- A backyard demo of cooking a quiche in the canteen cup, I t would be nice to have rocks to radiate the heat rather direct from the fire, but you can manage pretty well with some carefull coal placement. You'll also note that it didnt stick and came out as one big egg log. Enjoy
I used to watch this when I was 14 years old lol came back for some nostalgia 🤘🏼
Lol. Thanks
Thanks for this video. I'm a truck driver and cook in my cab/sleeper. Saves money and tends to be better food than what you find in the truck stops. Also as a reminder, of you are like me and dont or can't have an open fire, almost all the truck stops sell 12 volt cooking appliances. Everything from small ovens, road stove, slow cookers like 1.5 qt crock pot, coffee makers , heated mugs, small frying pan, hot cups that can boil water, and other things very useful.
Another great video! Anything about food is always worth watching, lol ... but especially to find out how to make a recipe that will be awesome when camping.
Thanks!
Very clever! Love it!
If I didn't eat breakfast 15 minutes ago I would say your making me hungry...5 Stars.
Awesome! Makes the canteen cup into a makeshift dutch oven! Looks great! Thanks for posting as a video response! 5*
I noticed you were using the tailgate of an IH Scout for a counter. Its nice to see another scout in its natural habitat. Great recipe also I will defiantly try it.
man that looks good...thanks for making this.
Nicely done !
You are just the best.. always doing what you tell others. 5* as always.
Looks delicious!
Man, looks like a meal fit for a king. 5/5!
Hell yeah that looks hella good !
Great vid. Im always looking to expand the cooking duties of my canteen kit in order to carry less when backpacking or lt. camping.
that looks f-in awesome
This look wonderful!
I want to do this!
Let see,.. I can use my silicone muffin cups and I would do some cheese too. Gosh I wish that hard cover company would make a big silicone muffin cup that was the same shape as the canteen cup.
I am going to go tell them right now!
Fantastic vid man!
Looks Delicius I'll do the vegetarian version, Thanks for the idea... I'll wait for the next one...see you...
Niiiice... maybe you can get a deal with the food network!!! that would be awesome! Keep making the vids dude, I love em!
@meatloafzombie i never did vid for it, I dont use rings, cause the lid wont fit tight, the hole are just eyeballed, I tried to center the balance with the handle closed.
you should try sunflower oil, its just as nutritious as olive oil, but doesn't degrade with high heat...it's very good , I use it to make cooking and baking on the trail also to make popcorn on the trail.
looks good, nice vid
@dirtsquirt3 nope, do tell. what part needs editing?
really cool! thanks!
Good video, I'm going to try that for breakfast soon. where did you get the lid for your canteen cup?
Looks good, I'll see if we can get those sausages in Australia
got to try that... tks
@TheSouthernsurvivor In a comment on another video he said it's a lid he made. Canteen shop sells stainless steel lids for canteen cups. Canteen shop has a youtube vid where he shows off the lid and a canteen cup stove they sell. I plan on getting both the lid and the stove at some point.
Good video. In survival mode I'd eat the egg shells too...after pounding them into powder.
it makes me drool lol i luv eggs and lil smokies :)
Do you recall what video you did you canteen cup mod with the rings/wire for hanging over the fire? Did you offset the holes to the handle side of the cup for balance? Thanks if you have the time to answer.
egg sausage log FTW!
What container did you use for the olive oil?
What kind of lid was that you were using on your cup?
@Wandering Beast. Where did you get the bottle that you put the oil in? Looks very similar to the Vietnam War insect repellant bottles.
nalgene
what is you lid made out of?
3:27 "...hi" haha
great video man! so where to you find these trail/camp recipes?
did you eat it
def a frittata. What kind of bowl is that you're using?
one simple comment. Dude, you rock!
your olive oil is ill advised, while rarely used as as a sautee oil it should never smoke. the oil you presented was black. Peanut oil for open flame or for your purposes appropriate because it seems it has a higher smoke point, meaning it won't burn as easily .
Well produced, well presented and very palatable. Do you do a practice run in the kitchen before filming?
martini carbine glad to help. My Culinary school wasn't wasted as was. good presentation. people can learn from you. 😉
duuude i see you have the proper handle on your stove is there a place online where i could get one do you know?
looks good i like ur muffin vid
Today you can use some of the OvaEasy Egg Crystals from one of their 2 oz pouches.
2 Tbsp Crystals to 3 Tbsp water = 1 egg.
4 Tbsp Crystals to 6 Tbsp water = 2 eggs.
3 Tbsp Crystals to 9 Tbsp water = 3 eggs.
and on and on.
Did you eat it after filming?
AWESOME! im tryin this next time i hit the bush
instead of the ziploc bag to beat the eggs you could but one of those workout shaker bottles because it comes with a wire wisk ball to mix easier. anyways great vid
where u gonna find eggs out in the woods...lol just messing with ya man
great video!!!
What's next? Survival Crepe Suzette?
thats SWAG bro
You can buy individual packets of powdered eggs and milk at the grocery.
It's a Frittata, good job!
i love some mash potato mini sausages gravy and dried veg lovley meal
God I really love doing this stuff :D
Sounds like Darth Vader was making this vid.
Yum is right!
use peanut oil. it has a higher smoke point and won't burn like your olive oil did. it isn't a quick or frittata, it's scrambled eggs with sausage. you will find that merely using the correct cooking oil your eggs with?l not be brown,. burned and bitter. eggs should never be brown and the only olive oil to even attempt to waited with is the cheap 3d pressing and peanut oil will no go stale as quick as olive oil or safflower oil which does not have a smoke point like the peanut oil. Peanut oil will not go stale as fast.
nice try. just get the right oil and don't burn the eggs.
@1234luke1234lukei got mine at a local surplus
Did you eat or trashed it?
ate it ;)
you climb a tree and try to steal them from the eagles !
p.s. watch out for the sharp claws !
@GetAtMeFOO seattle surplus
super ! ! ! . . . ;)
the little smokies had cheese in them

Because.
@T4EVER1000 you bet
Now I'm hungry! ★★★★★
it would be nice if u put some cheese in there too
@glockfan86 guyot design squishy bowl
BAMMMMMMMMMM.........
i just make them up
dude write a survival cook book
use peanut oil. Instead of olive oil. Olive oil isn't meant for your type of " cooking". peanut oil can wanted or fry at a higher heat and not burn not like your olive oil did. egg should never be brown. that means that
i m hungry...
haha, maybe a shtf meatloaf
careful , I almost ruined a squishy using it a canteen cup, works better in a round pot.
Ginger Bushcraft hehe....
use a pen sideshow bob!
You have got to be kidding.
Nice, although it's an omelette not a quiche.
what omelette are you talking about? the traditional French omelette? no that is 3 eggs mixed and spread out in a hotish sautee pan with ingredients added in the middle then folded over for presentation.
there are many versions for an American omelette. it can be described as adding the mixed eggs to hot pan, spread over the flat surface of the pan, a it gets to set or get firm , it is folded over and older add ingredients and serve while warm, not brown. a frittata .....not going in to that a it us basically a omelet but started on the burners and finished in a warm oven.
I thought real men don't eat quiche? lol
Kidding aside, that was cool!
fritatta
keep pressing 4:11 :D
chickens DUH! lol
thanks little smokies with cheese only reason to to get out of a sleeping bag except bodily functions or the forest fire will be in between you and the car in two minutes
oh then your perfect haha
knowing me i'd mess up and use gun oil.lol
