Favorite SUV in this class. Beautiful, modern, elegant, and unique, even after a few years on the market now. Nothing else like it in the segment. Lincoln Aviator is probably a very close second - hopefully you’ll get one of those to test soon!
It's weighs 5000lbs despite having a 2 liter engine. It doesn't achieve anything special despite being complicated and they add the power and torque wrong I think. Then there's the price
@@V1ralB1ack It has the refinement of top-tier luxury. That is pretty special. The interior is exquisite. With the right wheel and tire, this has some of the best ride-quality and refinement of any car outside the top-tier luxury brands like Bentley or Rolls Royce. It also has an amazing sound system and is probably the safest vehicle in the world right now. What I think makes Volvo special is comfort, family friendly approach and luxury. Like the OP said, this has he looks and elegance that stand out. Not all cars have to be all about speed. Comfort matters a lot.
I’ve owned one for 7 years, as a daily and road trip vehicle next to a few german high end cars we own and it has been a perfect all round vehicle. To the point that I have since changed others and kept the XC90. No issues in 70k kms, great build quality and reliability. The downside has been the brake rotors that warped easily early on, Volvo changed them under warranty and I have since upgraded to drilled aftermarket EBC brake assembly that fixed the issue. Smaller wheel size would also improve comfort, but with the air suspension it has been a wonderful car to drive long distances in Canada. And it performed quite well in snow too, considering the unique AWD system on the T8. We will probably keep it until its served its purpose for years to come.
One thing missing is electrically adjustable steering wheel with memory. Something every other competitor in this class seem to offer and if car is used by 2 drivers regularly this is must have. Otherwise it is absolutely amazing car.
Hey Topher. A little suggestion: Can we take a look at the engine in the beginning of the video? Just a little look when you go around showing the car.
Hi, me and my family have been looking for a new hybrid car and thanks to your really great review, we might order one. Keep making these great POV reviews ☺️👍🏻👍🏻, greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰👋🏻👋🏻
I compared xc90 and BMW X5 hybrid and chose XC90 eventually. First, X5 hybrid doesn't give you 7 seater option, and the second-row seat doesn't recline or be moved. Second, a big surprise to me is that the XC90 drives more smoothly than BMW despite the 2.0 L engine. To me, BMW drives a bit sluggish. BMW has a gorgeous state-of-the-art infotainment system and longer electric range. So it's really a toss-up between the two. Eventually, the practicality and interior look and comfort made me choose XC90, and we love it!
That’s exactly what we did, and 4 years and 50k km later with the exact model as seen in the video, we have zero complaints. Everything has been top notch and on par with the best in the industry. The build quality is really excellent.
I haven’t seen any reviewers mention this but there is no way to schedule your charge. So if your house is on an EV electric rate, then you will have to plug in your charge manually each time to take advantage of the EV rates. Volvo mentioned that they only supports this feature in the U.K. but not in the US. Makes absolutely no sense!
Well it's a brand new car so too early to tell what issues will start cropping up in a few years but in general they are as reliable as any other car in that price range. If you're buying this you're hardly thinking about maintenance costs, this is upwards of $90k
@@sammylam1649 yeah a lot of things could go wrong with that many parts, tbh an in line 6 with a turbo could be much more reliable, together with electric motor
Yeah this thing is gonna TANK FAST. This is 100% a car to LEASE, unless you have the money to upkeep this car. Otherwise if you’re interested in driving this, then lease it.
@@lordmeme_ Leasing only makes sense to people who drive less than 12K/yr, this car is meant for people who drive more than 25K a year. Leasing gets really expensive for anyone driving more than 12K/year...and why get this car if one is only going to use it for short trips?
Agree 100% Its a great car and very very comfortable, but NEVER would purchase and own one long term because of the engines. Turbo charged AND supercharged AND A plug in hybrid lol
@@keereshsathron7262 That's not true. Volvo was at its end under Ford ownership. There would be no Volvo today if not Geely had bought Volvo. Listen to review instead of focusing on your hate against China.
This is a horrible suv and company. I purchased it in 2018. They have squeaky breaks ( known issue just google) that the engineers have been unable to resolve. Electrical issues. The infotainment system and navigation is very unresponsive and low tech for the amount money you shell out. If. You are going foreign and have the money spend on German or Japanese , not this junker.
seriously the best looking car i've ever come across, other than the V90. volvo makes some of the best looking cars i've ever seen.
what's wrong with the v90?
@@trkk7047 "seriously the best looking car i've ever come across, other than the V90."

why american models have 6 seats and european have 7 seats?
V1ralB1ack getting 51mpg while weighing 5000pounds is already incredibly special

Sorry, but if you expect issues in 70k then you can't say the car is reliable. If you would say "no issues in 200k", that would mean something.

Yes i really like the emblem as well
i agree. the engine bay can sometimes tell a lot about a car
I am still VERY in love with this vehicle and still wish for it (in Dark Blue). I would 10 thousand percent get this in stead of "range rover".
The denim blue makes this car look AMAZING. I prefer the Thunder Gray and the Denim Blue and they look AMAZING.
I just picked up one today. Is amazing

Only disappointed by the lack of arm tests in captain chairs
It’s really comfortable back there regardless.
Same colour as my xc90 inside & out.

You should review and test drive the new Volvo S90.

Btw, great video e review, I like your content. Keep like this 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Re-design the centre console to something more minimalist and it'll be the perfect car.
Hell noo. We have enough of touchscreens. They are hard to use when driving. We need buttons back.
this is about as minimalist as you can get homie

Like the topher pov review
I watched it on a American test and it struggled doing off road. Tyres? Possibly but the electric rear drive didn’t work well.
This would be a great adventure rig.
So no third row in the hybrid?
There is definitely a 3rd row in the hybrid.👍
Literally displayed the third row lol
Good job.
I love Volvos
One of these days, I'll drive one of the vehicles you have reviewed and play Pink Mirrors through its sound system.

Does anyone now what song that was at the beginning of the audio test?

The XC90 is to big and the XC40 is to small but the XC60 is just right
I currently have a 2017 Lexus RX450h and would be considering a 2020 T8 XC90 to replace it later, is the XC90 better than the Lexus RX ?
Hello what is this song you play on 16.28 ??
