If west ham fans want their club to be BIG, then they should stop complaining about minor things such as the food outside the stadium "not being for football fans". So start supporting your club no matter what! and make an effort! cause the owners surely have done their part to make this club great! now its time for the fans to SHOW UP
West Ham are sort of a weird London purgatory. They aren't a neighborhood club like Milwall, Fulham, or Charlton, but they also aren't anywhere near the big boys of Spurs, Chelsea, and Arsenal either.
No, the problem is that West Ham ARE a neighbourhood club, but the fans think they're one of the big boys. It's that separation and over expectation that divided the club.
+Matt I WBA I completely agree with you, mate. but that's because the spine of england's only world cup was made in west ham: bobby moore, geoff hurst, martin peters... so, the feeling is that west ham won it for england, gave the english their greatest achievement in world football. and for the fans this single fact make west ham a great, big and traditional club, even amongst its fancy london neighbors.

The point is that if you create a main section, like Manchester United and Liverpool have done it will create a better atmosphere, and if you make them a stand without seats it will be even better. I know that United have started asking season ticket holders which stand they want to have as a safe standing stand if FA opened for it
I’m not even a West Ham fan but I miss Upton Park and my heart goes out to the fans, who no doubt feel they have at best lost some identity, at worst sold their soul. As a Newcastle fan I know how special it feels to have a stadium slap bang in the middle of the area it is representing. A similar thing happened to Coventry City - the old Highfield Road was surrounded by terraced houses right in the centre of the city. In 2005 they moved to a bigger, sparklier stadium on the outskirts of the city, right next to an industrial estate. It’s like a different club altogether.
As an Arsenal fan I sympathise, love the Emirates now and in the long run it has worked out well and proved to be a wise move but dear god was it a dull few years
@@claretandbluearmy8014 I mean. I don't know what you're basing that on? Arsenal regularly get much higher attendance figures than West Ham and have a much bigger influence within London? Are you meaning to say that a higher proportion of your home fans are people who live locally to that region of London (as supposed to tourists and fans who live outside London etc)
When I went to London I wanted to see the “new” West Ham Stadium. When I was there my first thought was that it looked brilliant. My second was: that ain’t West Ham. Boleyn Ground was West Ham.
Liverpool city football tradition must be the way that all the world clubs have to follow. Everton with the small but in the same time amazing Goodison park, and Liverpool with the fabulous Anfield. So many generations, weekends, european games etc. To blow up...
I remember feeling intimidated every time i was down at the boleyn, even during the walk down, it always felt tense. When i went down the olympic stadium this year it just felt like a nice touristy day out. West ham need to bring back that green street vibe back to make West Ham, West ham once again.
Gordan Milicevic if Celtic had the money we could be the best. Our fans are loud and the atmosphere is amazing. No team in britian has 20,000 European away turn outs that Celtic do.
@@westheking12 we were sold the dream of being able to watch "a world class team in a world class stadium" and since then we have failed to consistently finish in the top half of the table; and as for the stadium, it was never intended to be used for football, in terms of the stadium itself as well as the surrounding area, and any changes made since us moving there have had little to no change to the match-day experience for fans.
Well we have finished 6th and 7th and 14th in the premier league with europa league semifinals and europa conference league champions and back in europa league respectively
This is so hard to watch. Too many great grounds being lost and leaving the passion behind just for the owners to pursue big bucks. Modern football has ruined the game.
TB 21 Hard to say White Hart Lane got replaced, it’s technically still there it just got rebuilt. As for Arsenal they only moved literally meters away from Highbury
I'm an Everton fan, I must say that the plans for Bramley Moore dock look more promising than most of these new stadium's ever did. However, cases like these still give me lingering doubts.
HG Football I think it’ll always take a long time for a new ground to feel like home you’ve got to think a lot of these teams have or had played at their respective grounds for nearly 100+ years and are stepped in world and footballing history so it’ll always take a while to settle in I think Everton (Like Spurs) have gotten the move spot on though the new ground moves away from the modern ‘bowl’ design and is a nice blend of old and new school on the outside The problem with West Ham is they moved to a completely different part of East London and shot them into a ground which isn’t even a football stadium that’s basically in the middle of an industrial estate whereas Everton are only moving down the road to a purposefully built ground which keeps all the history intact
@Raidr_05 without money football cannot exist anymore. Wake the fuck up English people. Passion exist in today football but for the money. Forget the bases of the English football.
West Ham need to renovate that stadium. Move the seats closer and introduce some safe standing (once it's allowed). Atmosphere would be mad then... For the record, their issues on the pitch are totally unrelated. They've had many injuries and really poor management. Their squad appears good because of some stand out players, but compared to seven-eight other teams is still worse. Payet is incredibly overrated (still class) and cannot be a one man team. West Ham need to get two proper decent, proven strikers, because right now they're relying on inconsistent fools. They'll be okay. They're 12th, it's not that bad. Get a striker and they'll start climbing. Need some proper investment this summer though.
Few key factors: you missing the stadium was renovated to meet the demands of football, Secondly, West Ham doesn't own the stadium, thirdly apart of the deal of getting the stadium required that the track stay in place.
sota59 I'm not a West Ham fan but do you blame them for complaining they lost there badge, Upton Park and they've always been rather shit but this season they ain't trying at all. They also have a shit running track around the pitch, I would be fuming if my club (Chelsea) moved to a ground like that
Millwall had exactly the same fantastic fortress at The OLD Den and after 23 years moving to our sanitised, soulless Stadium I can PROMISE you it will never feel like that fabulous Upton Park ground and atmosphere.
I could relate to this way to much, I am a AIK stockholm fan and the exact same thing happened. We moved from an old stadium holding 30 000, to a brand new stadium holding 50 000. the soul have completely died, even though its bigger the old one was waaaay louder because it was so tight to the pitch. And to get to the new one you have to go through the biggest shit mall in all of Scandinavia, its all corporate now and no passion. They tell you its for the the best, you will get more money, you will play better, go to champions league and so on. But we are five years in now and were still not close to even winning the league. And now the old stadium that me and my father grew up on has been teared down and and made in to FUCKING PARKING SPACES!! why not let it stay up and let people park some other place, ohh my god!! its so frustrating. Pele won his first world cup final at that stadium, you could feel the history on the walls when you walked in, now stupid people park their fucking volvos on that history.
Its a crime against history and humanity. Fans need to mobilize to mark their stadiums as historic landmarks and that way protect against them being torn.
what's wrong for west ham is 1) It's a new season in a new stadium ,diffrent atmosphere of course your going to do bad your not used to it. 2) The stadium is to big - Upton park had the small club feel to it. 3)To many players no chemistry, you need to have a formation that is comfortable for the players Your mistake was not making victor moses move permanent with him payet and Carroll you guys would be higher up get a new goalkeeper. 4)Injuries 5)Impatient wait for it. If your chants are not heard CHANT HARDER. If the play isn't working PLAY HARDER
1. Italian teams don't struggle to create an atmosphere with a running track 2. You're not a big team 3. You're squad just isn't that good 4. A shopping centre being near does not make the players play worse, stop making shit excuses
Happy memories of Upton Park. Went twice with Swindon and we won both times (78 and 92). One way to subdue an atmosphere. Also went to Hammers v Spurs match in 70s where a guy ran the length of the pitch and hurled the corner flag into the Spurs fans like a javelin. Kids don't believe you when you tell them today what it was like.
Ronald Weasley That was just a rumour, and David Gold and Sullivan stated that they won't be selling the club unless it's the king of Saudi Arabia for example. We would be a bigger joke than we are now if we were called West Ham Bulls with yet another badge change to advertise Red Bull. Yes we may win trophies but we would be the laughing stock of the league winning trophies, which really isn't the way forward if you want to retain the teams legacy.
mafuz uddin if you really want it that much just cook a pie and some mash at home and take it with you, who cares if it's cold, you have your tradition and your whole club is saved because you can eat some potato with a pie...
As an Arsenal fan I totally understand this - i remember Highbury Stadium (now flats - they kept the modern facade of course), but a new stadium always takes time. Then I remember Spurs and West Ham owners going head to head to attempt a move to the London Stadium like it was something to win - and West Ham being chosen seemed like bragging rights, oh dear... Now the astute fan who goes to the game would realise athletic stadiums are not designed for football. What West Ham fan's need to see is the owners pay to gradually transform the seating to be rectangular and its border between fan and pitch be equal all the way around, to turn it into a genuine football stadium.
Unfortunately West Ham can't permanently alter the stadium because they don't own it, and I believe that it has to remain available for athletics events anyway. What West Ham really need is a proper football stadium that they DO own.
@@peterburry2531 Agreed I met a fan who had the N from Upton in his house, a while back, who doesn't like going to London stadium, because it doesn't feel like home, it feels borrowed. That's a legacy of the olympics - someone has to take residence, and disappoint their fans in the process. West Ham need to grow too big or find a stadium that can accommodate the massive crowds they get.
Just found this. I am a Pompey fan, but went to Upton Park to see those classic cup games against Swindon in 60s and 70s; and latterly to watch you beat Southampton year after year (nice one). Loved the Pie and Mash store by the ground. Eating there was all part of the ritual. Best wishes to all West'am fans.
Visited there as a Man Utd fan many times, great fans and always a good atmosphere. I was sad watching this as I miss the days when football belonged to its supporters.
I miss Upton Park and the whole match day experience from getting off the tube going to pub getting pie and mash and walking into the west stand it’s just not the same

I'm glad we moved. And i know the memories but it's good for the club in the long run. We have a beautiful stadium and it's always packed the same atmosphere is there. West ham is a strong fanbase that will remain loyal to this team for life. ⚒️⚒️⚒️
@@nadaesfacil It's beautiful for athletics but a travesty for football. I wouldn't want my team playing there, even if it meant being wildly successful. Simply not worth it.
Get this in your heads West Ham fans, West Ham are NOT a big club, one good premier league season does not make you a big club, you wouldn't call Leicester a big club, so don't call yourself one.
MannequinStep who said we are a big club? All i see is people saying 'you're not a big club, stop complaining' but nobody said we were a big club. All i wanted was to build on our good previous seasons, which i believed could be done, especially with all the big players rumoured to come, and our new stadium. The reason we are unhappy is because of the frustration of our poor start. I, and almost every supporter, knows we are not a big club, but we have ambition to become one, and this is frustration.
managed to go there in 04 as a portuguese west ham lover... yeah, nothing beats that. it was an amazing feeling, been there 1 time, it felt like home and it is kinda sad it is gone

Great video by copa 90. As a Bolton fan I can emoathise with you west ham fans as I prefer our previous ground (Burnden Park) as it was in the heart of Bolton. Now we're in a middle of a retail park on the outskirts of Bolton.
This is the reason i fell in love with newcastle united. One half of my family were chelsea fans and i watched one match and the atmosphere was dull, sure the football was good (2009-10 season) but then my dad (whos side of the family are newcastle fans) took me to watch them play barnsley in the championship (i was 10 years old) and the atmosphere was insane. I was aware we were in the lower division but the 52000 seater stadium filled almost completely full singing all game with great support just made me fall in love and that passion is what football is all about. Ive watched league 1 teams generate more of an atmosphere in 12000 seater stadiums than large "business" teams in 60000 seaters
Been to two games and had enough, walking through a shopping centre to get there what's that all about?! Will never beat Upton Park! I now watch lower league football because of it.
I watched Millwall at The OLD Den since 1962 a mere 55 years and it is NOT the same at our sanitised, soulless Stadium where we moved in 93. Stopped going soon after and have not missed anything !
I was fortunate enough to attend my first PL game at Upton Park, a 1-1 draw vs. Everton in 2015. Having a pint in the Boleyn pre-match with everyone singing and chanting was wonderful. The energy around the stadium was palpable, and inside it was just great! I have yet to attend a match in London Stadium, but it sounds like the whole experience of a West Ham match has been sterilized.
I stumbled upon this because I routinely watch the Copa90 videos and docs. A lot of the team owners see the $$$ but do not appreciate that the clubs success is tied to the fans at the core. As an American we see it here all the time and part of the reason i fell in love with the game is because the atmosphere and love was so unique to anything we have here. Hate to see this feeling from the fans, wonder now 5 years on if this has changed some with West Ham having some success on the pitch again.
Are you ? Been going to Millwall since 1962. Don't remember you at The Harry Cripps Testimonial in 1972 at The OLD Den. THAT WAS SCARY for ALL concerned. Have you not seen videos of WHU V Millwall last time they met ?? Upton Park FABULOUS STADIUM but don't be an Away fan !
So by your logic, the stadium will create the atmosphere by it selfe?? Idiot... Red Star Belgrade, Partizan Belgrade (Serbia), Hajduk Split (Croatia), AEK Athens (Greece), Napoli (San Paolo stadium) and more stadiums in Balkan, Austria, Italy, all over Europe. Olimpia Stadion (Herta Berlin), Hampden Park (Scotland), Stade de France (France), Stadio Olimpico (Roma and Lazio), Raja Casablanca (Morocco) Estadio Monumental (River Plate) and more other stadiums in South America, also in Japan and others countries in Asia... All those stadiums with running track have an amazing atmosphere! it's not the stadiums that make the atmospheres, the fans have to make the difference. Don't blame the stadium. Fans have to stand up and create the atmosphere! English fans........
Sad, yet prime example of what happens to “classic” clubs like West Ham when the owners really couldn’t give a shit and when they can’t find anyone to buy it from them either
As Stevo puts it: you have to get rid of that running track & install more seating in that space instead, to get the fans closer. Changing stadiums isnt a bad thing if done correctly. Just look at clubs like Galatasaray or Juventus for example.
Boss3289 Im not talking about the fans being the best or not. The issue was if their stadiums were resulting in success, & again you proved my point because Lazio & Roma have been dominated by Juve in the Serie A for a while now. 1 of the reasons for that domination can be traced to just how close the fans are to the players at Juventus Stadium.
This is a great chance for the Hammers to move forward. Attract more fans, better players and perform on a bigger stage, but at the same time keeping the old partisan supporters and atmosphere. As a Londoner and Gunner I really think London needs a strong WHUFC in the Premiership. West Ham always had a tradition of developing young locaI players and without the youth policy and just buying foreigners that would be the downfall. I hope it all turns out well, though.
I've been a Gooner since 1981, and I wish I could agree with everything you've said here, but I get the feeling that Sullivan, Gold and Brady did this to fill themselves up, the same reasons that Stan Kroenke bought Arsenal. At least Arsenal fans have got place like Piebury Corner on Holloway Road to eat before a match and avoid the dreadful "catering options" at the new ground. Nathan's Pie & Mash on the other hand couldn't up sticks from Barking Road, and even if they could, whoever is actually in charge of running the Olympic Precinct / Concourse / whatever it is wouldn't allow it.
CapiTen10 The Hammers have put in some PLASTIC, GUTLESS AND SOULESS performances this season. I'd go even further and say SHAMEFUL & PATHETIC. The tediousness of Arsenal's 4th place finishes and disappointing champions league outcomes pale into insignificance when compared to the grim reality of championship football which is on a head-on collision course with West Ham FC.
Tottenham did a much much better job during rebuild of a new stadium. In fact ended up playing in the champions league consecutive years. All thanks to Pochettino🔥💙. Did a massive job without any funds.
Shame that this has happened to West Ham. Proper club. Remember going to Upton Park a few years back. Very intimidating atmosphere. Sure the players felt it as well.
Of course the stadium has something to do with that, but the far majority of the atmosphere in a stadium is the kind created by the fans. You hear these people in the video complaining and saying that they're sitting down... Of course the atmosphere is gonna be shit if you're sitting down at a fucking football game! Get up from your fat asses a sing!
Red Star Belgrade, Partizan Belgrade (Serbia), Hajduk Split (Croatia), AEK Athens (Greece), Napoli (San Paolo stadium) and more stadiums in Balkan, Austria, Italy, all over Europe. All those stadiums with running track have an amazing atmosphere! it's not the stadiums that make the atmospheres, the fans have to make the difference. Stadium is nice, now just stop crying and complaining about the food which is outside the stadium and bla bla. You have to make it your home! Make some noise, make atmosphere for you players so they will feel like they are home, they will start winning and then also you will feel it like home. So don't blame the stadium, you fans have to stand up and create it. Weird English fans....
The difference is that if you grow up with, and fall in love with, a football club, then it's the whole experience... these teams you've mentioned might create a good atmosphere, but it's what they fell in love with... this isn't the case with WHU! The match day experience has been altered, so the fans have been moved away from the pitch... The extra size of the stadium has meant they'd have to make more noise just to create a similar sounding volume, and the extra seating has only added more casuals, rather than die-herd supporters... and they never sing a word! Plus the gentrification/relocation of the area they've set roots in, is going to have a massive effect on the match day experience! Many clubs recently in the UK have had their 'town-centre' grounds moved to the outskirts, or to 'shopping-precincts', and the fans never enjoy it nearly as much! All the local business' out of business to push people towards Domino's and Nando's is never a good thing! Faceless corporations winning out again! To think all this change isn't going to effect supporters, and have the knock-on effect of reducing the atmosphere (and thus, to some part, the teams performances), is naïve!
Wydad Casablanca and Raja Casablanca share the same stadium (Donor) when it's Derby time , the stadium is so filled people climb to the clock area so they can watch the game
I very much agree, but having a running track and being that far from the pitch does make the atmosphere worse. Of course the fans should actually try to do something instead of just whining about it, but they do have a point.
When I've gone to England for Champions League matches, I haven't been impressed by one ground as far as the atmosphere goes. Etihad, Wembley, Stamford Bridge, Emirates and London Stadium are all pathetic for atmosphere. I did Enjoy my time at Craven's Cottage. That was a good ground, and Anfield years ago.
excellent video Agree it's not home yet but if we can get a couple of results against London rivals or against the "big six" teams the history will start So far the team has under preformed but things are improving and the atmosphere will come Keep the faith
I feel for the West Ham fans. The new ground may be big but it's soulless. Going to the Boleyn was quite an experience. The new place is like going shopping and for food with a football match thrown in. I'd be devastated if my club moved to a soulless bowl away from Aston. I'm a Villa fan and Aston may a shithole but it's home to my club and has been for over 100 years. I love to walk in the steps of my ancestors when i go to a game. West Ham fans deserve better.
walked outside upton once, not my team but there was something special about that ground! football is business and a running track is rubbish! Great video!
What's the difference between getting a burger or a few slices of pizza? If you want to burger so much just get one before you get to the stadium. The running track is a bigger problem. Although, it still doesn't justify the lack of atmosphere. They had a lot of injuries at the start of the season, and still has. And let's be honest, they overachieved last season, especially in the first half. The numbers back it up.
This is why I like what my boys are doing. Not moving anywhere well apart from half a pitch to the left. Same area, same route same everything. Just more people
As a Brazilian football fan, I get it. The Stadium is a huge part of a club's identity. After the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, lots of clubs got new stadiums here and they are all still adapting to the change. It takes time..... what most people will say is: "It's not the same as before." However, the trick is to create new happy memories at the new home. Keep supporting the team, even when it loses. Get involved! Bring the old spirit back to life.
I second Hammer and Talk a really excellent video. Sums up how I and many thousands of fans feel. Three reasons why the soul has been ripped out of the club :-Gold Sullivan and BRADY. Upton Park will live on in our hearts. COYI!!
Not just Italian, so many clubs with the best atmospheres have athletics stadiums but you never see them complaining. Atmosphere is created by the fans, not the stadium.
Absolute RUBBISH ! My team Millwall were unbeatable for 3 seasons at home ( 59 matches) yet lost 22 Away games. LIKE West Ham we had fanatical fans on top of the pitch intimidating Referees to be Homers and Away players did NOT fancy it and froze.NOT ANYMORE at our sanitised and soulless Stadium. Last season we lost our first SIX Home games ( Club Record) that could NEVER happen at the OLD stadium !
My dad supported west ham when he lived in london. We now live in Scotland and we went down to see them and he looked genuinely sad at the new stadium he said"what's happened???".
Running track excuse is bullshit. There are many clubs who create an incredible atmosphere with a running track. Karen Brady and her torrid officially ruined west ham
Differance is that most of us grew up with a great atmosphere and then got moved to a stadium far away from the actual pitch. If you supported us..You'd understand.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Do the Dundee FC story. 25 points deducted and administrated 3 times and still stayed up. Now, we are in the the top tier of Scotland and relegated our rivals last season after 30 years of them making us suffer. Also, 15 years ago, we had legendary players like Claudio Cannigia, Fabian Caballero, Julian Speroni and Juan Sara so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do an episode on us it would mean a lot!
Ruin a football club? Oh fuck off. Except last year, where have West Ham typically been in the prem? In the bottom half, but stay up. Where are they this season? In the bottom half, but probably gonna stay up. Ruining a football club is what venky's have done to my club, Blackburn, or what the Oyston's have done to Blackpool, or what Sisu have done to Coventry. But oh no, +copa90 make a video about poor little West Ham, never seen them discuss what's happened to my club though. Why is what the venkys have done not ruining a football club? Look at where we were 6 years ago compared to now, and with how important Blackburn Rovers is to the local economy, the entire town has suffered as a result of the Venkys. Maybe Blackburn just doesn't matter because it's outside London
Totally underlines the Fact that Spurs wanted to demolish the Olympic Stadium and build a Football Stadium in its place, hence they were denied the opportunity to move to this Shopping Centre. WHUFC fans will get to see what should have been the London Stadium when the visit THFC's new stadium on 27/4/19. #COYS
This is what Im really worried about with our new stadium, sure it will be a purpose built football stadium now that we know were not getting the commonwealth games, but they really need to make it with the atmosphere in mind, when goodison park really gets going on a good day it is completely unrivalled in england, the stands can literally shake at times, I hope when we move to the bramley moore stadium it can stay the same
West Ham United is a dead club. Genuinely. The owners sold the club's soul for a shiny new stadium, they just lost their identity over the summer. Hate WHU but feel for their fans hugely.
The way to fix it is very simple. You lower the field and then make additions of seats near the field. Ohio State University and University of Texas both did it and now have tremendous atmosphere.
My heart goes out to all the West Ham fans. As an Arsenal fan, I know what a change in grounds can do to the atmosphere of the club, and it takes a lot to overcome that! To this day we still struggle with having the electricity that was so incredibly obvious and close up to the pitch at Highbury. Fingers crossed for the Hammers...and I'm saying this knowing that you lot were the ones that broke our undefeated streak at the Emirates. Let's get back to that world beater attitude! Come on lads!
Stadiums with running tracks are shit. No atmosphere, no intimidation.

+Man on phone yeah for like 650 million
Some top guy in Red Bull said that was nonsense, I mean, it was reported by the Sun.
Ummm... I sincerely don’t think Red Bull ever bid on West Ham. Doesn’t sound at all realistic to me.
@@krusher181 it's kinda realistic, they already have clubs in the US, Germany and Austria
DT37F1 and Brazil and South Africa and Japan
They have to make a main stand. Like The Kop, like Stretford End. A stand where the most passionate fans sits.
TurboAalgaEntertainment stand *
what
He is rightly saying that SITTING is no good. You have to STAND to create a great atmosphere !
The point is that if you create a main section, like Manchester United and Liverpool have done it will create a better atmosphere, and if you make them a stand without seats it will be even better. I know that United have started asking season ticket holders which stand they want to have as a safe standing stand if FA opened for it
TurboAalgaEntertainment ye ye like the north bank
I’m not even a West Ham fan but I miss Upton Park and my heart goes out to the fans, who no doubt feel they have at best lost some identity, at worst sold their soul.
As a Newcastle fan I know how special it feels to have a stadium slap bang in the middle of the area it is representing.
A similar thing happened to Coventry City - the old Highfield Road was surrounded by terraced houses right in the centre of the city. In 2005 they moved to a bigger, sparklier stadium on the outskirts of the city, right next to an industrial estate. It’s like a different club altogether.
Another good club that sold it's soul. Fuck these modern stadiums, never have character and never have atmospheres.
As an Arsenal fan I sympathise, love the Emirates now and in the long run it has worked out well and proved to be a wise move but dear god was it a dull few years
At least we have fans from our area, most West Ham fans live in Essex...
Stephan Tsiorvatzudis West Ham have a higher percentage of local fans than arsenal
Claret and blue army 😂😂😂😂
Are you sure?
Alex Healy yes you got it
When I went to London I wanted to see the “new” West Ham Stadium. When I was there my first thought was that it looked brilliant. My second was: that ain’t West Ham. Boleyn Ground was West Ham.
So glad LFC isnt going in this direction and chooses to improve Anfield and keep the magic as much as possible..
I wish my club(west ham) did that... Id kill for a 45k boleyn ground. Liverpool did a good job
Liverpool city football tradition must be the way that all the world clubs have to follow.
Everton with the small but in the same time amazing Goodison park, and Liverpool with the fabulous Anfield. So many generations, weekends, european games etc. To blow up...
mr Robot if liverpool lose anfield the club wouldnt be the same

@@walterwhite1215 the stadium is being constructed with the club and fans best interest at heart so hopefully it works out.
Metaphor for the entire East end really. Souls been ripped out, the people replaced. Doesn't feel like home anymore.
Hasn't felt like home for West Ham's base since the cockneys were ethnically cleansed from the area.
It's a metaphor for the future of Europe.
Thats such a good point.
Gentrification mate
Working class culture is finished. The jobs all went to China. Now its the middle class' turn
I remember feeling intimidated every time i was down at the boleyn, even during the walk down, it always felt tense. When i went down the olympic stadium this year it just felt like a nice touristy day out. West ham need to bring back that green street vibe back to make West Ham, West ham once again.
The move just didn't suit them. That stadium is massive, but West Ham isn't a big club
Ned Kelsey Celtic has a 60,000 capacity stadium and they compared to west ham are 💩💩💩
Gordan Milicevic Celtic are much better and bigger than West Ham mate
Gordan Milicevic if Celtic had the money we could be the best. Our fans are loud and the atmosphere is amazing. No team in britian has 20,000 European away turn outs that Celtic do.
Doesn't Sunderland play in 50000+ seat stadium?
Shawn Ryu Sunderland has the history to do that
A follow up from this would be very appropriate given the current state of the club
What has happened since then?
@@westheking12 we were sold the dream of being able to watch "a world class team in a world class stadium" and since then we have failed to consistently finish in the top half of the table; and as for the stadium, it was never intended to be used for football, in terms of the stadium itself as well as the surrounding area, and any changes made since us moving there have had little to no change to the match-day experience for fans.
Well we have finished 6th and 7th and 14th in the premier league with europa league semifinals and europa conference league champions and back in europa league respectively
I was there in the Boleyn in 2008 in my 1st trip to london, i had to go see West Ham play...all the way from portugal, best memory i have from london
HG Football I think it’ll always take a long time for a new ground to feel like home you’ve got to think a lot of these teams have or had played at their respective grounds for nearly 100+ years and are stepped in world and footballing history so it’ll always take a while to settle in
I think Everton (Like Spurs) have gotten the move spot on though the new ground moves away from the modern ‘bowl’ design and is a nice blend of old and new school on the outside
The problem with West Ham is they moved to a completely different part of East London and shot them into a ground which isn’t even a football stadium that’s basically in the middle of an industrial estate whereas Everton are only moving down the road to a purposefully built ground which keeps all the history intact
@ThexNex tbh as a real fan the new Santiago Bernabeu looks off compared to the present one
Gareth Wareth Agreed they should do a partial standing sector like my team, Crystal Palace
Few key factors: you missing the stadium was renovated to meet the demands of football, Secondly, West Ham doesn't own the stadium, thirdly apart of the deal of getting the stadium required that the track stay in place.
ah fair
Go see my chain she talks about football and subscribe you her pleasure
Gareth Wareth but mate did you not watch the sob story?? The atmosphere is bland hence bland football. /sarcasm
Olympic stadiums kill so much of the feeling
Right, i hate those damn stadiums. The fans are so far away.
Where the fuck are the rest if the comments
its like when arsenal moved to the emirates
yortzandat cause Arsenal’s soul was left at Highbury.
yeah that's when football lost me and then when tevez got lent to another team to play against his own team
5 months, already crying.
Something is wrong.
Wait 2-3 years.
sota59 Technically it's an away stadium for the time being the frustration makes sense. Especially because the results have been poor too.
Nice logic you nob. Wait for 2-3 years and we probably would of gotten used to the place a little more.
sota59 I'm not a West Ham fan but do you blame them for complaining they lost there badge, Upton Park and they've always been rather shit but this season they ain't trying at all.
Who said it will?
Fans need to mobilize to mark their stadiums as historic landmarks and that way protect against them being torn.
what's wrong for west ham is
1) It's a new season in a new stadium ,diffrent atmosphere of course your going to do bad your not used to it.
2) The stadium is to big - Upton park had the small club feel to it.
3)To many players no chemistry, you need to have a formation that is comfortable for the players
Your mistake was not making victor moses move permanent
with him payet and Carroll you guys would be higher up
get a new goalkeeper.
4)Injuries
5)Impatient wait for it.

1. Italian teams don't struggle to create an atmosphere with a running track
2. You're not a big team
3. You're squad just isn't that good

This is so depressing. I've heard rumors that Red Bull is going to buy them. Maybe the fans should start their own club.
saVVage *Fc United of Manchester
saVVage that's alright :)
They already have! Thames Ironworks Community F.C.
"There's no pie and mash" that is what's killing a football club apparently
This one's on me! Pie and mash is part of east london football mate.
It's the east London tradition you closed minded person
mafuz uddin if you really want it that much just cook a pie and some mash at home and take it with you, who cares if it's cold, you have your tradition and your whole club is saved because you can eat some potato with a pie...

I just couldn’t imagine having to leave Ibrox stadium! It would break my heart.
As a younger west Ham fan who only went to Upton park a few times and loved it this almost makes me cry
They shouldn't of Knocked down the stadium. Should of kept it as museum or something.

I love football fans, we are the best. The slightest change really messes with your whole experience. Memories are always beautiful
What a way to get West Ham fans psyched for their game vs Utd
I love league 2 and non league football. Feels more authentic. Too much money in the Premier League now.
So your allegiance was to the ground, and not the club?
ezioupyourass obviously still follow them, just don't like the new ground or modern football for that matter.
I watched Millwall at The OLD Den since 1962 a mere 55 years and it is NOT the same at our sanitised, soulless Stadium where we moved in 93.
Stopped going soon after and have not missed anything !
Isleofskye yeah always looks empty!
Even the United States is building purpose built stadiums.
#WHUMUN Today, not scared going to the London stadium Upton Park was scary.
? ? Are you a child? Scared, get a grip
Isleofskye That was when the Old Den was terraced that's why it was so intimidating.
The Old Den was very intimidating far more than at Upton Park.
This is why I'm so happy we are building our stadium as close as humanly possible to the pitch to create an atmosphere.
Aykut So a running track is the problem, then how come Lazio and Roma are some of the best fans in Calcio A when they have a running track?
Gary Cheshire Well said mate.
Arsenal is a plastic souless club these days so of course you don't see anything wrong with west ham to going in the same direction.
West Ham away as a Everton fan at Upton Park used to be my favourite one of the season dreading going the Olympic looks horrible
RozyFly STFU
Persija jakarta gbk stadium
Wydad Casablanca and Raja Casablanca share the same stadium (Donor) when it's Derby time , the stadium is so filled people climb to the clock area so they can watch the game
I very much agree, but having a running track and being that far from the pitch does make the atmosphere worse. Of course the fans should actually try to do something instead of just whining about it, but they do have a point.
loved going to - from FA cup against Swindon in 1960s to EPL v Scummers in 1990s - great atmosphere both in the pie shop and ground

Perfect day to release this. just after a loss lll
walked outside upton once, not my team but there was something special about that ground! football is business and a running track is rubbish!
Just more people
do a thing on crystal palace v Brighton
As a Brazilian football fan, I get it. The Stadium is a huge part of a club's identity. After the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, lots of clubs got new stadiums here and they are all still adapting to the change. It takes time..... what most people will say is: "It's not the same as before." However, the trick is to create new happy memories at the new home. Keep supporting the team, even when it loses. Get involved! Bring the old spirit back to life.
Nah m8 officially I ruined palace more
Alan Pardew nice dance in the FA cup final dude.
A random guy You will like i wont like you i h8 man u
Thanks, fuck palace
I second Hammer and Talk a really excellent video. Sums up how I and many thousands of fans feel. Three reasons why the soul has been ripped out of the club :-Gold Sullivan and BRADY. Upton Park will live on in our hearts. COYI!!
two bit London club, who cares. Running tracks don't stop Italian fans making a good atmosphere. bore off
Roger King well they started off with a smaller stadium there not used to it
Are you high? Italian stadiums are empty 9/10 times. They only show up for rivalries and European matches.
Not just Italian, so many clubs with the best atmospheres have athletics stadiums but you never see them complaining. Atmosphere is created by the fans, not the stadium.
Roger King old Trafford
Absolute RUBBISH ! My team Millwall were unbeatable for 3 seasons at home ( 59 matches) yet lost 22 Away games. LIKE West Ham we had fanatical fans on top of the pitch intimidating Referees to be Homers and Away players did NOT fancy it and froze.NOT ANYMORE at our sanitised and soulless Stadium. Last season we lost our first SIX Home games ( Club Record) that could NEVER happen at the OLD stadium !
I'm from Canada and it reminds me of a North America club nothing like the old ground where you would feel it through your veins.
Just sad. Against Modern Football
This video is really saddening.. IN a way it makes me really happy I was able to visit the Boleyn ground last season.
bolyn ground rip the clubs soul same as if my club leaving their stadium, against modern football
Ryan Hyde completely agree mate they've also got to look at Charlton
Ryan Hyde they don't cover irrelevant clubs, sorry.
Adam Nichols irrelevant club's? You're clearly not an actual football fan then
Clubs*
Ryan Hyde very true about rovers mate Venkys absolutely ruined the place. Still, good to see another rovers man!
#COYS
Against modern football, I feel sorry for the hammers
This is what Im really worried about with our new stadium, sure it will be a purpose built football stadium now that we know were not getting the commonwealth games, but they really need to make it with the atmosphere in mind, when goodison park really gets going on a good day it is completely unrivalled in england, the stands can literally shake at times, I hope when we move to the bramley moore stadium it can stay the same
West Ham United is a dead club. Genuinely. The owners sold the club's soul for a shiny new stadium, they just lost their identity over the summer. Hate WHU but feel for their fans hugely.
When Millwall moved to a new stadium, the fans were protesting that shit hard, West Ham just rolled over peacefully.
Total myth.Highbury was also a library most of the time unless you were playing Spurs, Chelsea or United!
