Just discovered your channel, wonderful job to say the least and so very well spoken. That may sound a bit snobbish, but it’s good to hear someone speak clearly and intelligently… 👍 stay safe..
Great video...enjoyed the narrative and also the quiet when just the hum of the engine could be heard. The lady that cut you off didn't see you because of the vehicle on her right as they were exiting from mall. Good thing your were defensive driving :) Looking forward to next episode!
You are exactly right about the truck to her right. I saw her behind that truck and made sure I planned for a bailout to my right because she wasn't going to see me. I still reacted because you expect them to see and stop, but we both lived ;) Thanks for watching! Next episodes is when the scenery really changes!
Grandparents (who passed when I was a little kid) were from the Calgary area. I've been to Vancouver briefly for business. So looking forward to seeing your video series and the beautiful scenery Canada has to offer . And maybe some day hopefully take a road trip into Canada visit a Tim Horton's. 😂
Great job Charles, we're fortunate to live in such a big beautiful country. Good filming and commentary throughout. Near Toronto here but will make plans to ride northern Ontario. Thx brother.
Nice job! Fyi, solid and double solid yellow lines are « advisory » in Ontario, meaning if it is safe for you to pass you can do so legally. No need to follow a slow vehicle for miles/km.
Hey Charles. Thanks for the video. I just purchased my BMW R1250 GS. I plan to ride from South Carolina to the Grand Canyon in September. Your seat looks very comfortable. If you don't mind my asking, what are you riding on?
Hi! It's an Air-Flow Seat Cover. It's great to prevent chaffing. It's not really to add padding or to change the shape of the seat. I use a cycle short for that. This seat cover is designed to make sure air flows between your nether area and the seat. Great in the summer months because it also renders the seat heater useless. Cheap and a child could install it. Thanks for watching!
This is great stuff. I have a plan to take my Tiger from home to Perth Australia which is around 4,000 kilometres to get there but I'm not so keen on the camping stuff. If the missus comes on the back then I won't have room for tents and stuff anyway so....
Where is home? Presumably, if you're crossing Straya, can you find accommodations if you sort of follow the coast? I've never been. One day for sure. My whole trip was around 6500km and with little effort, I could have stayed at reasonable motels every night.
@@CharlesEtienneAuger Hobart in Tasmania. I ride north to Devonport and then ferry to Melbourne and then head West. I've ridden to Adelaide and return before which is a picturesque ride if you follow the coast, but from there to Perth is pretty bland. There is a lot of red sand desert to look at in between towns lol. Not sure if you've been to SW USA but its's similar - albeit without the mountains. Yes accommodation is available but it gets expensive if your trip is a few weeks. The ferry price is a rip-off as well :( I've only done 2 long road trips but want to do a few more before I get too old. Route 66 is on the bucket list ;)
Thanks for the suggestion! I can do that in future, for sure. I've never ridden an RT but I'm sure I would love it. I picked the GSA because I liked the utilitarian style and I want to become more confident offroad. I thought it would suit me more in the long-term. Thanks for watching!
Bonjour Stéphane. Absolutely. I can't record videos on the bike in the winter so I'll talk about some of the gear. I also have a video talking about what I packed for this trip. What would you like for me to review?
@@CharlesEtienneAuger Your Lone rider geat is of great interest. As well as your suit. It's hard to find the perfect kit for every kind of weather so any insight on your experience with it would be great.
I see what you mean. I find the double yellows need a LOT of thought, for me, to pass. Last thing I want to do is pass in an unsafe section and have to deal with an oncoming vehicle. Also, imagine the comments online if I was to pass on a double yellow.. haha Thanks for watching!
One more comment…….. I picked up my RT in Lakewood, CO and after riding 863 miles to Scottsdale…I had a person come right through the stop sign like that idiot women. Then she has the nerve to beep back at you.
This is the only sort of journey for which this type of behemoth serves any useful purpose. Less than two or three hundred miles and the thing's barely even warmed up!
You'd be surprised! I take the bags off, slap her into Dynamic Pro and with a 1/3 full tank, I can have a grand old time on a Sunday afternoon! She a lady of many parts ;)
I've done 1000km+ days. About 600 miles. It's important to take breaks and I do wear a padded bicycle riding short under my pants. That really helps with the chaffing!
When I lived in Southern Ontario I would spend Thanksgiving weekends with my girlfriend's family camping in Algonquin. We'd rent canoes and portage islands in a big loop, stopping to rest, eat, or sleep wherever. Food was whatever we caught out of a lake or stream. Magnificent place.
Thanks for watching! I'm not sure I have a lot of options for getting on the thing. Swinging my leg over it just isn't possible. I pull it off for the 1% of the time the top box isn't on the bike. Putting a foot on the peg first is perfectly fine. Cheers!

That's very kind. I appreciate it and I don't think it's snobbish at all. Rubber side down, always! Cheers.
Transplanted Canadian now living in Florida!!! This is a ride I've always wanted to do. I will do it someday!!!! Subscribed!!!!

Nice job on narrating your trip to Sudbury, sure beats loud annoying music. Close call with that car pulling out
Welcome to Ontario. 🎉. Nice video. I am looking to make the journey from Ontario to B.C
You should! I had a great time! Thanks for watching!
I ride an RT, but looking at you bike I’m having second thoughts….have you done a video on the all the upgrades on the bike. Love your video 👍

10:50 Would be a bummer getting wiped out on day 1. That's always the danger on a motorbike. I hate riding in really big cities.
I avoid it when I can but sometimes, you don't have a choice. Thanks for watching!
Awesome!! this is exactly what I'm planning to do with my GS. Do you plan to give your thoughts about your gear as well?

Great video! Merci de partager. Did the Lake Superior loop 3 weeks ago. Ontario is nice but takes a while to go through. Looking forward Épisode 2 :)

Wait for me, I am planning to do the same from Toronto to Vancouver...
Do it.
What tires are you running?
The bike came with a set of Bridgestone A41. I think I'll try the TKC70 next, see how I like those. I ride 95% on pavement.

Here they tend to play dumb and act like they never noticed your hork either.. that or they really didn't notice!
Great video looking forward to the rest of the trip.
More to come!

How's the seat working out for you? How long of a day could you do with your current setup?

Man close one 44:15! The white SUV was blocking the view I guess.
That's exactly right. Gotta watch out!

I lost it at the chicken place part xD Safe travels from Portugal!

Like your videos. It would be nice if you could add a map to show your route and the places you are staying.

Super vidéo! Je suis de Québec et je viens d'acheter une GS également. J'ai bien hâte de prendre la route pour mon premier roadtrip de l'année!
