Warframe:

DE is bigger than you think and continues to grow, SoulFrame is mostly Steve''s thing from what i understand, it's an entire different game with fantasy elements, it has nothing to do with Warframe so far
man we have had a lot of ups and down with Steve, but hearing that news crushed me really. He's seriously a pro, no matter what. Sure, sometimes he has strange, weird ideas, but thos strange weird ideas shaped WF as we know it. This is truly the beginning of another era

yes, I must harken this sentiment as an old man in 2015; the weird and odd is what I came into back in 2015, so it will be different to not see steve doing steve things, but I'm hopeful for rebb; she's been like steve's protege for a long time and feels like she's steve adjacent as it were

My issue with Steve has always been that he's _really_ excited to try the "new", but he has problems with the _carry-through._ Tries something shiny and exciting, then seems to get bored and never quite fleshes it out or properly ties it into the rest of the game.
People have been iffy on Kahl and his new missions, but to her credit Rebecca has done something rarely seen in this game: _returning to a new mechanic in a timely manner._ We first experienced Kahl near the beginning of the year, and about six months later we've gotten new Kahl gameplay (though I really hope this shit eventually ties back into the main mission loop). Before the year is out, we'll be doing more with the Drifter in Duviri.
I'm hopeful the recent spat of QoL changes is a sign of a future focus on fixing up old content, leading to DE _finally_ taking all the disparate content islands and weaving them into each other. Hopefully Reb's lack of experience in this role, the movement of talent to Soulframe, and business/office politics don't scuttle the attempt.
I am hopeful that Rebecca knows what she’s doing. I think she’s the best choice to take over Steve’s position.
It's been told that Rebecca has already been leading for the past 6 months!
PR wise, definitely the best choice. Let's see if she has the skills to manage it internally though.

Steve isn’t actually going anywhere lol, he’s just directing a new game, he’ll still be in the studio and helping Rebb out with directing Warframe.
Remember, Steve’s main job was giving directions for the quests in the Lotus Saga and keeping the engine up to date and optimized. The Lotus Saga is now complete, and he will still maintain the engine since it will be used for Soulframe.
As I’ve said to others, Rebb has shown a desire to fully flesh out some older content and properly clean up old issues, which is definitely necessary now.
Hell yes! Old content is totally broken, boring and 2015 meh graphics. So hard to get friends into the game!

@@Gerlaffy Maybe the idea to refresh old things is good but shut up with your "meh graphics" (no offense). It's okay, not every player has a nuclear power plant to run next gen graph, RTX and all of that shit. Furthermore a pretty damn large part has low/middle spec 'machinery' (including me), and these graphical updates makes all things worse. Don't get me wrong, optimizations are good but improving the picture makes me struggle. And it's not even the main thing to make effects look 'swoosh' and picture look 'woooaah'. I'm sick of this part of game development nowadays. Apparently half of the problem lies in that "rich" and dim-witted part of consumer. Think I went too far with that screeching. Hope you'll understand what I mean.

I really didn’t expect Steve leaving to hurt me as much as it did. On one hand, I want them to branch out and keep trying to do more things since they have been stuck with only warframe for so long. But on the other hand, I’ll miss his little mini livestreams he did before a major update and him geeking out about a new lighting/sound/particle tech that he really wanted to put into the game.
They couldn’t have pick a more deserving person to replace him, but man it really feels like the end of a big chapter of warframe
I mean, he is leaving for another project, but that doesn't mean he's leaving the studio. I don't think anything's stopping him from pitching in from time to time and seeing the progress made, maybe even give some new ideas or helping with some stuff. He can't and probably won't ever fully detach from Warframe.
This game keeps transforming in ways that i would have never...NEVER imagined. This journey is simply unique, we had dark times with this game, we had amazing times and seeing the dawn of a new era for this game coming upon us, it leaves me speechless
Steve, even though you're leaving Warframe, I can only thank you and wish you the best

And yeah, Steve and the rest of the "old guard" leaving Warframe to work on Soulframe is bittersweet, but it just makes me excited for what happens next. A new lead will help inject new life into this game. I'm also exited for Soulframe, because while it has the older devs working on it, their creativity isn't going to be hindered by development baggage from a 10+ year old game. They can stretch their wings just as much as Rebecca and her team can stretch theirs. This is a win/win imo.
Also let me remind u this. Pablo is lead designer. The same guy that has made some of the best Warframe reworks. And I know he was behind Yareli and the Ash rework but there are always bad decisions that are made by good people
Seriously agree with this, you have to cycle new people into a creative team to keep it alive. I bet we see a whole new Steve pretty soon as he gets to work on a new game with new ideas.

Congrats to DE Rebecca becoming the new Creative Director! I couldn't imagine anyone else taking Steve's place. She's always had so much passion for Warframe and the community and I'm confident she'll do an awesome job.

"wtf is Warframe anymore" is the best line. Last couple major updates dealt more with the Tenno then Warframe themself.
I think people saying Steve leaving spells the downfall of Warframe are wrong. A game is a team effort and a big chunk of the rest of the team will still be there. If Warframe is gonna end it has been on that path for a long time already then. Imo the game will keep on chugging along like usual. Hell it could improve drastically who knows? Obviously I could be a bit too optimistic since I don't want Warframe or Soulframe to die or fail. Anyways my best wishes to both teams.

Vid was hilarious and on point. Having to constantly move volume up and down for super quiet and blown-out audio was not fun though - arguably more enjoyable than the Tennocon server issues though.

Im only worrying about the fact that DE is a small company with small budget and they already had problems with warframe updates in which new game doesn't help at all so finger's crossed that we doesn't end up with only 2 big patches per year

Changed so the Warframe is more like Amar (the wolf Archon), with good mobility and stuff, maybe a 4th ability that changes it into wolf form (kinda like Sevagoth). Stuff like that ?

Can't deny the sound part was the most fun of Tennocon.
Y'know, I don't care if Veilbreaker and Duviri appear to be entirely self contained modes, they look dope af, and so does Soluframe.
My truest hope, is that Steve and Scott take the genius that made Warframe what it is and put it into Soluframe, and that Rebecca can breath new life into Warframe now that Steve isn't babying it. Thats the best outcome from this change in management. Like its still scary, because I fully believe that Steve held this game together even at time it felt he was also holding it back, but Space Mom is behind the wheel and were ready to pierce that veil. I can only hope that I can rope my friend back on to his PC file once crossplay has launched and can carry him through past the New War.
The problem is that Warframe is entirely made of these disconnected "content islands". Railjack. Open World Bounties. Steel Path. Each of them have their own style and reward system that does little for the others. Save for The New War quest, there's nothing that ties them together with any sort of consistency. Veil Breaker and Duviri looks to be more of the same.
That doesn't mean I won't enjoy it, but it is a flaw that should be recognized as a problem.

@@cosmicdistortion4350 Yeah, except there's no build that's been found to be viable to go fly around in archwing mode and blow stuff up; its only good for jumping between ships. Getting to use a necramech in the otherwise "normal mission" part is the only fun benefit from it all.

And i have nothing against live service game if it is made well and honest. I mean Warframe is f2p live service, Path of Exile is f2p live service.. and both those games arent bad or "diablo immortal".
Imho, DE really nailed movement and all in Warframe, that knowledge with a melee combat and bit of precision in combat and you have something close to souls-games, combat and mechanics wise.
In multiplayer that is a niche that only exists in souls-games and imho it would be smart to get "on that train"...especially if you are doing a mmorpg game and will have co-op multiplayer like Warframe has and i heard Soulframe will have.
All in all..we will see :D
