that’s just how chen’s coach, rafael, is on the exterior. i’ve read enough books and interviews to feel that rafael is very supportive of his students and strives to make them independent individuals. coaches just have different ways of teaching (i have no problem with this as long as they’re not abusive). rafael was impressed here but i’m sure he and nathan were also thinking of what could’ve been if the short program had gone just as well. either way, it’s in the past and nathan has grown because of it. :)
Now that I know how painful it still was for Yuzu during the Olympics, I wince every time I see him land on his right foot. But you would never have known it at the time, he skated so beautifully!!
Hanyu will get well soon! Because he is such a nice guy, kind, polit , humble and considerat, with best wishes and blessings from fans, he will be OK 😚

No, his last element didn't include the change-foot spin. Otherwise, with the level 4 technique distinction, he could have made a WR. It was beautiful, nonetheless.

Tatiana & Maxim are still the best couple to me! I keep re-watching their FP in Sochi with goosebumps all over my body! Alina is the true queen of Figure Skating, her programs are just masterpieces! That was a phenomenal competition between the two of them! Just like Plushenko vs Yagudin in 2002.
He lost a level with his final combination spin going flat on an edge. It's not that uncommon for him to make that mistake (and I say it as his fan, he is my favorite).
R. I love Yuzu but I also know that he got level 3 for his last spin. That's probably the reason he got 1+ mark lower than his world record. Maybe one can argue that he deserved a better PCS, and i actually agree with that. Let's not start a war here. :)

It's technical all so perfect, but I miss the love, emotions, joy while skating. There will never be anoter Gordeeva/Grenkov, Plushenko, Katarina Witt and, and, and. They somehow made the audience feel they were skating just for them.

Well even Yuzu loses, Orser Wilson and Briand always makes sure that their students are loved, they don't lose confidence.

Look at the quality of Yuzu's jumps! They are so fluid and breathtakingly beautiful.
