As a Moab born and raised, I love this. These tourists breaking their 80k rigs on trails my father completed in a 15k shortbed K10 gives me life.

This is an A+++ comment. My uncle had a Willy’s Jeep on his ranch that he would let his nieces and nephews run around his ranch in. In fact, I would use it during deer season and killed my first muley while shooting his 280 Rem across the hood. Simply awesome memories. Thanks hoss!

15K? My XJ costed me 1100€ and I don't think I've put more than 3K more in it.

When I graduated hs my grandfather bought me a 78 cj7 304 quadratrack no lift just put some 33's on some 10" offset wheels for a good stance and that jeep was unstoppable only time I had to be pulled out of a hole was when I ran out of gas loved that jeep.

Expensive Truck/Jeep owners: “You need a highly modified rig to do this!”
*along comes grandpa, roaring out of the 1940s in his little unstoppable war machine that sat in a barn for the last 70 years*
Expensive truck/Jeep owners: *existential crisis realizing they spent way too much money.*

It's all about weigth and power, 45 BHP is not enough to break axles on 980kg Jeep + you have a huge chunk of cast iron in the form of a Go Devil engine sitting pretty low so the chances of tipping over are neglible compared to a modern jeep sitting on a 6 inch lift and 40+inch tires. It still takes balls to take 4 brake drumbs down steep slopes, but really, the weight is where the strength is compared to modern day Jeeps.

Proof that you don’t need an overpowered engine and crazy electronics to go off-roading and have fun. The electronics take a lot of the thrill from the ride anyways.

And there is a reason the military used those tires for so many years

I’m not an expert at telling the year a jeep was manufactured so I don’t know whether these were made before 1950 but that is my guess. 1950 was the year the name “Jeep” became a registered trademark and thus a proper name. Before that, most people used the word as a reference to a type of vehicle - narrow, short-wheelbase - high ground clearance. They were no more inclined to capitalize the word “jeep” than they were to capitalize the word “truck”.
I like to watch videos similar to this one because doing so makes it easier for me to imagine the reaction of the GIs who first drove them. Most of those GIs had never even seen a 4-wheel-drive vehicle - much less driven one. They must have been absolutely astonished at what the jeeps could do compared to the cars they had driven. And keep in mind that many of those GIs were from families that had never owned even a rear-wheel-drive car.
Beginning in the 1980s, my wife started saying “It’s 20% vehicle and 80% driver. Some drivers understand geometry and physics without necessarily having taken classes in those subjects. That these guys understand both is obvious by the WAY they drive the jeeps.
THIS is how we taught our children to drive - first in low range first gear with a manual transmission. If more kids started out that way, they would cause less mayhem on the public roads when they get their licences.
Finally, thanks for not using “music” when you made this video.

I bought my first Jeep about a month ago, 2003 TJ Rubicon, and while its a nice rig, I've watched probably a dozen videos from your group in the Willys rigs, and a rig like Bam Bam it looks like I would have as much or more fun in it, than in anything else I could ever find. That thing does awesome.

From the beaches of Normandy to the battle in the ardennes then on to Berlin the jeep was there saving lives and kicking nazi ass for my grandfather the jeep was so much more than a vehicle .god bless are vets and all who serve today and those who will tommorow

Pretty impressive for the stock tires and open diffs in these things. I can here the axel shafts breaking in this junk... definitely one of many week links in the flat fenders. I had a bone stock 43 when I was a kid that we took places it had no business being. We didn’t know any better and sure we got stuck plenty of times but never managed to tip it flip it or get hurt. Fast forward 40 years and there are places I won’t take my locked up CJ making 4x the power with a full cage and no excuses. I guess the though of having to turn a wrench on broken junk keeps me from acting like a 15 year old. Great video.
