This was very helpful, sir! I had a pretty good grasp on what to do since I've dismantled computers and server boards at work before but I just wanted to make sure that way I don't damage anything. Thumbs up from me!
To add 1 more you must use same mhz (2666), but if you are to replace both can you upgrade to higher? like 3200mhz or 3600mhz? this question is regarding Inspiron 3671
The available memory shows the memory not used by the PC. If you look to the left of available, you see memory used is 3.8 GB and the available is 12.2 GB, the sum of the 2 is 16 GB
Okay big problem, emergency emergency please help! I missed the first part of your video and already had my memory module ordered and delivered and in hand. So I open up the computer and low and behold, no place for an extra memory module!!! They were both taken, filled. OMG. Now what? Well should I replace one? One module has four little black squares and the other one has 8, I wonder if that means it has more memory. So the one extra I bought has the 8 little black squares. Should I replace that one, with the one that has the 4 squares already installed in the computer? Will that give me more memory? Will that erase all the memory I have in there???? Will I lose information? Are there any other options? Not sure what to do. Thanks for any help, your video is really great wish I would have watched before I ordered my memory module.
1st you need to know how much memory you have . If you have a total of 8gb, it means you have 4+4. It would be better then to get 8+8 and sell the 4+4. You can always replace a 4 with an 8. But personally , I like them to be the same
@@KnowledgeSharingTech for some reason they installed it as 4+4 and 8+8. So I replaced the 4+4 with an 8+8, now I have two slots with 8+8. And it works perfectly. I didn't lose any memory. I added memory space. I don't know how it all works but it works! Thank you so much for your great video!
What’s the reason for the ram module needing to be the same memory instead of combining a 8gb in one slot and a 16gb in another? I am getting a 16gb ram module tomorrow and after watching this I am not sure if I should combine it with the 8gb or remove the 8gb and have only the 16gb…
at 3:06 I already have one of that ram in my dell pc if I was to add that ram you installed in my pc would it work or would I have to buy 2 of the ram cards you installed?

Awesome tutorial/informative video. Explained everything to the T. Thank you sir!
Very welcome!

Glad it helped!
Excellent tutorial, you have given me the confidence to do this myself
Great to hear!
This video was beautiful. Extraordinarily helpful thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful!
Good thing I have two p.c.'s. I'm operating as I'm watching YT teaching me how to perform the operation. Just like a real surgeon.
Really useful, thanks a lot!
Yes this video was very useful.

hi can i buy two 3200mhz ram and the motherboard support?
What is the most RAM you can fit inside two slots of Inspiron?
16GB + 16GB for a total of 32 GB
@@KnowledgeSharingTech thank you sir.
It's interesting because in the control panel is says memory available 12? But you said 16 was there. Was this a bios error? Thanks

You can combine it and it will work. The reason to have identical modules is that under heavy memory usage, the system would be slightly faster

So my Inspiron 3650 has 4mg. Is adding 8mg ok? I thought that RAM needed to be bought in matching pairs
@@microbus99 It will work just get one with the same speed
When I am buying my ram, do they both need to be the exact same model etc
No, but they should be the same specifications
@@KnowledgeSharingTech ok thank you
@@KnowledgeSharingTech is this ram good? Integral IN4T8GNDLRIK2 16GB kit (2x8GB) DDR4 RAM 2400MHz SDRAM Desktop/Computer PC4-19200 memory
when I go to the dell website and click the tech specs and it just showed DDR4 SDRAM not the part you said was important 2:46. what do I do?
You can chat with Dell Tech support or install HWINFO on your PC and look under memory to find out the current RAM type you have
@@KnowledgeSharingTech thank you!
Is it possible to increase the mhz of the memory that is already installed? Can I go from 1333 to 2666 MHZ?
If your motherboard allows it then yes but all your dimms should be the same speed
Super helpful, thank you!
