@Big Bad John I understand your sentiment and enthusiasm for the return of Steak and Ale. It's always exciting when a beloved restaurant brand makes a comeback, allowing people to revisit their favorite dishes and relive nostalgic experiences. If you have heard news or announcements about the return of Steak and Ale, I hope it brings you joy and the opportunity to enjoy their offerings once again. 😊
Not sure why you say no one misses these places. As a child I really liked Red Barn, Chi-Chi's, Arthur Treacher's, and others. Bikini's I could do without, but to claim no one misses these places is a bit of an overstatement.
@Rose Prevost I understand how it can be disappointing when a favorite restaurant closes. Cheeseburger in Paradise was a restaurant chain that offered a tropical-themed dining experience, featuring burgers and other American-style dishes. It's understandable to feel a sense of loss when a place you enjoyed dining at is no longer available.😊😁
@Alverant It's great to hear that you had a positive experience at Cheeseburger in Paradise! While the restaurant chain has undergone changes over the years and some locations have closed down, there may still be opportunities for it to make a comeback in the future. 😄
The OG roadhouse will ALWAYS be loved at least by me , spend my childhood there with my fam n hell u were encouraged to throw peanut shells on the floor
Yes bro I loved Roadhouse. Now I just go to Texas Roadhouse, it's almost the same but I'll miss the OG Roadhouse. They don't let you throw the peanuts on the floor anymore because of COVID.
@OneWingedAngel1916 That sounds like a wonderful and nostalgic experience! The original Texas Roadhouse, with its unique traditions like throwing peanut shells on the floor, holds a special place in your heart. It's those cherished memories spent with your family that make certain places truly unforgettable. 🤩
@Sonya Fox That's a funny coincidence indeed! While Steak and Ale wasn't originally started in Texas, it's interesting that the last Steak and Ale you dined at was in Dallas, TX. It just goes to show that restaurants can have a wide reach and can establish themselves in various locations over time. 😁
Really hope Steak & Ale makes a comeback soon. The one closest to me closed down when the chain folded and was replaced by a Ponderosa in 2011. They closed almost three years later. Maybe a part three soon covering that and a former chain called Hot n' Now? Also, saying that nobody misses these restaurants is a bit of a stretch.
They really weren’t replaced by Ponderosa because, they were still in business back then, there is one still up and running in Kentucky and, I lived in Greensburg, IN from 2003 till 2009 and, sure enough they had a Ponderosa up and running! None of the Steak And Ale’s were actually located were put or near the old Ponderosa Locations! The last Steak And Ale Restaurant,I ate was close to midnight by the time we got our food was in Dallas, TX!
@Gobl 943 I understand your sentiment and nostalgia for Steak & Ale. It's unfortunate when beloved restaurants close down, and many people often have fond memories associated with them. While some individuals may indeed miss these restaurants, the statement that "nobody misses these restaurants" was a generalized one and not meant to be taken as an absolute truth. 😊

@Jason Bean That sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving memory! Steak and Ale was a popular restaurant chain known for its steakhouse-style menu offerings. It's always special to spend holidays with loved ones, and sharing a Thanksgiving meal at a place like Steak and Ale can create lasting memories. Whether it was the delicious food, the cozy atmosphere, or simply the joy of being together with your mother, it's wonderful that this particular Thanksgiving stands out as one of your favorites. Memories like these help us cherish and appreciate the meaningful moments we've shared with our loved ones.😊

I still miss Arthur Treacher’s. Granted, there’s the few that are left, but much too far from where I live. Now a restaurant I can say I don’t miss that no longer exists: Top Hats. I’m not sure if it was a regional hamburger place, but it always made my sister sick in the back seat so yeah…..

I used to go to the Bikini's on 75 & Campbell Rd in Richardson TX, one of the locations shown in its infamous Undercover Boss episode. Food quality was ALL OVER THE PLACE, and more disappointingly, the service was frequently awful. I did get to know some of the waitresses personally, and some were excellent at the job, but it was a real crapshoot. Too many times I came in only to have my waitress do a TERRIBLE job. The manager and I became well acquainted as he sincerely tried to address my frequent (but constructive) criticisms, but I finally tired of it and gave up. I suspect my experience was NOT unique, and probably explains more about their demise than the PREPOSTEROUS idea that their demographic was too narrow. As. IF. 🙄🙄🙄
@Marisa A I apologize for any confusion. You are correct that there are still Roadhouse restaurant locations operating, including some in California. While the Roadhouse Grill chain experienced closures and downsizing over the years, it's good to know that there are still establishments carrying on the Roadhouse name and offering their dining experience. 😁
@Glenn Lego You're correct that there are similarities between the Red Barn restaurant chain and the Machine Shed restaurant. Both establishments have a farm-themed decor and offer a homestyle dining experience. The Machine Shed, with its Midwestern roots, aims to celebrate the farming heritage of the region, while the Red Barn chain also embraced a similar concept. 😄
I remember Red Barn in San Antonio location back in the 1970's. It was a very good restaurant, very good hamburgers, the salad bar was ample enough to avoid getting over stuffed on food. Sorry to see it finally closed up.
@Glenn Lego You're correct. The Aunt Jemima brand pancake products underwent a rebranding process and are now known as Pearl Milling Company. In response to concerns about racial stereotypes associated with the Aunt Jemima brand, the parent company, Quaker Oats (owned by PepsiCo), made the decision to retire the Aunt Jemima brand. The rebranding to Pearl Milling Company was part of an effort to create a more inclusive and culturally sensitive product line. 😊

@Renamon 565 Yes, it can be sad when beloved restaurants or chains fail. The restaurant industry is highly competitive, and various factors contribute to the success or failure of a business. Changing consumer preferences, economic challenges, mismanagement, or other factors can all play a role. It's always disappointing to see establishments that were once enjoyed and cherished by many close their doors. 😁
