When does this research come out and how do I access it
These research tasks are currently available until September 3rd.
You can get them by spinning PokeStops. Each PokeStop offers a new random task every day, and the task will be the same for everyone who spins that specific PokeStop on that day.
Maybe a hot take.. But would be such a game changer if you could pick which mega energy you get from the task. (Example, if you get the venu/sceptile energy task you could pick one of the two instead of randomly being assigned one. Similar to how you pick tasks for party play) I managed to finish the OG starter trio mega energy to get 1 of each mega so I can just walk them now. As well as most of the recent mega raid rotations beside Aggron. (no one seemed to want to raid it) But it seems painfully rare to get any of the other tasks. I've grinded for hours on multiple occasions checking MANY stops, with no events going on and can barely get these research tasks. It's one of those, good ideas poor execution kinda things imo. I understand I'm probably a minority with this due to the fact I took a few years off playing/missed the initial mega raids hype. But would be cool to see these tasks even just SLIGHTLY more available. Seems far too rare atm, but a good idea in general with tweaks. And this is coming from a player who can take a quick drive/bus into the city. Can't imagine how rough it is on fully rural players. Is this just ME getting bad luck, or is this a thing in general? I'm open to grinding new spots around my area if maybe the ones I go to are just bad luck. Maybe even have some kind of option to pick what energy you get from gym spins instead of it being hard locked to Beedrill? Anyways I'm rambling, thanks for the content!

all of this needs to be heard fr if they lock mega energy behind raids, then the raid system (gym site rotation of spawns; general time durations: spawn recurrence, time to wait for friends to be invited, time to actually take down the boss (soloing any four star and below shadow or non should be possible via heals and Pokémon units to choose) reward releases; damage dealt and received (terrible in shadow raids even using effective 2x/4xmoves)
I love using haxorus against a bunch of team rocket bosses. It is very spammy and has a good fast attack. When breaking swipe did the guaranteed attack debuff it was so broken against the team rocket bosses

Not to be dumb but what doe the symbols mean beyond the percent% in their names? I label my 3* n 4* but not much after.
Three excellent throws in a row isn't as impossible as it seems if you know which pokemon are the easiest
i managed to get the spinda challenge when alot oh rhyhorns kept spawning it was a walk in the park with how big of circle you need for great

Hey, thanks for asking! I played as hard as I could and got over 700 XL candy, along with 28 shinies, but no shundo 😢

Is there any resource to help find desired research tasks? Besides just running around randomly checking?
no, but for everyone tasks and rewards are the same so if your friend spun pokestop he can tell you what task he/she got and if you will spin that stop you will get same task (remember tasks reset everyday)

Niantic really needs to change the amount of coins you can earn each day barely 50 coins is ridiculous I hate when a Pokemon or 2 gets knocked out of a gym when I’ve already earned my 50 for the day
The excellent throw mission was difficult but not overly hard before. I think it was perfect for what it gives as reward, but now? Now that they changed the throwing mechanics it's too damn hard, I waste too much time on it.
While catching you can turn on airplane mode and if you catch it with excelend just turn it off, but if you don't and you don't want to lose "in a row" streak close game and then turn off airplane mode and open pokemon go and try again with this method.

The power up and purify are never worth it no matter the pokemon I know that much but the rest of this was helpful haha
Disagree, I have a list of Pokemon I have marked to purify before I release them. I also have the Pokemon marked I want to power up anyway, I just wait till I get the task. That way I get a reward for doing the same thing I would have done anyway without the reward

yes, but there are a lot of them so it's hard to find one you want
