  • On a Christmas weekend away in Scarborough, I came across the 2 locos shown in the video (a 3F Jinty and a Triang 08 shunter) in an Antiques shop, both priced very reasonably at just £15 each, which I was able to get knocked down to a total price of just £25 (£12.50 per loco).
Today we take a look and unbox (unbag!) both of these locomotives and also take a look at a GWR railway plaque I also bought at the weekend, before we delve into giving the Triang Class 08 Shunter a full overhaul and service.
Everything I show in this video (aside from maybe the methods of body removal) is applicable to any Triang 0-6-0 and X03/X04 motor.
During the video I'll go through everything you need to do in order to get an old Triang / Triang-Hornby 0-6-0 locomotive back up and running again, in addition to an in-depth look at how to properly maintain and service the renowned (and still very much in use and loved across the model railway community) Triang X03 / X04 motor.
This video is ideal for you to play alongside servicing your own locomotive if you're unfamiliar with the process and / or doing it for the first time, and then you can follow along with me to make sure you don't miss anything imporant.
The service / overhaul video for the 3F Jinty will be coming soon, once the replacement traction tyres and the 4-pin DCC blanking plug arrive in the post.
