  • @antares4975
    @antares4975 2 роки тому +434

    Paul Stanley said something like: "The most creativity comes over your restrictions". Maybe this is not a good beginners advise, but most players, me included, stuck on an average level for decades not really improving technique and get a bit frustrated sometimes. For example, even i'm not good at downpicking speed, i found out i can galopping on a much higher bpm. So even if i'll never be capable of playing Master of Puppets the proper way, i'm still be able to write killer thrash tracks or developing own stlyes around my capabilities. Thats the whole thing new genres were invented. Mostly by young players with fire, b'cause they don't give a fuck of playing "right" or "wrong", they just play. I think with youtube and media musical theory, maths and technique have much too high impact on making music. So, youngsters, admire your idols, improve your technique, but don't let them demotivate you in making your own progress!

    • @Pasaken
      @Pasaken 2 роки тому +8

      I prefer hybrid picking because you can easily switch the angle of attack on your pick. This allows for better switches between hybrid picking and (percussive) strumming. The thumb pick feels a little bit "stiff" and locked to your thumb in my opinion. May just be me not being used to it though.
      The thumb pick has the advantage of allowing you to use your regular fingerpicking technique with little adaptation, if you are using the regular technique with timr-fingers. With hybrid-picking you normally use your thumb and indexfinger to hold your pick and r and m -fingers for fingerpicking, making the "standard-technique" having one less finger to pick a seperate string. You can mitigate this "flaw" of hybrid-picking by utilising your pinky for picking, thiugh. It is quite a difficult task but can be very rewarding to learn since it combines best of both worlds in that case.

      You have a much better chance at learning these techniques than getting big. This man is just displaying skill that is worthy of being admired.
      So many people want to "make it big" without actually becoming really good at something. Sure, that's possible, but IMO - I'd rather go on the path of certain... hard work = the reward of being able to play like this.

    Can you do a video on thumping in general? There are a few videos on it, but you seem to have the coolest method ive seen so far. I really don't understand how you do it.
