The Fans Who Literally Built Their Club - Union Berlin
- Possibly the most committed fans in the world, Union fans built their stadium with their own hands, bled for the club when it was in need, and are rewarded with a club that is truly their own. An inspiration for football fans, and teams, everywhere.

And now they are in Bundesliga! CONGRATS UNION!!!
Deserved imo
The Solo ATL!!
The Solo stfu and fuck your club. Only money no history
they can be a top team in bundesliga if they continue to spend in players who'll fit their play style, and grow a bigger stadium as they'll need more revenue
@Lancer1131 3:1 it was a glory day!
Whos here after their promotion to the Bundesliga congrats Union Berlin

Can y'all do a Derby Days video on Union - Hertha Berlin next season?
Congrats to Union Berlin on their promotion!
Now in the Bundesliga. Wow🤯👏. Congratulations Union Berlin. Cheers from America 🇺🇸 🤝
David Sabillon thanks 🤗
From Germany I always supported Hertha from being a kid, however hats down to the amazing Union fans, still the best fans in Berlin.
Bundesliga!!
Now Union almost in the Champions League & Hertha getting relegated
I'm from Helsinki, Finland. I've watched hockey and american football all my life, been extremely passionate about it. This documentary got me into european football and started my journey to being a fan of Union. Amazing history and an amazing club. Thank you and good job.
I'm from Weimerica, and Same. I watched documentaries and vids like this on FC Wimbledon, Sheffield FC, FC Freiburg, and the likes.
I can understand and appreciate the love of a club more so now.
Hey, I m a Ultra Union Berlin supporter and i ve to thank you a lot for this video. It shows the feeling and the life to and with this club !! You re very much welcome every matchday to join again ;) Thanks mate !

Now your club is in the Bundesliga! Congrats!
British clubs need to realise the game belongs to the fans, not foreign businessmen in it plainly for the money. Leagalise safe standing. Legalise pyro. Against modern football.
Pompey own there club
pyro isn't legal in germany
Man city most obvious example
Peter McKenzie I wish pyro were legal in Germany, but unfortunately it isn't, and there is very little chance that it will be legal any time soon. That doesn't stop people from using it though.
+David MA Actually it is really check Borussia Dortmund Yellow Wall pyros
Doesn't really surprise me that a city like Berlin would create a club like Union, HOWEVER the atmosphere they created on the night of the match still blew me away. I get to attend quite a lot of English football in the top division and I don't hear anything as atmospheric as what Union in the Second division get to experience. You can't underestimate the importance of standing room sections, and I implore everyone to head to Berlin and experience it for themselves if they get the chance. And keep fighting for Safe Standing in England! It is the only way forward!
Eli Mengem They are clearly not in the spotlight. If you have ever been to Berlin you know that Hertha is more supported.
I'd rather go see schalke at veltins.
Excellent choice Schalke have great fans
Legalise Safe Standing for the BPL
Charlie Probert And the rest of the lower leagues
Changed MyName The lower leagues already have standing.
Mark Lister When I say lower leagues, I mean Championship and below.
Changed MyName Some teams like Accrington Stanley and Exeter City have standing terraces. We need the exact same everywhere else.
Changed MyName League 1 and 2 have standing
Portsmouth is a very special story as well. Now 100% fan owned.
I'm A Pompey Fan PUP
Yup! I'm a supporter! PUP!
Good to see the boys representing haha, our fans show true passion at fratton park. PUP
Exactly what I commented

Excellent & important documentary.
Well done !
Paul Reidy cheers Paul!
+Copa90 could you guys make a documentary for Fortuna Düsseldorf?
Great work, Eli. Every football club should be a members' club. St. Pauli and Union Berlin have great principles and values. It's not always about success, which is what the most teams and fans rooting for these days. You have to inspire and get inspired. These teams make football even more beautiful.
This is Footbal, this is Love & not your fucking money!!!!

And they are now 1st in the Bundesliga!!!
Last weekend I was at their stadium, at 2-2 with Regensburg. It was a fantastic atmosphere, I saw kids, women, old persons, all of them shared fantastic feelings.
This is football, this is passion...and for this feelings, football is named the king of the sport.
I hope I will visit again Alten Försterei.
Greetings from Romania!
When you are in Germany, there is no way around the Schalke Fans, or Ultras Gelsenkirchen. The clubs history is huge. With over 130.000 members, a unique atmosphere in one of europe's most modern stadiums, the Veltins Arena and the love for football in this region, it is definitely worth a visit !
Da waren Sie in Dortmund ^^
Achso

Red and white brothers💪🏻🔴⚪️
I am a fan of FC Union Berlin from now, lots of love from India 🇮🇳
this makes me never want to go to an MLS game again in my life... fucking corporations run everything in America.
Yeah America is sooo terrible. Shut the fuck up. Keep blaming them for everything.
Eisern Union
AFC WIMBLEDON PLEASE! I don't support them but I would like to know about them
U wot m8?
Less than 13 years old. Their achievement has been amazing

Yeh I agree
MrManderlore and rangers
Absolutely love this videos from Ali, keep up the good work guys!!!
Love it. Copa90 leading the way. The football version of Vice.
Great video as usual! My team Darlington are owned by the fans and have just raised money to build there own ground back in the town.
Would love to see a video on FC United as they are fan owned and are close to finishing the build for their first ground which they raised £3,000,000 (Something like this) for!
Pompey paid 10 million Debt and the fans like ei 1 million
+RyxnFX
It's great to see darlo back on the way up ... im a boro fan , although I did make it to feethams about 50 times in the early 80's (alan walsh, david speedie ... me mark page on the tanoy) ... anyhow ... good vid this ... and as as union season ticket holder these days, nice to spot myself a couple of times in the background during the interviews ... unveu etc...
keep up the good work on these documentary-style videos. they are top notch and very interesting!
please bring more with or about union berlin its so interesting :)
They have promoted to Bundesliga now!
Keep up this videos Copa! brilliant and informative.
Joseph Gresty Thanks Joseph - glad you enjoyed it :)
I heard somewhere that UB fans literally donated their blood to raise money to build their own stadium!
the "spending blood" campaign was a lil bit earlier in 2004 to get the license for the 3rd League.
I can only recommend to go to the nordderby Sunday, Bremen - Hamburg! And don't forget to take a look at the away fans ;)
MaxinhoDK this gonna be a good game :D
Schweinsteigerrr Yep, and i of course hope for a HSV win ;)
Happy for them good luck from a Liverpool supporter I hope you stay up with your wonderful fan base ❤️
I played for 11 years in the youth of Union, it’s just so good to see, that this unique football club is getting more and more fame and appreciation!
They are top of the Bundesliga today. What a story. Rooting for them to win the league this season. Looks possible
This is unique, Respect from my heart
Well done copa 90 U guys really r trying your best n I hope u guys succeed love u all n yea
Karan Singh thanks Karan - we appreciate your support! #CopaFam
Great story! Here in Indonesia some clubs are owned by fans by way of take-over. We built from scratches not to start a new club like FC United of Manchester but to prepare a fanbase strong enough to perform the acquisition. That way we dont have to lose the historical background of the club, of the community. Cheers!
So awesome !!
I support Hertha BSC, but I would love to see them in Bundesliga next year! Its sad, that some fans on both sides have a rivalry. My father told me, that right after the Berlin Wall was gone, the two clubs had a much better relationship than they have today. :(
trabbi1234 Its ok to have a rivalry as longest it's a healthy one. It's common to have rivalry in the same like Real and Atletici, Betis and Seville or Liverpool and Everton
Keep it up Eli! Great work Copa90!
Bien por union!!! Congrats!!! Saludos de mexico
These videos are fantastic, best channel on UA-cam. Slightly concerned about the presenter though he looked unwell at the end of the video (he is a fantastic presenter so its not a jibe)
and now they‘re playing in the champions league…
to those who like to hate on football: it‘s exactly stories like these that make us love this amazing sport⚽️
HISTORIC MOMENT FOR UNION BERLIN TODAY AS THEY SIT ON TOP OF BUNDESLIGA ON MATCHDAY 4 AFER DEFEATING SCHALKE 1-6
Seriously COPA 90, take it from a German: Now that Union is in the Bundesliga for at least one season, this is the PERFECT Derby Days Episode, especially in the context of Berlin being in the Epicenter of Germany's division between East and West, Hertha being the Western and Union being the Eastern Club. Berlin is one of the most interesting cities when it comes to contemporary history and this Derby is the Essence of that in football. There was already a dispute in the off season over Hertha wanting to place the first derby on November 9th (The anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall) and Union being against it. Germany loves this format and this would be the perfect addition!! Lots of love from Augsburg!
Great documentary. Football should come back in the hands of the fans. Next time when I am in Berlin I want to watch a football match. This is what I dream about here in Amsterdam AFC DWS back
This probably sounds weird but eli is such a good guy. He has the best job in the world and he deserves it. Really knows about football and the fans. I've been watching since the start, so I want to say eli you are the best.
awsome passion! good video!!!
So proud of our German football right now...
Going to a match of theirs in a week from today. Very excited.
You guys should do a feature on my team Stoke City. We may not be fan owned, but we have local owners who obviously care about the fans. Our season ticket prices are affordable and have been frozen for around the last 8 years and the club have put on free away travel for the past 2 seasons which is very impressive given the progress the club has made on the field in the last 10 years.
It's an example of the new TV money being used in the right way to help benefit the fans and should be an example to the rest of the Premier League.
Tommyd303 I wish my team, Arsenal, did that. I can barely afford tickets to the Emirates, sooner or later I'll have to stop going to the games, which is something I'd hate to do.
Dildo Faggins The game is nothing without the passion of the fans but the bigger clubs don't seem to understand that a lot of people can't afford the sky high prices they charge which isn't good for the atmosphere at these grounds
Tommyd303 They care more about revenue then they care about the fans themselves. This really saddens me and it's one of the cons of supporting a "big club"
Tommyd303 If only Stoke wasn't a shit hole :/
Dildo Faggins We may not be as big as Arsenal are but we've shown it's possible to progress on the field as well as care about the fans. Surely a club with a bigger turnover would be able to bring in some measures to help out the fans, but they don't. All they are interested in is maximising any profits at the expense of the fans
Going to see Union Berlin in a couple of weeks, really looking forward to it.
Great video once again.
I am from Berlin-Kreuzberg and I always supported Union Berlin and I always will! the most amazing time of my life was to see them going to the Bundesliga!
Wow Just wow
The fans are amazing.
Were the only club in the championship with terracing still, it makes the atmosphere so much better and its fantastic
Another amazing video 👌
Every club should work like this.
This I by far my favorite Football Club since I saw sausage Caviar video about Union
Well deserved promotion. From a Stuttgart fan 👍🏼👍🏼
Come to Barrow! Great club and one who's story needs to be shared!
These kinds of video makes me love football even more
Please come to Lisbon! Sporting CP has the best fans in Portugal and one of the oldest official ultras claque!!! We haven't won the Portuguese league in many years but the support from the fans is always there, every single game year after year!!! Please come to Lisbon Copa90
Id have been in Berlin at the same time as you, how irritating I don't see you, awesome video anyway, a truly outstanding fan base
Now a Bundesliga team!
Thanks Copa90 for this excellent Video. I hope the English Football will be some day like ours (again)! We stand behind our Teams, if we go to work we are physical in the work but mental at our Club or in the Stadium (Home or away).
Visit more German Clubs, we have unbelivable Storys in our country. There is Arminia Bielefeld, Hansa Rostock, LOK Leipzig and many more.
I hope some day you guys will be visiting my Club 1860 Munich. We had also big Moments in our history from the first german Team in Wembley Stadium to staying at the border to the end.
Thank you guys!
Great video. Wish this was British football.
I really love these videos! Very interesting ;)
Kampfschinken Thanks :)
There is one members club it is Portsmouth there in league 2 and saved there football club from going down by paying a certain amount of money to the supporters trust
:)
Austria Salzburg please ... a Team with a long long history
so glad they went up
this is pure passion
Copa please do Portsmouth FC they haven't down well the last few years but their fans basically paid of their debt....THAT'S A FAN BASE
Debt maybe paid but they're still SHIT.
Blue qrmy
They are shit becuase of money
Jack Huskinson they are not fans.they're are supporters
Aniq ?
Great Vid. Me as a 1.FC Köln fan, think you should adress the issue that we are facing in german football now: the captialising of the Bundesliga. Especially Footballclubs that are company/ investor onwed are getting more and more foothold in First 3. Divison of German Football. To drop some names: Wolfsburg, Leverkusen, Hoffenheim, Leipzig, Ingoldstadt... These Clubs often dont even have a real fan base like the tradional clubs do. They are clubs made out of plastic and money For example Leverkusen dont sell out thier stadium even if the play Champions Leauge aginst Atlectio Madrid. Football is for you and me, not the fuking industry. And yes I know that I have a romatic view on German Football but least I can sleep well at night ;)
I can relate. That is the same reason American football (soccer) isn't going anywhere. Commercial football is sady the new status-quo even in developing countries like China and India
Wolfsburg have Volksvagen, if im not wrong, think leverkusen too have something simlair, i really cant remember but the rest are under the 50+1 right?
@@MortanAMrk There is 50+1 in germany= Clubs should respect the fans and in order to make sure this happens the clubs belong to the fans.
If an Investor supports a club for more than 20 years on a large scale and the interest of the fans is respected (ticketprices, standing places, and so on) the club can be owned by the investor.
But that just works if the club proves that they are working with their fans and not to take money out of the club or do shady deals were the club is put at risk.
If a company does it the way like abramowitsch with chelsea, the club wont get permissin to play in the first 4 leagues
You should also put in context that Wolfsburg as a city only has roughly about 100.000 people living there. The stadium itself has a capacity of around 30.000 seats.
And yes, people of the city work at Volkswagen which is the headsponsor of the Club. Is that a truly NoGo if there is nothing else?
Wolfsburg for example is by the way even older as a club than Cologne or other "traditional clubs"
Tradition can't buy you anything except remembering "the good old days"
I am living near Wolfsburg and like to go to the game once in a while and we both know that you can't compare that to a game of Dortmund, Frankfurt or whatsoever. But explain why it is not okay for the people living around Wolfsburg to have a club to watch and enjoy just because the stadium is not completely Full every match, just because the fans are not as loud as somewhere else.
Stop looking towards others and better focus on your own club.
Did not know Dave Grohl is a Union Berlin fan.
In Portugal there is a club called Belenenses that started from scratch a few years ago, separating from SAD (code city) a company that ones the majority of the club. Belenenses is back on the minor leagues with the support of all of their members. The team of the company (code city) had to change de crest but still called Belenenses and play on the first league on an empty national stadium.
I was at that St. Pauli game too that finished one nil. Gutted I missed you guys
bubbleblower51 oh dam, if you ever spot us in the future - dont be shy about saying hi! we love meeting fans
I love copa 90 favorite youtube channel
I am German and I Love Union for it's traditional and the fans are impressive
Union is a shit club!
Beautiful club and people ❤
As a hibs fan I love what Union are doing and I love the club culture I have been to Berlin and I have been to a game and it's great. Hibs should be more fan controlled and they should bring back terraces at Easter Road
Now Union is in UCL😍
do one on portsmouth one of 2 fan owned clubs in the country, droppped from the prem to league 2 in 5 years, won the fa cup in '08 would be a good story
