- Here's my very best of 2022! 2022 Has been an incredible year for Banger Racing. This was defo one of the best years looking at all the big crashes we have seen! Hope to see you all again in 2023!
What is Banger Racing?
Banger racing is a tarmac, dirt, shale and chalk track type of motorsport event popular in countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands. Old scrap vehicles are raced against one another, with the winner being the first to the checkered flag after a set number of laps. Contact to damage an opponent's car is permitted and encouraged within the formula, with cars progressively becoming more damaged throughout an event. Races are held at an oval or tri-oval circuits that are up to 1⁄4 mile (440 yd; 400 m) long; however, on certain occasions, races are held in a figure of eight configurations. Banger racing is often confused with stock car racing, although there are differences between the two, despite often racing at the same tracks. Banger racing is also often confused with Nascar.

Bloody hell! I thought the Brits were hardcore when it comes to our banger racing. But, compared to the Dutch we're nowhere near! Some of those hits would probably have got the driver banned from the race.

A brilliant compilation. The first couple of big smashes were ridiculous, the speed that a couple of the cars crashed into the pack were hardcore. Have a great 2023 and cheers to all the drivers and crews.

Some of the artwork on these cars is really good! Weird tangent to be sure, but dang there's some real talent there amongst all that warped sheet metal.

Wasnt rotten but it was all polyester. He was alright like RStoffie said. Just had to cut the steeringwheel out.

I find it amazing how a lot of these cars get destroyed and then next segment they are already fixed
This looks like a lot of fun but I wouldn't want to be out of the race on the second lap after putting all that work into the car.
In that case make sure you are fast enough so they dont run you into the wall 😉

Seasoned demolition derby driver here. Goal is to be last car running in that sport. I watch a lot of banger racing but I dont understand it. Can someone explain why someone would follow in and destroy their car in 1 hit other than pure entertainment? Like how is it scored etc. Thanks
First one to pass the chequered flag wins. Thats the only way you can win but there are prizes for best entertainer as well. You can race or wreck thats up to the driver. We don't have a lot of prize money so why would want to win if you can have a good adrenalin rush.

Wait...I thought this video was from USA, I would have never guess it is from Europe! It is crazy, im all in for racing but I think I have found my limit, those cars are like paper boxes!
What's the point of crashing into the stationary train of cars? Doesn't that just make you not finish the race? Even from a fun standpoint, I think It's more fun to continue the race than crash into the back of someone lap 2 and end the race immediately just so the crowd can have a chuckle.

Where do they find all these classic cars? Do they buy them from classic car collectors (which is cruel)? Or is it still possible to find that many 30-40-50 years old cars at scrap yards?
They find them everywhere. Most of the time rotting away somewhere in a field.
Theay really are trying to kill each other, but the authorities are keeping them safe, keep walking sillily.

Injuries are very rare so i would say pretty safe.
it is very safe, you are completely secured with seat belts, behind you there is a roll cage that is very strong ext ect so you have even more safety things!
Must be alot of people who become concussed from being hit like that.
Been involved in oval track racing for years and I still don't see what the point is in this type of racing.

I'm surprised to see the appearances of the confederate flag on some of those cars, especially as it seems that most, (if not all) of these clips are from banger racing outside of the US.
These races are in the uk and Netherlands and yeah some like to use them on American cars or its part of there paint scheme
