Another great video. We just got back from a vacation in Coeur d’Alene. We took a trip over to Kellog just to check out Radio Brewing after seeing their beers in a lot of your videos.
That looked like a good time. Nothing like a little cold weather to make you appreciate the good weather next trip. Timber is looking good. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
Looks like you two had all four seasons in one trip! That storm at the lake Day 2 was a good one! Nothing like an ice cold brewski at the vehicle when you get out! Looks like an amazing area! I need to get up to Montana one of these years!
Enjoyed this early season outing y'all had. Thanks for the Montana views, blue skies, dark skies, wind, rain and grauple all. I'd swap some of this southeastern heat for that stormy, cool Montana weather in a flash. But my Whitefish MT friend is tellin' me that area is way to warm for Montana even in July. 90 degrees as I write this and it's 92 here. Can't wait 'til Colorado in October.
Being from Montana, I grew up in the Beartooth Mountains. This is a classic Montana storm. It doesn’t matter what time of year. I just got snowed on July 3rd driving the Beartooth Pass. Great video and memories!
@@mountainwanderer Agreed! Keep making videos, I like your commentary and style! It was fun running into you a few years ago with HYOHWU when I was hiking with Sarah and AOWS!
@@mountainwanderer Haha no worries! Yeah, I usually pack a raft (aka The Yacht) with me to pretty much any alpine lake as soon as most, if not all, the ice is off in the spring/summer/fall.
That's a great trail! Hiked it last year. That weather looked horrible. I hate it when it's windy like that. The upper basin is amazing. Too bad you didn't get to explore around. Love the Selway-Bitterroot. Thank you for sharing! Hike on!
As soon as we decided on this lake, I looked up videos on it and yours popped up first! I had to watch it (.. again). I fully intended on getting over to where you camped and staying there, but when I was crossing the outlet and got to the point where we would have to get our feet wet, the wind was howling and we were freezing, so it was a quick "NOPE!!" and we backtracked to the other side. I really wanted to check out that upper basin!
Excellent video Travis with some incredible views. The wind, hail and snow must have been brutal by the lake. Nice to see those full creeks. We've been in a hot drought for the last 45 days and our water levels are very low.
Nice video Travis. I would take that cold wind and snow over this heat wave we are having. My son and I have a 3 nighter planned for the Mission Mountains this week..On the fence right now.
For a bit there I thought you were training for the Olympic Mountains - busy trailhead and uncertainty regarding campsite availability at the end of the trail. I’m guessing the weather worked for you as well as against you. Thinning the crowds and pummeling those who stay. Looks like i would be a great midweek trip. That or get on the trail very early.
We really did get lucky with the crowds! At the lake there were 2 accessible campsites (without getting wet) and we got the one that was away from the main trail. Maybe everyone knew the forecast and were getting out of there before the storm hit.
@@mountainwanderer As long as you can stay dry and have a means of warming up. Nice thing about hammocking is it feels far less cooped up when you are under your tarp in your hammock than in a tent in the ground. Heck, I’ve even sat in my camp chair under my tarp.
When we got up to the lake I thought that I could smell smoke. When I got over to the campsite I held my hand down to it and it was still warm. It was really easy to get started again. Although it is bad form from the kids who were there before us, but it worked out for me because I was freezing when I got there and snow was on the way in!
I see you made it up there! I haven't run into any of you all on the trails, but sometimes we hit them well before the "season" starts. We made it up when there was still 6' of snow on the "trail." For whatever reason, youtube has dumped our views all of the sudden- even the shorts! We never did any social media cross promotion of any consequential nature though. The struggle is real!
@mountainwanderer if we knew all that, both our views would be in the millions! You are making some good videos. Paired well with audio and voice over.
Should have told me you were in my neck of the woods, coulda grabbed a beer in Missoula! Little rock creek trail gets hit hard every year by the water runoff, definitely one of the rougher trails in the Bitterroot.
I figured you'd be on top of some peak somewhere! Little Rock Creek was raging! When we were sitting next to it eating dinner, you could feel the power of the water!
Just started, but thought I would add my first comment: Timely! We are planning a 4 night loop in the Selway (hopefully getting into the Crags). Coming in from Hwy 12 side. OK...now I will watch your vid :)
Howdy, Bro: thanks for your vids. You do the dirty work for me. I'm in Osburn so I remember when the selway/bitter, the Bob, really were wilderness as in... you weren't probably gonna see anybody! I haven't been in this area, super sweet terrain and I'm going to get there someday, late fall to avoid the maggots. Thanks for showing us little rock lake. Glad it wasn't all smokey. Take care....
Even bad weather makes for a great trip.
True story, Mitch!
Timber is awesome! Beautiful area - just as wild as the Rockies here! 👍😎🇨🇦
Timber has been an awesome trail dog! Thanks for checking it out!
Beautiful lake but very windy. The mountain crags were awesome. Thanks Travis!
All of those crags were really neat!
Another great video. We just got back from a vacation in Coeur d’Alene. We took a trip over to Kellog just to check out Radio Brewing after seeing their beers in a lot of your videos.
That is great to hear! I hope the beer was tasty!
Nothing like a good storm in the mountains! Love the shot of you standing by the fire in full rain gear as the storm rages, making the best of it. 😂
I was wearing all of the layers I had! But I have to get out there and experience it!
Great to see you and Val out for an adventure.....and Timber too, of course. Nice views as well. Enjoyed.
I love any trip when I can get out with Val! She is an awesome hiking partner!
That looked like a good time. Nothing like a little cold weather to make you appreciate the good weather next trip. Timber is looking good. Thanks for the video and take care, Al
That is true! I'll be dreaming snow storms once the real heat gets here!

All four season is right! You should take a tour through Montana if you've never been, there is some amazing backpacking there!
@@mountainwanderer I’d love to do that. Wyoming this summer but possibly next year. Might revisit the Uinta Highline Trail next year!
Wyoming has won my heart as well! A trip on the Highline Trail sounds awesome! Might have to try that myself!
Beautiful! There's no weather like Rocky Mountain weather! 🎉
Amen! ❄️ ⛈ ☀️
Until you try Olympic Mountain weather!

Yeah, we have made the switch and went from temperamental summer to inferno summer! Fire season is on it's heels...
Very beautiful nature
Thanks for watching!

It is a typical storm for sure. But I will say, the Beartooth Highway, that is another beast altogether! Incredible country!

Grant! I didn't realize that was you! I just tried to get HYOH-WU & Sara to go out with me, but they are living life in the fast lane these days.

Good lookin’ trip even with the wind!
That wind was brutal! Cut through every layer I had on!

That had to be a touch hike in, in all of that snow! That sucks about the views. I wish I knew how they made their choices
