I recently bought one of your hybrid burl wood and resin brush handles, one with a dark amber colored resin. It is absolutely stunning, IMO, to see one of these pieces in person. You do great work. 👍

What device do you have chucked up to hold the blank? I assume you drill the recess for the brush first, correct? Gorgeous work, by the way. Thanks!

That is a Beall expanding collet chuck - www.bealltool.com/products/turning/ix_collets.php. I did the drilling for the brush recess and then mounted to the collet chuck to turn the handle.

Love your videos and brush handles. Where do you sell them if you do?

Awesome thank you, I’ve been watching your videos and have been interested in pouring my own blank.

Sure can - after the initial shaping I sand with 220 grit and 400 grit dry, making sure to stop and and the other way to keep sanding scratches from all running the same direction. I then move to wet sanding starting with 600 grit and using the first two grits of Micro Mesh sanding pads, 1500, and 1800. After than I use EEE ultra shine and buff it back off with the paper towel, and then the same using Yorkshire Grit. After that I take it to the buffing wheel only using white diamond and the blue Penn State plastic polish.

Thank you. Do you wet sand w water or something else?

Just water on the wet sanding, I have found anything else degrades the micro mesh too much.

Where do you get the pieces from?

I cast some of them myself, others I purchase at turning specialty stores online depending on the material used.
