Hi Levy! What's really impressive about Magnus' performance in this game is that he played like an engine. That's the observation you make when you say that all his moves work together perfectly, seamlessly pushing forth the attack, building advantages, little by little, until he wins, not by brute force, but by Napoleonic style outmaneuvering, both tactical, locally, and strategic, when you consider how one moves enables another one way into the future. According to Stockfish 12+ Magnus had Average centipawn loss of 8. Let that register. Just take that in. No mistakes, no inaccuracies, no blunders. Aronian had 24, with a mere 5 inaccuracies, no outright mistakes or blunders. By all accounts Aronian had a super GM perfromance. But Magnus played this like Stockfish would have. And as anyone who's played a top engine knows, you don't have to make a mistake to lose against the computer. It's just by sheer strategic calculating power that the computer slowly takes you apart, just as Magnus did here. The level of his performance is unprecedented. He is in a league of his own. Also, nice clickbait!
