I totally agree with the first tip, at the beginning I was just having fun, flying my drone around and hoping for the best. It made editing so hard, while trying to find a way to fit all of the shots together in a way it made sense. Now I'm trying to have a clear idea of what I want to shoot and how the drone shots will be linked with the camera ones and the editing is much faster
What a brilliant way to add value - giving a way a simple file structure. And I'm using it. As a new video editor, I'm consuming your content like mad!
I've LITERALLY been stuck on this video for an entire evening, re-organizing my mess just like you have it organized!!! I was really lacking some structure and its amazing how it makes you feel so uninspired, now fixed THANK YOU!!!!
03:15 This is something I recently realized that made me steer away a bit from live streaming on Twitch and focus more on creating, planning, and filming content for UA-cam instead. Great advice.
Wow, I never thought of the folder structure! What a no brainer that is! I started using the shortcuts in DaVinci, but never even thought of the folder structure! Thank you for that tip! Peace!
I saw your 2 year story where you describe your journey as a content creator and free lancer , really inspired me now I have seen several of your videos and the way they are structured created are just shocking. like good font transitions and footage and overall the way u plan your videos and send the message to the audiance! thank you for the tips! and the thumbnail hahah
organisation is one of most important skills that many of starting creators needs to learn because you just CANNOT get quick and quality videos done efficiently . You're just hard working inspiring youtuber... "just" we all wish to be that just
So true.. I have to keep reminding myself to put music & photos into the project's folder before dragging them onto premiere pro :") keep up the good work, looking forward to your color grading tutorial!!
seriously, this orange and blue lighting in your videos is so sublime ... is it solely fysical lighting or software edit combined? Thanks alot for your amazing content... by the way .... you said and i quote: This amateur edits on a trackpad .......... bro .... **** i only see pure pro editing skills* huge respect. as a beginner your content is sacred. 1000x thanks
Very interesting video! couple a couple of questions though: - What's in the "general" folder? - And what do you do if you short clips that could be used for multiple purposes in multiple video projects? Where do you save it then? - what if you shot some footage without any designated project in mind, but you want to find it in the future in case you going to work on a project that you think it will fit. How do you save it then?
I enjoyed your approach to this. :) Consider setting the tips up as 5-6 pointed ⭐️ or polygon as to how many tips you’re going to be giving, at the beginning, then listing them as you’ve done? Did you consider the usage of 1. a mouse/trackpad, when 2. elevating your laptop and screen to higher, eye-height position?, 3. along with getting an external (roll-up) keyboard? Ergonomics makes a real difference in posture fatigue and focus, because disrupted breathe-flow affects creativity. “Keep the chin over your heart and belly, not over the desk and telly” would a good rule of thumb. And, how about getting a saddle chair?
I already have coded some bootstrapper for my IT development projects and so on.. Like, give a name, what type of project it is, and it creates folders, downloads scripts and tools and make templates.. The renaming is also done automatically.. But it inspired me to enhance it for video editing and media design.. Maybe adding also some information about where I stored the projects in some text form also.. Maybe I link it here when I am ready..
Dude, so good! Im so glad i found this channel. Excellent advice and so much value you offer with the downloads. Keep up the great work. You will be a leader in this industry.
Can you send me a doc with your list of shortcuts and then I can enter them into premiere on PC and I'll send you back the file of your shortcuts for PC users?
Life changing video! I somehow felt that I am editing quite inefficient, because I am just starting out. With these tips I will edit ten times faster ;)
Oh I searched so much fur such a powerbank 3 years ago, cause my wacom mobil Studio was also empty in few hours and one hour if rendering. I generally like your video and to listen your voice
Hey Niklas, amazing content!!! I started my own UA-cam career about 3 months ago and learn new things day by day. But your advice on creating a PremierePro template is going to be a life-changer! THANK YOU SO DAMN MUCH FOR THIS TIP! If I am in Berlin the next time (from the looks of it, I suppose it is Berlin, right?) I will definitely make sure to buy you a coffee or two! It's the least I can do for all the time your advices will save me in the future. Mach weiter so! Du hast jedes bisschen Erfolg verdient! Ich wünsch dir das Allerbeste! (sorry guys...this sounds more sincere in secret german :D )
For me it helps to just use a certain editing method, so that it is not necessary to think about small specific things every time. You know what to do, so all you have to do is do it.
Thank you for this. Your tips helped me to edit thrice as fast. The script writing before hand and planning my edit gave me a framework for the video. Really helped in making professional videos.
I also use the trackpad to edit everything and not using a mouse any more for like a year now! It helps when you travel or on the go. It's just a laptop, a charge and the external drive :) Great video!
Indeed very true. This is the thing I love each content you made, It makes me ride on your thinking. I try to capture portion by portion of your editing strategies. Thanks for sharing
SUPER GOOD VIDEO!!! It was really good to watch and lot's of good values on how to set everything up and speed up the workflow! German Efficiency ✊😎 Keep up your high-quality production Niklas.
Subscribed. I also use premier pro. What increased my flow was master the short cut, and have a process ( idea -> Script -> design the flow -> Prepare -> recording or voice over -> Editing - Ship the video). but what slows me down is my internet and hardware but quite soon I’ll be buying a new computer.
Bro, I also edit with my trackpad and shortcuts, you are not alone! Moreover, its indeed super time efficient! Thank you for the nice work and great example! Will be working on improving the quality of my videos, with you as a refference
Great tips and helpful. I only work with Final Cut Pro in stead of Adobe, but I can use the tips which you provided in the video. I would say keep up the good work and make more of these videos on your channel. Not only production videos like this but more while traveling.
Tip 2: Get rid of distractions... Here I am, a freaking noob at editing, trying to edit my noob-ish videos, getting distracted by your awesome video. You're videos are addictive...
As a full time video editor of 12 years I can relate to a lot of your videos! This was dope great tips, love your style of editing! Do you have any advice on where to sell video templates
I'm really interested to know what keyboard shortcuts you use, but I'm on PC. Would you take screenshots of the Premier shortcut window, please? Then I can manually enter them. Also, how do you organize your library? Thank you so much for the Folder Structure Templates! 💜
Love your videos bro. Always incredibly engaging and high quality. Love these tips and have taken lots of notes. Keen to see more videos. Keep killing it
Hey Niklas, I've been a silent watcher of yours for some time. I love your style and I'm going to see how your shortcuts work with this structure. I'm wondering if at all possible, could you make a video about vlogging. I desperately want to start vlogging in Jan of next year. I have learned a lot and have become a much better filmmakter within the last two years, but I often get stuck, with coming up with ideas for broll for voiceover, or just broll for the aroll shot. How do you decide on what to shoot, how long do it take you to shoot broll for one video, how many clips of broll do you normally have, and what is your process for pulling the aroll in with all the broll, how do you plan it all out. I hope you can answer this and create a video for it, I would greatly, greatly apprciated it.
Thanks for the tips Niklas! I have a question: if this library is a collection of assets used in projects, wouldn't you rarely use the Project SFX/Music/etc folder, given that you might as well save it in the library folder and drag it into the editor from there?
As always an awesome video. Your content gets better and better from time to time and now also regularly, really nice. Which tool do you use for organization and could you maybe make a quick tutorial for it? I guess it's asana, right? Unfortunately, the keyboard shortcuts do not work on PC. At least I always get the error message that the shortcuts were created with a different version (Mac). It would be great if you could offer an update. Keep up the great work!
I try to keep them coming regularly but I don‘t really have enough time due to other client projects. 😅 Regarding the organisation I work with „Notion“ which I really got to like. 👌🏽
So underrated, great content man!
He's gaining 500k Subs in an year, is that underrated ?
I totally agree with the first tip, at the beginning I was just having fun, flying my drone around and hoping for the best. Now I'm trying to have a clear idea of what I want to shoot and how the drone shots will be linked with the camera ones and the editing is much faster
This is the best workflow video I have seen by far! I have watched A LOT!!!
Very good tips mate! Thanks for the video ;)
What a brilliant way to add value - giving a way a simple file structure. And I'm using it. As a new video editor, I'm consuming your content like mad!

When he was banging his head on a desk, I was like, I feel your frustration brother😂

Love these tips. Your hook-in’s at the start always gets me. So catchy and epic. I’m really inspired
Wow, I never thought of the folder structure! What a no brainer that is! I started using the shortcuts in DaVinci, but never even thought of the folder structure! Thank you for that tip! Peace!
Love the blue/orange-red light color look.

Yes, Win Movie Mkr have keyboard shortcuts. Letter "M"- cut vid, "O" - cut down photo (for example). Easy, convenient. Love it.

Time laps with camera movement that was amazing bro I love it.
*I have a very similar workflow structure as yours, except I don't talk in my videos.😀*
I really appreciate your content, and all your tips. I think we need more people like you in the filmmaking community !

For relatively short projects (15 mins or less) I use LumaFusion on an iPad Pro 12.9. The folder idea is a good tip.
