Really great instructions, helped me with my install today. I have the vacuum line and I struggled with that a lot, even broke one side clamp but it's sitting pretty snug. Thanks for the video.
Good informative video. Bought the same intake and my fitment actually was terrible. Installed it several times and had some reputable speed shops look at and agree the mounting post didn’t seat properly in the rubber grommet hole. Called and supplied CTS Turbo and the customer service was absolutely negative 5 stars. After countless pictures they said they needed for an RMA or replacement shield housing they claim nothing was wrong and they would accept a return with me paying shipping and a restocking fee. On a intake that didn’t fit my BMW 435i GC. Stay away from CTS Turbo. They could have made well with a $5 investment but instead decided to tell a paying customer nothing is wrong and not accept an RMA.
I am sorry you had such a bad experience.. that sucks.. my fitment was just fine and not had to deal with the RMA side of the business. Sorry to hear such a bad situation.
I know right? I've been watchin this scrub's videos and I always think the same thing. Talks too damn much. Cut to the chase man! No one wants to hear a weenie voice.
Thanks for the great video. I have installed it on my f30, but how have you solved the problem with the high temperature from the cooling hose? The aluminum part almost sits on the cooling hose and the intake pipe takes all the heat from it - the intake air before turbo becomes much hotter (especially in a traffic jam) than with OEM. Contacted CTS Turbo and they said, that the intake temperature before turbo doesn't make an impact on performance... So, they make it just you to have some great Instagram stories?
Interesting insight about that housing right there and interesting thought.. I have noticed the warmth of that piece, but at least on the surface agree with CTS on the impact. I appreciate the feedback!
Thanks for the video! I've just completed mine and now it's throwing a P0113 code. I was very careful with the sensor so doubtful I broke it. Any ideas?
@@amandafarr8480 it's most likely your mass airflow sensor though.. so start with checking its plugged in fully, the right direction all the good stuff. Worst case replace it..
In terms of air filter, you should check out Apexi. The exterior is designed to direct the airflow, more effectively compared to this one imo. Plus it is a dry filter with outstanding filtration. "test" here: mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/index.html
So great question, and CAI parts can and do advertise HP improvements. I think its possible that could be, but no real good way to prove it. I dont have before and after dynos for just that component to show any change. What you do get is an easier to clean component and significantly different sound.
i just installed the Injen air intake .. car is stalling engine is shaking on and off .. wonder why i did it on the weekend and i'm off today. if not i'm gonna but to oem back.. I CAN'T AFFORD CAR STALL IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR TURNS ,, GOSH I KILLED MY BACK DOING THIS OUTSIDE WITH HEAT )
@@BMWDIYGuy Just replaced maf sensor same I think I must have a leak still but how ? I put the oem parts back , now I can hear hissing sound as push throttle
@@BMWDIYGuy well put the oem back.. still having a rough idle especially on start up ,, when i stop at light ,, car acts like it's gonna stall but then back on .. now with original air intake i'm driving , , i also had replaced maf sensor but same problem.. vacuum leak maybe??
I warn you guys for ever buying from CTS turbo. My downpipe did not seal properly against the turbo since the flange was warped during manufacturing. This is hard to detect and will cause o2 reading issues. Also one of the nuts was welded shut and did not fit. The downpipe flange itself is also much thinner than stock, which will cause less clamping force against the turbo. After I contacted CTS it turns out they are real scammers with no support. They don’t give a shit and don’t answere phone calls. I wish I would have read the reviews before buy. It seems a lot of people has issues with them, ended up costing me a lot of money and work. Never again….
The semi circle that the intake rests on doesn’t seem to be flush but that’s just my ocd. And the plastic black cover that was removed with the T20 barely fit back in its place. Also the bolt hole that is located on the frame was just a big square opening so there was nothing to secure that part of the intake to. But it’s done and sounds nice! lol

Glad to hear it was helpful..and yeah.. the vacuum hose can be silly tight sometimes. Great job in getting it done though!
So on my vacuum line it doesn't snap in or anything but it snugged up pretty good.
Your videos are awesome! I bought this same intake and your video helped a ton. I am also buying a FMIC and your other video helped.
Conner Brasher really glad to hear it and I am pleased they helped! Good luck on the intercooler, I am sure you will do great!

Great fitment tutorial! Keep it up!
Thank you!
Stop talking and run the car when you're done. Why are you describing what it sounds like when you could just demonstrate it for the listener.

Should be negligible increase in air temp, and after intercooler no difference

Easy test l, put your original back in and trivet after clearing the code..
@@BMWDIYGuy put the original intake back in? That doesn't sound too easy?

Damn the one thing I was looking to physically see someone do was the removal of the vacuum tube from the stock intake lol.
Easy.. just squeeze the collar where it connects to the intake, gently rock back and off. 8)
Does the plastic shroud that uses a torx get replaced after installing intake? The one that you remove to install the heatshield
No.. the shroud stays off.
@@BMWDIYGuy Thanks :)

Do you have an idea if you had any HP improvement? If so, what was your difference from attaching a non OEM part?

does the engine sound get louder? other than whoose and whistle sound?
Pure engine sound a little.. turbo (whoosh and whistle) is SIGNIFICANTLY louder.
open box right?
Is in an open intake system? Correct.

Never heard issues with the Injen.. make sure your MAF sensor is plugged in and the right direction, check fitment all the way around.

do i need a tune for this?
You don't need a tune change for an intake.
