We just got our Baby Tacoma and going to use your brilliant method for bed and storage.....Also love the help from your native Indian buddy....Thanks a lot.
Hey you guys are cool as hell obviously and s*** I have to tell you as being a master Carpenter or whatever you want to call me a contractor that does this for a living it pains me to watch people use those homeowners skill saws instead of the mag 77 Worm Drive and a chalk line instead not even a drywall t-square and what looks like dull drill bits and a Ryobi drill I guess cuz the screen so it pains me to to know that people don't have a full set of tools but I understand what you guys are trying to accomplish and show everybody how easy it is so I totally respect you guys I'm just saying it pains me but anyways good job you guys
How much weight did you build add to truck an where can I find that insulated foam you put on top . I’m guessing you glued it .. your build looks really good
Awesome concept, I am currently in the middle of my build and have used a modified approach from yours! do you have a link for the insulated high density foam sleeping pads? (the black topper on top of your sleeper)
Trying to do a modified version of this. Wondering what you used to attached drawer bottoms to sides so it slides well. Was gonna screw then thought they might scrape the hardboard
Much love for the build from Colorado! What did you guys end up doing to store fly rods? Really don’t want to buy a rod vault and don’t love the look of PVC? Curious what other anglers are doing for this in their tacomas??
So total was 2 sheets of hardboard and 2 sheets of plywood correct? And were you just using scraps to cut the back wall of the base and front of drawers? Last question what were you using for screws?
do you think when the drawers are full, they will slide in-out easily? Or in retrospect would you think wheels would help? You could run the wheels in the Tacoma truck bed ribs
We've had the tacoma out on a few trips already and the drawers slide easily when they are full. The hardboard-hardboard surface slides very easily because it has a waxy finish. Not sure if this will eventually wear off but no problems so far. We thought of putting castors on the bottom but we wanted to maximize space and keep the cost minimal.
@@Sergiop4x Oh if you aren’t using it for sleeping then yes it should be okay as long as you seal it and properly treat the wood. might be beneficial to use higher quality supplies too. The only problem you might have is water or moisture collecting underneath if the sides aren’t sealed and it rains
We’re not entirely sure to be honest. James has had hundreds of pounds of gear on it. We have both slept comfortably (almost 500lbs) so you probably wouldn’t have any issue whatsoever with a small family.
@@ftroutdoors1532 thank you! Just subscribed! Planning on doing this to my taco I just bought! I have a 2015 Tacoma access cab 6ft bed with only 84k miles!

Thanks for watching this build video. Please consider subscribing to see more tacoma videos this season.
I’ve watched about 20 different videos on how to do this.... Thank you bro yours was the easiest to follow. Great video
Love this. Mine is turning out great. Can u tell me the brand of mattress pad you used for insulation?
Built something similar to this with a short bed 2004 Tacoma. It works great!

Dope build, i like the simple design!
Glad you like it!
Thank you. Just what I've been searching for.
Sick truck dude. Love the color.
Just what i was looking for thanks
Question, why not 7-3/4 instead of 9" on them sides?? To be able to sit on the tire covers that are on the bed side?
Great video! Thank you! Gonna do a variation of this on my Tacoma.

Great videos love them thanks
Nice build, thanks for the info!
Nice! Did you have a list of the dimensions of all the cuts you made?
How much weight did you build add to truck an where can I find that insulated foam you put on top . I’m guessing you glued it .. your build looks really good
not sure on the weight but the black pad you are referring to is an Ascend Roller Foam Sleeping Pad from Cabela's. Yes it is glued on!
Awesome concept, I am currently in the middle of my build and have used a modified approach from yours! do you have a link for the insulated high density foam sleeping pads? (the black topper on top of your sleeper)
wow so sorry for the late reply they are Ascend Roller Foam Sleeping Pads from Cabela's
Trying to do a modified version of this. Wondering what you used to attached drawer bottoms to sides so it slides well. Was gonna screw then thought they might scrape the hardboard
if you countersink the screws it should slide well. we ended up eventually putting a felt bottom on drawers anyways to improve the slide-ability.

@@ftroutdoors1532 could you list or send me the dimensions of the various boards (dimensions of pieces)?
Did you guys not have to secure the wood to the bed at all? Just the weight and the bed stiffeners keep it from moving around?
we did not anchor it to the bed no. It hasn't been an issue at all but you couldnt go wrong do that
Memory foam freezes that’s not a problem?
Is your tri fold mattress a full size or twin?
Can you link the foam padding you used for insulation/ padding?
TIA!
sorry for the late reply. Ascend Roller Foam Sleeping Pad from Cabela's
Would you recommend this for open bed? No topper
No we would not recommend this for open bed! it could be fine depending on your climate but you would have no shelter so it could be miserable
@@ftroutdoors1532 I have a rtt slightly covering it and of course I would stain and seal it with truck coating but I'm not sure if that's enough
