Timing us everything! Yesterday I almost started a hugs and kisses blanket, but then remembered that I really don't like chevron patterens. So this is perfect; thank you!
Thanks Mikey. I never tried the pattern before because I don't care for chevrons. I have wondered about using Bernat baby blanket obviously with larger hook. Since you've given us the multiples for the blanket maybe that's possible. So happy you're also learning new things as your teach us..🙏💕
This is awesome, your instructions are so clear and concise. I appreciate how you do not waste time yapping about nonsense. You're a great instructor. I'm working on this and it is coming out beautifully. I also appreciate how you list line by line instructions in the comments, as while I'm working on the repeat it is so easy to locate. Thank you!!!!
Glad it was helpful! I realized early on that people don't care about my back story. They want to know how to do the project and just get on with it. I prefer that as well.
Omg Mikey I love you Dude. I always think it’s harder then it is. Then u do these tutorials and I’m like omg why didn’t I try and learn sooner. So thank you so much Blessings from Southern Cali. 💕
After all my years of crochet I did not know to go into stitches and not the openings in corners as well as the starting corners I had always did the amount all at once instead of doing the last single to end row..so you do so learn something new every day,so beginners are not the only ones who learn I am so happy I listened to the tutorial people we do need to fix old habits! Thank You so much 2 new great grand baby (twin girls) and a new granddaughter just months apart thanks for the help and the pattern…beautiful 😊❤🇨🇦
I’m gonna stop playing the Crochet Crowd drinking game where I take a shot every time you say “slam in” in your videos! Lol 😂 Love love love the texture & it doesn’t look like a huge yarn eater, even with the bobbles.
Simplesmente amei!! 💕💕😍🇧🇷 - from Brazil
Love this tutorial. It’s such a beautiful pattern. I think that after watching you make this, I think I may even be able to make this too,. Ty so much. 🥰👍
Silly question: is there a wsy to use a double crochet foundation for the first row of this blanket by skipping the first four chains you make and then begin the foundation? Just s thought!!
I love the hugs and kisses pattern. I've made an ear warmer and am making a second one. Can you make video and pattern for a scarf to match the ear warmers? I would rather not have a bubble for the scarf, just the same as the ear warmer.
I started this lovely blanket and now realise that my rows are getting smaller. I will have to take it out and start again but is there a way that I can make sure that I don't lose stitches over the rows? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I love this pattern. It’s so pleasant to do. But I sadly messed up and now have an extra bobble with each repeat. I know where I went wrong. Now I have to frog it and start again. Ugh…
Hello Mikey!! Love your tutorials - can you please make one for the Caron Shells and Clusters crochet shawl pattern on yarnspirations- thank you. I’ve already purchased the yarn for it. 😊
I printed the flat rather than the zig zag version. I listened to the tutorial but still don't know the stitches in the first 5 rows. I don't know how to read the charts regardless of the review. Can you add the first 5 rows to this pattern? Please?
Mike, row 5, I that the 3dc behind the space behind the cross cross, the sc next is confusing where is it placed the same sc as the end of the cross cross stitch, it's unclear in the video
The instructions I printed out for Little Boy Blue blanket by Jeanne Steinhilber says nothing about using the back loops and uses FPtr which is my question in round 4 of the border. It says 2 rows below and 2srs ahead for the first FPtr. I'm somewhat confused how to count two rows below, that's all the way past the dbl crochet and into the sc row on top of the cross over. Where do I insert my hook, in the sc row hole between stitches? Your tutorial instructions said nothing about a FPtr stitch. Trying to share photo of the blanket without success.
You won’t be able to share a photo here on UA-cam, it is set up for the safety of the community. For your question, I am trying to make sure I understand so I can help. The video help for the border round #4 starts at the min marker 23:01, where he is going over the diagram. I am not sure I understand what you mean by “that’s all the way past the dbl crochet”. Rnds 1, 2, 3 of the border are all single crochet. So your trebles shouldn’t be going into doubles The FPTR are worked around the single crochets stitches in round two. Hope that helps
I’m trying this new pattern and I’m a little confused. If I am doing a multiple of 6 at 174 + 4 i get 176 final double ch is this correct?? Please let me know I really wanna make this blanket
Your starting chain would be a total of 178 (6 x29 = 174, add 4 stitches at the end for 178) and your 2nd row should be 176 So yes, looks like you are on the right track.
How come for the life of me I cannot keep my edges straight for this pattern. Do the turning chains count as a stitch? If so, does that mean I technically “skip” the first stitch? Help.
Sarah. In the video description is the link to the free pattern. The free pattern includes a crochet diagram where you can see the stitch counts and what stitches equal each other. That should clarify this question. Ch 3 counts as.the first dc. For the Ch 1 for Single Crochet, that's not a stitch.
Why do we see knots in the caron big cakes? The whole point of using the big skein of yarn is so we don't have to change yarn and weave in ends. Nobody wants a square knot in the middle of their project. What gives?
Yarn making isn't a solid strand as there is only so much room in an industrial cone that holds the yarn as it's being made. During the balling process, one cone may just to another to keep the machine running. If you have at least one knot, then it means the jump from the one cone to the other has happened. If there is more than one, it means the yarn snapped during winding and was tied together. This is a video of Yarnspirations Factory in the production of yarn. It may give you perspective. ua-cam.com/video/9pyMh0Ll-8k/v-deo.html Usually crocheters cut the knot out, pretend it's a new strand of yarn and attach according so there is no knot that appears. It's a technique that comes in handy. If Yarnspirations were to throw out all balls that had a knot, the landfill would be significant. Yarn, due to being fiber, can break and instead of tossing yarn into the garbage, they tie it so it produces less waste and also keeps the costs down. You may disagree but it's the reality behind the scenes.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by “that’s all the way past the dbl crochet”.
Rnds 1, 2, 3 of the border are all single crochet. So your trebles shouldn’t be going into doubles
The FPTR are worked around the single crochets stitches in round two.
Hope that helps

So yes, looks like you are on the right track.
I have a general question concerning yarn. I don’t care for yarn that is fuzzy. Do you have any recommendations?
I don't understand what you mean by Fuzzy. This yarn isn't fuzzy. This is a 4 ply worsted.
Can anyone help please. My bobbles are not lining up. I am changing colors but it is the same yarn/weight. What am I missing?.
Love it!♥

Blanket and just because it's called that doesn't mean that this is for boys it just happens to be the sample
Repeating rows 2-9 makes it an unbalanced pattern for colour changing.
