The Bimota and it's exhaust note are droolworthy. That Honda RC 30 in Red, White, and Blue....even more so! Would be fun as hell to ride. Your Buddy, Pete, would love those bikes!

The V-Due was the bike that broke Bimota, the fuel injection system proved too costly and unreliable, the few around stayed carbed, but what an effort given that KTM/Evinrude spent some money for 2T fuel injection only in the last few years. And the owners got three grail bikes from the 80s and 90s, some collection.
Wow, and I thought my friends RC 51 was rare. Bimoto ? Never seen or heard of it, trickery everywhere. RC30 good luck and try get your hands on one of those, might have to dig in to the 401 to make it happen lol

When they first came out I got a chance to ride one. Myself, Joe Carrillo, and mult-time Daytona 250GP pole setter Al Salavaria all rode it up above the GG bridgefor a "Twistgrip" magazine article about the bike. Unfortunately, we were all VERY disappointed that day. The bike ran like absolute crap. Anyone who knows 2 strokes, knows the way they make power when they "come on the pipe" as they say. Which normally occurs CONSISTENTLY at whatever RPM that particular motor wakes up. Not the "V-Dookie" 6k rpm in one gear, shift, wait, 7k rpm this gear, still nothing, then WHAMMO! from bogging turd to screaming beast... AT WHATEVER rpm it felt like at a given moment or gear. COMPLETELY unpredictable, and downright scary. Combined with the lag in throttle response on DECELERATION! So only did you not know when it would hit either hit like a freight train from one gear to the next, it would then continue to pull... WITH THROTTLE CLOSED! WTF!? And OF COURSE, the photographer wanted some good wheelie pics. Oh boy, here we go! All 3 of us being known as guys who could wheelie just about anything, ALL tried on that turd. One time it would bog. Next time it would clear it's throat and try to loop you on your head. So I got off it and turned it over to Al. What followed was one of THE BEST rear brake stomping loop-out saves I have EVER witnessed! After Al tried clutching the bogging beast up several times, it finally decided to wake up and stood straight to 12 o'clock with poor Al smashing the rear brake and the V-Dookie STILL TRYING to slap him over backwards! Throttle completely closed, motor still pulling for that critical quarter second or whatever TF small amount of time which at that point seems like an eternity as your contemplating the impending dismount! A very collectable, and not so fun to ride bike from my experience. Supposedly, they ran WAY better with carbs than the original FI. But I think I'd just hang it on a wall instead. And yo Jr! I still got that time capsule 93 900RR if you're interested! 😉
This bike almost killed the company itself because the problems this bike has such oil leaks, seized pistons and intermittent power delivery. Many of new owners even returned the bike because of the problems.

Did they run the RD 500 YPVS motor ?
The RD500 used a V4 engine and this Bimota uses a V twin developed specifically for this bike. Hope that helps
