That’s actually so cool, it’s SUPER RARE to have 100% in ethnicity like this, the world is huge and I’d guess that there’s a very small percentage of people with a totally pure, same-ethnicity bloodline

its not that rare here--im half finnish living in finland-- and many people who i know that have taken a dna test are 100% finnish

@@lassehaggman You dont have to inbreed for that to happen. You need no more than few thousand people to avoid inbreeding. There are millions of finns.

you are wrong. Finns have always been isolated in the past from everyone else so at least 95% finnish should be expected from any finn
@@puskamuha9000 In my experience just about everyone has at least Swedish relatives, a lot have more or less slavic too, German is not uncommon post wars. Not to mention, if you have even a little bit Romani somewhere in you lineage, which is also not that uncommon, you can get anything from these kinda tests xD
Love how this quiz goes "Now you know how Nordic you are!" and just gives you the number of correct answers you got. Doesn't even remind you how many questions you answered. I'm born and raised Canadian, but the largest percentage of my heritage is Norwegian and I grew up in a Norwegian heritage group.

We actually have some family in Canada, but it's not very common to know of or still keep in touch with the descendants of people who moved from Norway so long ago.
We still receive and send them letters every Christmas!

You should definitely read the Kalevala :) very interesting stuff although at times it's a bit hard to read because of it's verse type but I definitely see how it was inspiring for many artists such as Tolkien :)

I did the DNA test a few years ago. Got the same dumbfounded reaction, being 100% Finnish just felt, eh lame. Would have been fun to explore another culture from 'the inside' if you will. Although that was not the reason why I did the test. Wanted to find out if the family secret everyone was suspecting but no-one knew for certain, was true. It was. Fun times.
Being 100 percent Finnish is not lame Finland has 10 to 13 percent with people of ughur East Asian blood

I'm half Finnish through my mother.What always got me was how damn fluent she was in Finnish, even though she spoke it only with her mother and brother. She even could read read letters from the old country. All those double a''s etc. . Very hard language!
I am mixed so I really guess that's when the fun happens. I know I'm Italian (for the most part. My dad's relatives are all from southern Italy and could date at least a few generations back to Italian origins). My mother is Ukrainian/Russian. Only her dad was Russian not her mother. So that would be interesting to check on.

I was sitting here like "?????" for a few videos, and then found one where you told about the Finnish roots and stuff, and then I was less confused.
Also, I want to take the test, but I'm such a poor student.. there should be some Italian, Swedish and German in there, would be interesting to know if it's all true or nah. At least there's a family tree that goes back to some swedes that came to Finland, but the family trees that should have the information about the Italian and German roots are lacking information. :(

This video reminds me of when I did my DNA test thru National Geographic - I was always lead to believe I was mostly German and a dash of Irish but within my results, I found I was 21% Italian and like 0.4% (which I know isn't much but lol) Mediterranean...I have never let that go, I was like WHOOOA 😂😊

oh, so that's what the "no moi" is about. I had been thinking it was the French word for "me", and wondering what the heck you meant by it.

I used to work as a programmer for one of these companies and when they started doing dna tests they contacted me "hey... 20 bucks and you're in" at the time I did it for fun, because I used to believe the bs my parents told me "we are purebred whites! No one is whiter and more pure than our family!" yeah my childhood was fun. Anyway when I've got my results, I was shook. I'm a supreme bastard y'all! All of România and Europe came together to make me! I even come with Irish frosting and Finnish sprinkles!
But the Romanian part explained a lot. It's still sad that I can only make theories about my family and I'm not sure if I want to know why they kept our true heritage such a secret.
But the coolest part to me were the 1% Nigeria. Everyone outside of Africa has them, they're a leftover from the great migrations 70-50000 years ago. I was raised to believe that I'm a nobody and a pointless person. But having that bit of huge history in me made me so happy. I was suddenly part of something great and amazing.

I've seen a few other European UA-camrs do tests like these and they always comes back with greater than 90% of their country of origin. I think these tests are more designed for Americans because of how mixed blooded they are. Just my opinion haha 😄

The thing about dna tests for genealogy... They ONLY have data that they have. If you belong to a small group, or a group that hasn't submitted dna, you will have "unknown", or even outright errors in your "dna genealogy". I have a Choctaw ancestor from a VERY small subset of the Seven Nations. None of the males have spit in a tube, so my dna does have a few "unknown". If I hadn't spent 30 years working on my own genealogy, I would be very confused.

Is his name really Joinen? Or is it changed from something? Because it doesn't mean anything in finnish and he pronounces it very different than a finnish would. Dont know if this has allready been answered somewhere. Just interested.
