Hi Sootch I'm from Israel. I shot the original Masada in Israel two weeks after it came out and I like it a lot, and this seems right at my ally. Glad you liked it. Also, you told the story of Masada spot on, I've been there a lot of times you should too if you come to Israel. Love from Israel.
I've been only to Israel once on birthright and man I would love to go back. We climbed Mount Masada, rather trekked it actually. It was beautiful And actually quite a few members of our group had not bar or bat mitzvahed at 13 so they got to have short bar and bat mitzvah ceremonies atop Masada is something epic to brag about for the rest of your life. The Israelis are resilient and they also know how to build great weapons. Hope one day to own a galil.

How is the gun law in Israel? Where I can find that information?
Yes, it really IS about the size of a P365XL, and with slightly better capacity and good reliability, this is a viable alternative for those looking for something OTHER than a Sig or Springfield.

@@mrmd4734 no.
on my short list !
over 1000 assorted thru my masada , zero malfunctions
This pistol looks awesome. It appears they were able to do something pretty remarkable. This pistol is not a slimmed down IWI Masada, it’s a completely different design. The standard Masada has a cruciform sear engagement at the end of trigger bar aka IWI’s version of Glock. The Masada Slim’s trigger bar is not the Glock cruciform, instead it has a trigger return spring like a…..Walther P99/PPQ/PDP or Canik!! To figure out a way to incorporate this design into a slim framed pistol is very impressive. The cruciform trigger bar design is inferior to trigger return spring because with cruciform, while you are pulling the trigger, you are also cocking the striker springs from partially cocked to fully cocked before sear releases. With Walther’s trigger return spring design, the striker is already fully cocked, so all you’re doing while pulling the trigger is releasing the sear. This is why Walther and Canik (Walther clone) are known for having great triggers. There are some differences but it appears IWI is doing their version of the Walther, Canik, VP9 trigger.
You may be right, but Glocks have a better reset than any of the guns mentioned in my opinion. Every glock trigger operates like it has a return spring, even though it doesn’t. It’s a superior design. It’s Glock Perfection.
Question: is the inner barrel polygonal or lands and grooves? As you know, a quick peak with a flashlight down the barrel will quickly tell you.
@@mrmd4734 been asking myself the same question. The answer probably would be that it isn't polygonal, otherwise the press package would have mentioned it - until now, no one reported as much.
Question: is the inner barrel polygonal or lands and grooves?
Thanks for the update.
Sorry, I almost never read replies to my comments. From what I just looked up, one review says it’s polygonal.
Great review!
God bless all here.
I really liked your opinions but who is really the best?
messada,glock 43x,walter,hellcat,shild plus?
Everyone has something that the other doesn't have
I emailed IWI US, and they said they would be including this one in their PSP program soon, resulting in a price of 384 for those that qualify.
I’m taking a S.W.A.G. at why the pistol has a pin and easily removed frame pins. Consider the environment in which Israel has to fight. It’s definitely not weapon friendly. Pull the pins, spray it clean, spray in some gun oil, reassemble and it’s ready to go. It’s relatively easy to deep clean so fine grain sand and dust are easily removed.
I was intrigued even beyond the lack of light rail. Then he showed the removable takedown pin. Deal killer.
Why? It literally takes a few seconds more than the standard Masada or a Glock.
@@G234Carry Yeah I don't understand it. So many Semi autos have some sort of pin to remove. Pull the pin out the slide comes off. Unless you clean it every day this is a non issue. Not sure what the hate is about. Even then, what is the big deal. When you clean it you disassemble it. What is one more piece?
And the light rail? On an EDC? Is that really a problem?
Great review
G3C vs Masada Slim
No pic rail dang man! Great design nonetheless
"Laser etched" suuure... more likely laser etched mold, injection molded frame. It looks good but that trigger safety! Oooof! I'll keep my 365 SAS.
Would the flat trigger fit on the standard Masada?
Would be nice compare the bul to this, battle of the israeli handguns
Would you conceal carry the full size Masada
I have a full sized Masada with a red dot on it. You can conceal carry it, but it definitely imprints on your side because of its size. I carry it on my security team for my church, but I usually have a few layers on that hides it. Not the best for lighter clothes in the warmer weather
This pistol would be 100% if it had an accessory light rail. Still...DO WANT.
Any Kydex holster recommendation for the Slim?
What holster does it use?
Does that gun not look like a G2 Taurus

One thing that wasn't touched upon is that the Masada S takes Jericho 941 Mags, which means it takes CZ75 mags. SCORE for cheap mags!
Good point. Thanks for the comment!
Double score for cheap RELIABLE mags.
if only the Regular Masada took CZ75 mags :(
@@Tracer-Roundthe regular Masada takes proprietary mags. The Slim takes Jericho mags, as per IWi. The masada slim doesn't have the ambi mag release, but it is switchable.
@@DarkPhoenixTSi Jericho 941F magazine is compatible also with tanfoglio mags
Sootch,
First off, as a rabbi I really appreciate your sharing with folks the story of Masada and why the name is so important to Jews. Second, your first review of the Masada full size first let me know about the gun and convinced me to buy one. It's now my bedside go-to. Third, this was the best review of the 9s I've seen and I've been waiting for months for them to be available. I'm told that they've been held up because Biden's folks are holding up imports of foreign made pistols. IWI says they'll be available by the end of this month. this is going to be a nice addition to helping keep my congregation safe.
Also, the pin disassembly is reminiscent of the way Ruger Security 9s are disassembled. Thanks again and God bless.
Biden will take your guns away then you'll be vulnerable like you were in 1938.
Shalom Rabbi! It's good to find more Jews who are pro gun and pro self defense!
Shavua Tov !
Yeah, I’m all about getting “us” to be more proficient
I replaced the 365XL with a Hellcat Pro. The latter with sights I could see and no rusting on mags and controls. The Slim has bounced the Pro from the first outing. Fantastic recoil control and excellent trigger. It prints low with the OEM sights, but they are compatible with Sig sights. So, choices abound.
Hickock noticed the same thing ... prints low.
I have both the XL and the Hellcat Pro. How does the IWI compare in size to these two pistols? Thanks
If you read the manual iwi explains where the sites are zeroed in to which is much further than most guns.

Finally got this. A GREAT pistol...perfect for EDC. I put a couple of Talon Grips on it (trimmed the ones for Mossberg MC2c) for a fuller grip, with a Holosun 407K optic.
I’ve owned several IMI / IWI firearms over 30 years (including the Masada Full Size) and each was great. I’m looking to owning the Masada Slim.
The Masada is phenomenally accurate and one of my favorite, on par with Walther PDP. I can’t wait to add the Slim to my collection.
Hey Sootch, I was messaging with IWI -US today, asked them if CZ75 mags work with the Masada Slim. This is their response:, directly from IWI:
"It will run with those mags. 17rd and 19rd we have tested a ton
You sent: that is great to hear, I just happen to have "a couple" CZ75's, lol!
and you are referring to the Masada Slim with CZ mags?
IWI US; Yes"
So direct from IWI, the Slim will run 17 and 19 round CZ mags, how about that!!
I'm just conjecturing here, but I think they've let out a rail, much less a Picatini, bcs it would be counter intuitive for the objective of a lighter, slimmer tact gun; to then, carry reddots, lights, bells and whistles...I love that humongous guard. Good for when you're wearing gloves. It's a beautiful gun ! T vm for the great review.
P.s.: Taurus, specially now that they've moved to US, are making awesome subcomp 9 mils too.
Taurus is and always will be crap, any company that will not warranty a gun past 500 rounds is nothing I'd ever rely on. Most guns "break in" period is what the Taurus' full "functional life" is, and Taurus also will not sell replacement parts for their guns because they are not intended to be repaired. If you absolutely MUST get a cheap gun, go for it, but don't expect to get quality.
Hoping that IWI will make the Masads available in 45 ACP, 10mm, and 40S&W
Seems like some companies are moving away from 40 and 45 which is disappointing.

Yeah isn't it ironic that the USA adopted the 1908 German round over any other caliber over our calibers.
As a SW fan , geek for years, I purchased Masada and I love it. I'm afraid my s&w shield and my shield plus will soon be replaced with the Masada S for EDC. I hope I enjoy it as much as I like the Masada. By the way, I had an issue with the mag release on the Masada, sent it back, and it was repaired in a week. Great customer service!
Interested in the reasons you're now leaning into the Masada S vs the Shield Plus. Can you elaborate?
@@stevenmills8269 I have both guns, Masada, Slim and MP 2.0, for one the trigger on the slim is as good as walther, soooooooo easy to ride the wall, especially on follow ups. But for me, it is the recoil impulse, its very hard to describe, but they are my favorite guns to actually shoot very very hand friendly.. And despite all guns 'quirks' for me, the sight picture, the trigger, the recoil, under pressure lord forbid i actually have to use the thing. I feel the most comfortable on how the gun actually behaves in operation.
Thanks for the great review. This is one of those guns that I can't wait to get my hands on. I already have a Masada and a Jericho Enhanced and am a big IWI fan.
This is great. Though it’s small it gives you a 13+1 ammo. Seems like you had a great experience

Masada to everything IWI are phenomenal!!!
IWI manufacturers high quality firearms. I have a Zion and Masada and never had an issue. Would love you have this in my collection
Jericho 17 rd mags are compatible with Masada S as well as CZ mags - you can go to 20 rounds with CZ.
I talked to IWI - they are working on base plate for Jericho mags.
I was curious about that. ty.
I’ve passed on the b43x (capcity), sig (grip to small), hellcat (grip), hoping to get my hands on one of these.
Sig Macro
Get the masada slim , optic and ammo vs the macro price.. some people dont want an 800 sig...
'Masada Slim' - sounds like a pool player.
Hey if you guys watch Steve Wallis camping on UA-cam stop by and wish him well. His wife just passed away and he really needs the support from his followers. I wish everyone well and have a wonderful rest of your day today 💙✌
Dollar to Donuts that IWI will be releasing a Masada Slim TACTICAL version with front under rail, and threaded barrel in the near future.
For optics, the Vortex Defender fits perfectly on the slim. The sights are high enough and the optic sits low enough for a perfect co-witness sight picture. I have a Vortex Venom on order for my full size Masada as I have been told that should also be a perfect fit. NO mounting plates necessary. Great review as usual Sootch.
Thank you for a great review! I was dead set on the P365 XL for a micro 9mm but with the additional +1 capacity in the magazine, almost $150 cheaper, and IWI pedigree I think you've settled my decision.
I also already own a Tavor 7 and Jericho 941S and can confirm great quality and reliability from IWI products.
More like 300 dollars cheaper than the Sig
365 macro
I like it but I have already
Two P365 XL's
Four Hellcat Pro's
Six XDs's.
Not a fan of sig so I have passed on the P365 series. But this pistol might be my next carry. Wow, this is a nice pistol!
What? The SIG P320 X-Compact is awesome. Literally one of the best edc/concealed carry guns I want one...iwi is trash to me besides the Tavor rifles🤷♂️
Idk I just don't trust their firearms IWI seems low "quality " compared to the popular brands SIG, Glock, HK..S&W etc...🤷♂️
Nobody ever sued IWI for shooting themselves without pulling the trigger. IWI is not known for firing pins breaking. Sig let's their customers test their guns. IWI is known for making guns that work from the start. IWI is closer to H&K than Sig.
@@blackticalmayhem8461Low quality? How do you figure that?
3.4" barrel means it is 7" long. Whats Micro about THAT ? & How SLIM is Slim? I didnt hear the actual width mentioned. I gotta say to doesnt look all that slim to me. & it seemed you avoided showing the barrel view.
Excellent video on an excellent weapon. One thing you can bet on with any weapon from IMI, the Mosaad has already ghosted some slime balls in the real world with them. The Israelis never build junk.
So the one drawback is an awkward takedown pin - WHY?
The slide stop has to pivot on something. The 1911's doubles as a big, can't-miss handle for the pin that guides and retains the barrel. Why would anyone ever make a stupid, non-ergonomic proprietary retention pin when the simple and obvious solution is long out of patent protection?
Would really like to see this gun in person or better yet shoot a couple mags. Really good looking handgun!!
I'm not jewish (nobody is perfect) but i love iwi pistols
Seems like a decent weapon but that breakdown pin is a real no-go. Way too easy to lose and catastrophic if you do.
Great review as always 👍 I have the service model that I picked up recently and really like it shoots very nice decent trigger and optics ready.im not crazy about the sights though need something better for my older eyeballs have heard sig style sights will work so going to be trying that. Again great review as always like watching your videos
Interesting firearm Don! The Masada line of pistols are excellent and makes me want to shoot one and try this model out!
I love IWI. I have the Zion in 556. The galil ace gen 2 in 762 and the Jericho in 9 mm. Looking for a tavor in 308 and would love the Masada tactical. But now loving the new Masada Slim
IWI or IMI guns or rifles are battle proven !!! My service rifle was a galil back in the jungle of colombia and those rifles will not fail ever even with the humid rainy weather we had all day long for months I’ve seen AKs failing more than galils same goes for their pistols I got a new Masada just for the sake of old times and I put 2k rounds out of the box mixed dirty range ammo and ate it all like nothing !!!! I’m my opinion it’s a Glock killer same like the galil is a AK killer !!!
That is one awesome gun.
Thank you for the great review. Always appreciate what you do.
It will take the IWI Jericho 17 rd mags if you want more capacity. The Larger Masada mags don't fit as they are thicker.
Would be amazing if it was 380 or even 32 with 15-17 rnds +1. I love these smaller guns but they're even better with minimal recoil
Maybe they'll make a model in 30soup for y'all high cap guys 😂

If you think 9 recoils too much you need to train more. 380 sucks now that they released these micro 9s
Masada Slim is great. Tough to find though and currently not many holster companies are supporting it right now
Good looking pistol! Looks like better option than 43x too.
The Glock 43 is just a tiny tiny bit smaller, but I prefer the Mesada.
It may not have a mag extension yet but it takes the CZ-75 mags so there are MANY options. Even the 50round CZ75 mag.

The standard Masada compares more to the Glock 17 than the 19 due to size and number of rounds.
It's a sweet shooter.
I'm sure this slim version is good too.
EDIT: Just went to handgun hero, and the standard Masada is actually in between the Glock 19 and 17.

Hello Sootch, Thank you for this video, I just want to add that according to the Manuel there is a Chamber Indicator on the right side, when the chamber is unloaded the indicator is flushed against the slide. When the chamber is loaded with a round the indicator protrudes out of the slide - and exposes red color. The indicator can be both visually and physically identified either by sight or feel.
Any idea why my friend and I couldn't get that darned pin to slide back in after (first time) disassembly and cleaning? We gave up and I'm left temporarily with an inoperative weapon. We made sure the cut side of the half moon head was facing the slide, tried holding the gun upside down, and tried again and again to align the hole properly. More than frustrating.
hey scootch ! i know that in the end its a very individual decision about the feeling of a gun in your hands but i would love to hear from you which one you like more - massada 9S or hellcat pro in the term of handling , trigger , aiming sights , slide release button etc .
Great video! I’m glad to see it compared up next to the hellcat pro. I’ve been really researching and riding the fence between the iwi masada slim and the hellcat pro. As far as the way they shoot, can you recommend one over the other. I know masada is a solid company that builds some of the best weapons in the world and I like that. The price of it being almost $200 cheaper than the hellcat pro concerns me but heck, if I can save money that’s a win!
i'm glad that MR sootch00 took the time to told this real history about massada but in nowadays Israel is facing same issues because is surrounding by his enemies but is kind different now because the prophecy became to reality and Israel is a powerful country again and enemies are just biting the dust 🙈😁 HazaHaza Israel Gam Sule Tova 🇮🇱

The masada slim has replaced my sig and glock sold those. Only thing the slim doesnt have is a good light mounting which is fine , as i dont want more weight on ccw, A light is for a duty gun.
My larger duty gun is cz p07 which can share larger cz75 mags with the masada, then my pocket gun is kahr cm9.
The takedown process is trash. Looks great other then that.
I can't find these anywhere
I really wanted to love this but the pin removal concerns me. I don't like small loose parts that can be list easily. If the reliability is good enough that it is unlikely to require a field strip under less controlled circumstances ,I can get over the loose pin.
1911s suffer the same concern but they are fantastic range tools ,so a loose part isn't a deal breaker ,but something to consider.
I am happy with my Hellcat Pro for now.
Of course I also have XXL hands.
Bothers me as well. Tiny pin, if it falls into foliage .. better carry a magnet in your kit 🧲
It’s impossible to fall out. It’s under pressure from the barrel lug when the firearm is in battery. That switch is just a fail safe. The barrel lug falls down into place. When reassembling, you have to push the barrel upward so you can get the pin into the correct position.
