    How can he regret leaving? The team have done everything to basically force him out since the end of '21: Replace Bottas with Russell, not listening to his suggestions on the car development, not offering an ambassador role (but willing to give it to Verstappen) and then not offering a a secure multiyear contract. They lying when they say they were surprised he left. It's what Mercedes has wanted. We're going red next year onwards🏎️💜

    He wont regret the move because Merc did not want to give him what he wanted. He made the best choice for his future. Stop making it look like he had a better choice staying at Mercedes.

    I've got a great anecdote for you Cameron...
    I work at Heathrow Airport and happened to see Anthony Hamilton and his good lady wife recently as they were both boarding an A380 aircraft. (I wont share the airline or destination). I cheekily greeted them both by saying "Ciao.. Buongiorno..!" and to my delight they both smiled and replied back in italian.. now I know this isn't a big deal, but it warmed my heart that they instantly knew that I was a fan and that I was looking forward to their eldest sons future in another country. (Yes I did get all that just from a quick greeting) you had to be there 🥰

    I believe he's being honest, no multi year deal was the breaking point if you stay after 2021 then they give you a wheelchair for 2 years then offer you a one year deal for your loyalty I'd leave regardless too because Toto didn't fight for a multi year deal like he didn't fight for the 2021 championship. Ferrari's car is closed enough to bring it up to speed plus it's only right in his last chapter 🙏🏾

    Nothing to regret unless... Merc have a title winning car next year. Toto Wolff didn't want Lewis for 2026, gave him a 1+1 so he thought Lewis is not the guy they need for the future.
    Also Ferrari wanted him for marketing and to attract better engineers as Vasseur said a couple of days ago. If Lewis performs that's great, if not, it's ok, Leclerc is the one with the pressure to deliver, Lewis can just look good in red.

    Why would Lewis regret his move to Ferrari? Only because the Mercedes car seems better in July 2024? He has already achieved so much. A new team and a new challenge in the autumn of your career? Could be worse, right? It is granted to very few. It seems difficult to predict how Ferrari's car compares to Mercedes in 2025.

    They included that clause in the contract was a clear indication to lewis that his time was done with MB. They may pretend that they were blind sided but in reality, Sir Lewis gave them an honorable separation. They are happy with Lewis leaving. Most teams treat their deivers in a manner: "You are lucky to have a job here." That's how it appears of what actually happened to Sir Lewis with that contract. That was an insult. Before Lewis signed it. He was mentally gone already.

    there is no worse advice than hindsight advice. personally the move to Ferrari is the BEST move Hamilton can do. Merc just doesnt want him, the dude won multiple championships for them n the best contract that merc has ever offered was to Max, their rival. Merc clearly didnt want Hamilton they didnt even fight for him in 2021, so why should he stay.
    Max is an excellent driver and a true rival to Hamilton n defiantly deserves that type of contract, i really want to see the 2 of them in machinery that can compete n see them fighting it out.

    I think Lewis will only regret it only if Mercedes win every race till the end of the season. But just because Mercedes have won a couple races doesn’t mean they are “back”, look how far ferrari have fallen from just a few races ago when we all thought ferrari were going to challenge Red Bull. One thing for certain though is F1 excitement and unpredictability is BACK! Thank God!

    Always poetry to listen to you. Your language is unique.
    If Max takes the seat and Toto and the team gets a good car 2025 and is the best car 2026 - then everything Lewis had as the GOAT are in real danger to be beaten by Max. If Max goes to a good Mercedes team in 2025 and has 4 WC and around 70 GP wins, then I think Max is making a sledgehammer to destroy Schumi and Lewis GOATness. I think Max is to young and good to not break the records. And Lewis probably know this is a huge risk.

    • @rars0n
      @rars0n Місяць тому

      My only question with Max is how much longer he'll put up with all of the stuff he dislikes about F1 (Sprint races, schedule, etc) before he decides to call it quits. He seems to enjoy simracing more than F1, and if his vision problems are really still an issue then he might decide to leave sooner rather than later. Max loves to win but I don't think he especially cares about chasing records (it just comes as a result of him winning so often).
      I wouldn't be surprised to see Max move to Mercedes for a couple of years only to retire once Antonelli is ready to take over. He's already at the point where he can walk away satisfied with the career he's had.

    • @rars0n
      @rars0n Місяць тому

      And Silverstone is Lewis' good luck charm, too. Indeed, this is something that is being overlooked. I'm glad that Mercedes have won 2 races as a competitive Mercedes makes the field even more interesting (I'd like to see George win another race or two as well), but that was a race that really gave them the best opportunity to win. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the schedule plays out for them.
      Also, Merc, McLaren, and Ferrari need to step their strategy up a notch, Red Bull's biggest asset is their consistency in execution.

  • @rars0n
    @rars0n Місяць тому

    I disagree. Ferrari weren't at that great of a spot at the start of the season, and only began showing their upward trajectory after a few races, well after Lewis had signed. At the same time, Mercedes had just beaten Ferrari in the Constructor's, so leaving them would have still been a gamble, especially since Lewis has familiarity with Merc. It wasn't until Ferrari started performing well and Mercedes looked to be falling flat on their faces that everyone thought what a genius move it was. At one point, Lewis even said the W15 was the worst its ever been. And now that Ferrari is stumbling a bit and Mercedes have figured something out, suddenly Lewis must be regretting it? No way. We're only halfway through the season.
    Bearing in mind, not only have Mercedes figured some things out, but so have McLaren and the RB20 is still no slouch either. So none of these teams currently have a huge advantage or deficit, even Ferrari. 2025 looks to be a very competitive year. Keeping in mind that Mercedes would not give Lewis the contract he wanted, while Ferrari did, I see no reason at all why he would regret anything.

  • @mca4u
    @mca4u Місяць тому

    Mercedes have only won a single race on pace, which Ferrari did about 3 GPs ago. There are no guarantees and just as likely that Ferrari might have a better car than Mercedes from next year. Even if they have the fastest car next year, Mercedes will need to have a sizable advantage for Russell and his teammate to emerge WDC over the course of a season.

    Of course, Lewis should have no regrets over his Mercedes departure! Three years of a four year regulatory period; Mercedes are dead. Lewis is a GLOBAL MEGA brand! The Mercedes brand is NOT the Ferrari brand. In racing, manufacturers can sustain down periods with respect to branding. Contrarily, a competitor’s personal branding is built and sustained on winning or at a minimum, being highly competitive. With Mercedes, Lewis was neither for three years. That’s brand damaging! If moving to Ferrari is a total flop, in terms of being competitive; so what? The Ferrari name will offer a buffer to Lewis’ brand. Let’s be honest, Ferrari is upholding LeClerc right now; not the other way around. Ferrari has boosted many names who weren’t performing “top tier.” It’s a powerful association. Lewis understands that he can use that association to sustain his brand even in a non competitive scenario. That’s why Lewis has no regrets. It’s low risk; with a potentially great reward! Lastly, Mercedes have not won the last two races. Russell, stumbled into a win due to the Max/Lando chaos. Lewis WON his race tactically. Let’s not act as if Mercedes have produced a championship car. They are still off the pace on Sundays. Lewis earned his win but, Max was still closing in at a rapid pace on hard tires at Silverstone. Red Bull and McLaren are still far ahead…..Mercedes are closing the gap, but, they’re still not close. Keep it real.

    Merc's intentions were there, in full from way back. Maybe not Toto at 1st but other members of the board. So this has been in the making, the non fighting on behalf of their top driver back in Abu Dhabi, the sacking of Bottas, a relacing him with Russell, and the recent suspected prioritising of Russell over Hamilon himself.
    Yes Hamilton has decided to go himself, but he was gradually faded, or pushed out by the actions of Mercedes, with no backbone from Toto to support Hamilton either. So when Ferrari came knocking, is was music to Hamilton's ears.
    And it has even been said by the boss at Ferrari, if he does'nt win, he only needs to look good in Ferrari, and that's it.
    So much richer, and with the role promised to him that he required from Mercedes that he did not get after he would retired, what was he to do. Mercedes won't be concerned with that, they had their plan from a long way back.
    But if Max Does not come to Mercedes, and Ferrari come good, it could be doo doo on their (Mercedes) faces. Russell, Hmmmmmm.
    Can't wait to see how all this pans out..
