I have a salt pool. Does it matter if I use Sodium Dichlor (Leslies ChlorBrite or the Step4 Blue shock at Home Depot) vs the calcium hypochloride? Is it the same thing? Also I have been on the Leslies plan for about two weeks now and it keeps coming back so I want to try this method and there is another channel that suggests quadruple shock, and then double shock and then normal shock dose cycles. Willing to try anything at this point, I have already manually cleaned my filter grids.
I’m making the assumption that your chlorine level is low or at zero. If that’s the case, the salt generator may be bad. They usually last 3 years before needing to be replaced. As for the type of shock, dichlor and cal hypo are different but do the same thing. One is salt based and the other is calcium based. The calcium based shock gets hot when introduced to water and salt based gets cold. When using shock in a salt pool, the cal hypo can cause the salt cell to build up and require more frequent cleaning. Otherwise they are both good, in my experience the cal hypo is faster acting and seems to kill algae quicker. One side effect is that it will often make the water a little cloudy. Hope that helps

@ thanks. I did good then with the dichlor.
Does the brissl ruin the paint?
Not as much as black algae will.
When pour the treatment in . Do we run the pump or best to pour and let it sit for a few hours before running???
I think it is run the pump
My pool guy was like “you can paint it over so the black algae can go away” 🙃
