashayish2750
      @habeebideemashayish2750 Рік тому +2

      I think since she's selling the handles for their weight in silver, she should be able to pay for the repairs and sell them for more profit.
      Personally, I'd ask the jeweler if he could do a small consignment display of a few exceptional pieces. I know that I display a lot of things on silver and silver plate trays.
      But I agree that they need to move on. If she's keeping them for the monetary value alone, it's better to send them where they'll be loved and seen.

    Your living room is charming with all your collections. I think it is better to leave decorations and artwork where it has been placed until after a deep clean and then, carefully thought about before making changes. I usually do any real redecorating after a remodel and/or painting a room. Of course, a declutter is often necessary because things get misplaced by family members and all of us.

    You know Sophia the wall unit is nice but it really doesn’t have that much storage for a big piece of furniture. I think you could get something else that has better storage. My hutch is like that. Well the top part has good storage but the bottom there is not really that much storage space in the drawers as it odd shaped. I had my linens in there but they don’t really fit in there and there no place for my placemats and runners. Anyway I took them out and put them in my linen closet. I’ll be storing small items in the drawers now. Work in progress. 💜👍

    Have you thought about getting rid of the entertainment center all together, and getting a wall-mounted TV? It would be a much smaller footprint, and they even have fancy TV's now that have a built-in frame and you can choose artwork for them when they're not being used, so it would look like just another piece of art in your home. You could relocate all the books and knick-knacks that you want to keep to other areas of your home.
    P.s. I love that you ended up keeping the little French bowl. I was going to suggest you do something like put it on your nightstand to hold jewelry, and that's just what you ended up doing. ❤️

    Sophia, you did a good job decluttering considering how much you love to collect. I agree you should get the silver Christofle repaired and cleaned and then display the little trays because they are lovely. I particularly like the little sugar bowl. It seems such a shame for them to be hidden in the bottom of the cabinet. I think the little French bowl might sell considering it is old and rare, you could try using porcelain repair putty paste to repair the chipped edge and paint with a little gold leaf paint, after all what have you got to lose trying, you could also pick up a new skill in the process.

    Maybe you should get some little bins to put in the drawer in the end table to keep the items more organized.

    Sophia, I love this series! I keep following along with your series and haven't found much of anything yet, but I don't bring much into my house and really love decluttering.
    But about your street find silver and china, etc, you seem caught up in the monetary value rather than your love for the item. Personally, if I don't love AND use it, I don't want it. Somebody may have an obsession with collecting such things, and you just keeping them because you feel like you "should" like them isn't enough.
    And sell that stuff with small chips and whatnot with a clear disclaimer. I would pay ridiculous amounts for pieces that resemble family pieces that have disappeared over the years, chipped it not.
    You may be holding the piece that somebody else needs!

    I had a thought as you toured them…. Based on height of the items, it looks like you might could add an extra glass shelf inside the entertainment without impeding the view of the other glass items. 😁

    Sophia, how about building a bookcase/entertainment center and then you could put your collectibles on each side of the TV I know you can do this you do such a beautiful job with furniture making and maybe paint it white to match the fireplace so your stuff pops😊

      The gears are turning. I really want to have a Sectional. When the kids move out we more than likely will let go of the TV all together. We don't have time for movie night anymore and it s only used by William for his video games. Ed uses the TV downstairs a lot too for his video games.

    I was wondering if you considered modifying the living room tv cabinet. You could cut down the depth from the back side of the unit so it’s the Same depth as the two side curio pieces. Then you could wall mount the tv inside the tv part and it could be pulled out to swivel towards the couch and still be viewed by the chairs. Just was thinking since you said the oak wasn’t your style maybe refinish it after you modified it might blend in with your secretary desk makeover

    it is to each his own. and the only thing i would change, is to move the picture directly behind the Madonna's is detracts from Madonna's and its hidden by Madonna's. & picture to the left is partially covered. maybe they can go by the quilt stand by stairs. I know i cant see full wall, you didnt pan up to see that part. The thing with silver, no one wants to clean it! . long sliver trays are used for appetizer's. like shrimp, sushi etc. have a blessed weekend.
