I might have bitten off more than I can chew.. Time to get a little wild!

- This truck was hauling a skid steer down an icy driveway when the trailer started to push it sideways. Luckily he kept it together enough to aim the truck for the ditch, but then as the tail end spun around the trailer and skid steer went over the edge. I’m amazed it didn’t roll over, and luckily he’s one of the very few people who actually chain a machine down in a dump trailer or it would have tumbled to the bottom.
There was no hope of doing this job from the bottom, as none of the trees above it were strong enough to snatch block off of. So I got a little wild with the @NRCIndustries 40TB rollback on a dirt road up the back side of the mountain so that I could come down from above. After that it was a bunch of small winching and repositioning movements until we got everything on the road, and then we used my truck as an anchor to lower them down to the bottom so that it wouldn’t start sliding again.
I also have to say a huge thank you to Art Davis of Davis Towing and Tire in Sisters Oregon for my Christmas gift of an 8 ton snatch block, because it definitely came in handy today! If you ever need any towing services or tires in the Sisters/Santiam Pass area, Art and Kathleen are awesome people that are definitely deserving of your business!

That was just amazing. Using the equipment available and being smart enough to take small bites instead of trying to do everything at once. You may have never said you were good at this, but the video proves otherwise. To my untrained eye, that was a masterful job.
Yes Midwest towing out of Missouri southern UA-camr with about 400,000 subscribers says take small bites and re-Set quite often.
The dude is very professional with a rotator wrecker.
Both channels are very professional
@@paulprigge1209 I watch that one too. It's impressive to see what they can do.
@@southstreetbarbecue7875 Yep, seen Ron too (though not last night's upload yet...) He has been known to use multiple snatch blocks to rescue stolen Uhaul box trucks from logging/forest roads using nothing much more than what they had and his late father's ATV with a tiny winch up front to multiply its power to get the truck to where they can get it do drive out on its own a few years back.
I agree with you sir. I don't believe I could've said it any better.

They can’t write instructions on how to do every recovery. I am amazed at your creativity, knowledge, and perseverance. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing what you do with us.
I love your videos. I’m an old lady who doesn’t even drive in snow but I am hooked on watching your videos. I appreciate how nice you are to all people. You are a good person.
I get the feeling that this recovery was about 1% Towing 101 and 99% Casey experience. Very well done Sir.
"To boldly go where no semi-based wrecker has gone before". One thing I've noticed is you don't just think outside the box, sometimes the box really doesn't exist. Good on ya, great video... Keep it up! Recover safely. Peace
When "out side the box" really means in a whole different room, possibly in the house down the block.
What’s a box??
@@CaseyLaDelle Exactly, kinda liberating, ain't it?
Every winter day drivers deliver heating oil and water in Alaska under worse conditions;)
@@CaseyLaDelle I think it's related to that Mythical thing called Sleep...
Either that or it's like that Legendary Free Time...
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure as to the best of my knowledge, I have never encountered or experienced any of them...
😄😁😆😅😂🤣
That took a lot of patience in the face of an unclear outcome. Well done.
Holy moly, what an amazing recovery!!!!! You had me holding my breath several times throughout this vid. You're right, the rollback was probably not the ideal recovery vehicle for that job (understatement of the year, LOL). And then with Alex backing your rig down the hill while you commented "I don't know if he can drive a truck or not, but what could go wrong" had me 😅😅😅😅 Definitely a sketchy recovery but my confidence level was a solid 9.99 from the start. Thanks for a very entertaining vid!!!!
"If it works, is it wrong?" In IT, we have a similar expression: "If it's stupid, but it works, it's not stupid."
Good job Casey! There was a lot going on with this rescue and a lot that could have gone wrong. You are always able to figure out how to get the job done with the equipment that you have on hand. I hope that you , Karina and Riley have an awesome weekend! 🎄☃❄👍
My man titles this "time to get a little wild" and proceeds to take a full sized rollback SNOW WHEELING down some high desert mountain DIRT roads!! This was an amazing vid dude, glued to my seat the whole time, thanks for making these, best Saturday morning stuff to watch with my coffee
It’s not wrong if you know your equipment well enough to know how to make it do what you want it to, regardless of it’s intended purpose. It’s ingenious, and experience. Poor Alex that snow really had it out for you today. I think the scariest part of this video was watching the rig slide backwards down that hill with only the front wheels turning.
Alex, trained by Tucker.
Hope you charge for the recovery 😉
@@mikewashere9660 Hey, it's tough to walk on snowy, slippery, wet grass and uneven ground. I don't blame him for falling, we've all done it.
@@frotobaggins7169 Don't you mean trained by Trevor?
Your last sentence, why do you think it was scary? Both vehicles were chained together and by having the brakes applied on the wrecker, that enabled the pickup/trailer to stay straight and also gave the pickup more braking power just in case the pickup were to slide on any slick spots. Furthermore, another reason the brakes were applied on the wrecker was to prevent any slack on the chain, so the wrecker wouldn't hit the trailer.
Casey is another MacGyver he’ll always get you out of trouble no matter what and he will do anything necessary like off-road in your tractor trailer through snow and ice and trees. God bless him way to go guys. She did a fantastic job.
Very nice recovery making due with what you have. I'd definitely say part of the job and doing it successfully is using the the tools improperly in the proper way as long as you are mindful of the associated risks. And very impressive wheeling the big truck off road
Great job Casey! Great filming Alex! I had my worries on this one but Casey had it under control! And you had some very grateful people.
Seeing you backing them down the hill with your back wheels locked up says it all. Excellent work!
I'd have to wear my brown pants to do that. Lol
Didn't realize the steepness of the grade that the trailer was on until after the rescue. Good job on using your equipment and no damage done. 👍
The camera cannot grasp the situation of that truck and trailer. Great job and great video.
So true! I'd had no idea the trailer was actually so far off and down the hillside . . from above initially (on the camera) it didn't look all that bad. The ruts once it was back on the road surface showed the true state of affairs.
This was the 1st video ever that I checked the outcome, before watching everything that came right after the picture of the situation, and you entering the woodlands.
You’re from another world…
Epic recovery. Skill, courage and a willingness to put his own equipment on the line for the customer. And Casey remains as chill throughout the ordeal as if it's a Sunday drive.
When he fell, I thought "I miss Trevor."
Yeah, so do I. Skeeter was really getting into things too.
Got to Love it when a plan comes together. Good job Casey
Excellent job Casey. In my neck of the woods you would be known as a Barnyard Mechanic for using what is on hand to get the job done. It ain't what ya got its how ya use it! Thanks for taking us along.
You just validated all my ridiculous recoveries in SnowRunner
There is only one word for that rescue AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to keep watching your videos just to see if you ever get good at this someday!
A classic example of not giving up and thinking outside the box!
Great save, you know you're going to have to change the name of your helper to Trevor. 😊
Took the tools you had available and got the job done, enough said. Was a great way to start my morning.
That was, as they say, a "Master Class" of how to salvage a difficult and dangerous situation. Very Well done.
Now that was way nerve wrecking, but you pulled it off, again. great job Casey
What's your plan?
Pull on it.
Good plan!
Brilliant!
I think you should enter the tow truck olympics against matts off road ,trailmater , and merlin . What a great job you did there Casey.
LOL, Casey wouldn't even have to drive up the obstacle, he would do it from a remote location. LOL
lol , Casey has said a few times .. he's over 1000 miles away & only gets to hang out if he's on vacation in Utah
It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Thanks Mom for your confidence.
Never thought I'd see you wheeling the heavy but thats for the great content and safe. Pretty awesome watching you impress the customer 👌
"I think I used every piece of equipment I own improperly"...been there, done that...the working man's way of "thinking outside of the box"!
Nice camera work Alex 👍😎✊
I don't think you can consider anything the wrong way if it works and you kept safety and the top of your mind or in the front however you want to say it and it's a successful job and I just get amazed every time I see you do something because you're a damn good driver and very talented on your records no matter how you use your equipment you always get it done and get it done safe thank you for the videos we appreciate it I appreciate it
My daily dose of anxiety meds wouldn’t have done anything for me that day. Another great video!!!!
Sometimes the right choice is to say NO!
Thank you Alex for having the ability to gracefully fall and continue to get the shot appreciate you Casey for taking us along on such a dangerous quest to get this truck and bobcat out of such a precarious situation
Understanding how to use the wrong equipment to get the right result is a skill all of its own. I think you did a great job recovering that in a bad situation.
Excellent comment Andrew Mortimer. Use what is available. (Thanks Dad).
Thanks for reminding me how badly I hated living up north.
"I think we got this!"...Famous last words...🤣
I hope the camera man gets a new landing cushion through all of this. Great job. I didn't understand everything you did but it worked and that is all that matters. Always thinking the name of the game in recovery operations. Never a dull moment!
I have no idea what order videos come out in, however I look forward to Grumpy getting well and coming back out. Alex seems like a nice enough bloke but Grumpy does a thing that makes the video's much better. He asks lot of questions mainly about what is about to happen and why.
This forces Casey to explain himself and helps the audience follow along. Casey is getting better at explaining himself without prompting and I'm sure Alex can pick up on this, however Grumpy is the master! I enjoy the videos I'll call it an attempt at constructive criticism (I never said I was good at it!).
I enjoy Grumpy's off the cuff commentary. Alex is really good at asking the questions and getting Casey to explain. That way we all learn.

@jt1364 I agree I have been watching him for a year and he is the best at explaining what he is about to do
Better get Matt, Rory and Paul to make space coz it looks like the tow truck olympics has a wild card entry !
Very impressing. I would have never taken the Roll Back in there as big and as long as it is. But that's why you do it for a living and I sit on my sofa and watch you. Once again, I am impressed.
Impressive, especially the backing up acting as an anchor. I've spent years in Alaska backing tractor trailer's into sketchy places, and I know expertise when I see it, and that was Expert level.
Dude!! You know how to maximize every function of your rig. Lifting the rear and scootching the truck forward….BRILLIANT!! Thanks for the best vids man!
Ps. I hope you reminded that crew how helpful that skid steer and trailer will be at the next forest cleanup day 😉
I know it's an old video but man you are the master
Your closing comment reminded me of the old song from the '70s, "If loving you is wrong, I don't want to be right"!
Good job Casey. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your video’s. God bless you all the time.
You always seem to find away to get the job done that's important part good job no matter how crazy it is
Poor guy falling 3 times. But he did a great job. And Casey you are fantastic
That was unbelievable, it took big stones and a lot of expertise to get this done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I can say is WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"You say I never said I was any good at this" does not apply here. You were great. I was holding my breath so many times but the confidence you kept displaying calmed my nerves. You had a plan or developed one quickly and got the job done. Well done! Thanks for sharing.
You sir are a GENIUS. Very impressive. Nice filming Mr. Alex.
Gary Player the famous golfer said the more I practice the better I get. Great job! All the practice paid off,
The right tool for the job is the one that gets it done. So yes, if it works, it’s not wrong.
Casey is a professional at this business and knows how to innovate with the equipment available to bring each situation to a great resolution. Watching him drive that big truck where in reality they shouldn't be is a testament to Casey's ability and perseverance to solve issues. I think Alex has well bypassed Trevor in falling and slipping. Great video, as always.
If it works and the damages are minor enough to still make the job worth it, AND don't put the truck out of service, then it's a definite win in my books.
That was some pretty amazing and skilled pulls, and driving. You made it look easy. Your camera man Alex showed just how tricky and slippery conditions really were. Frequently. And still managed to get great footage. 👍👍
Well if it works it works I don’t think it’s wrong if it works I’m a tow truck driver Florida we did whatever it took to get the job done
Sketchy works! Cautiously averting disaster is the right way. Thought you were buried at the top..... fancy moves lifting with your bed was amazing.
That was amazing!! If you won’t say your good at it, I most certainly will/do! Who’d a thunk that the roll-back could work as a wrecker?!?! You know your stuff, Casey! You worked your ass off and gotter done!! You never disappoint!!
Great recovery as usual Casey. But please tell Alex trucks use diesel and not gas and also get him a pair of snow shoes so he can stand up 🤣 . 👍
. . and some gloves. 🙂
Somehow I lost your. Podcast and could not find you. After several days I found you in my library. Now subscribed again I hope to keep your podcast. Very good broadcast🤗🇺🇸🇨🇦
That was awesome. You showed off some real technical skills there, Casey. You could tell by the customer's reaction he was impressed. I'm sure the camera only told 1/2 the story. Way to go!
Hope Alex recovers from that fall!
Impressive bit of off-road driving there. Looks like Alex is getting ever better at emulating Trevor, too! Well done, getting out in the cold and slipping and falling several times, Alex!
Cool video. Played a drinking game. Every time the camera guy slipped I had a drink! 😂
Its not wrong as long as it gets the job done and nobody dies. Well done 👏 👏👏
Well, I certainly think that was not the right truck for the job but you used what you have and you may have used some equipment improperly but its your equipment so use it how you want. That was very nicely done, not bad for a guy that never said he was good this, haha. Thanks Casey 👍
See , if that rookie Casey had stopped and picked up Grumpy, they'd had been done within 10 minutes. 🤣🤣🤣
Impressive recovery! 👍
Casey, you have big snowmobile. Fun and play on snow day, Casey takes us along on awesome jobs as this one. Wow! You're the best!!👍
Thanks for doing that. There was no way we could do it with our available man power and Al the stuff we were trying to get thru in tow.
Thank you for the referral! I was definitely doubting it when I first looked at it, but it worked out
That was an impressive recovery
You are soooo good at that.. we need to change I never said I was good at this to .. I am so good at this... Awesome Casey..
I always say the sign of a good operator is knowing how to use what they have, or how far to abuse tools without damaging them! 🤷♂️
That was a very intricate rescue Casey... respect Mate !
Great job Casey!! You and Alex made a good team!! You inventing ways to use the equipment you had to do the job and Alex doing a fine job on the camera.... and falling down!! Good stuff!! Enjoyed the whole thing!!!
As a Florida born and raised now living in North Carolina I’m amazed how people even go out in this weather in the first place. Snow is not for me. Great content and you are amazing at what you do.
"I don't know what I'm doing"....yeah right. 👌

Sorry I didn't catch the name of your cameraman, but I'm hoping that he's not too sore from those falls.
Well done everyone!!!

Great video and great job with the recovering and God bless from GA and stay safe and happy holidays
if your rear differential's could lock it would have gone alot better
Proves to me that you truck is capable.
It's always more satisfying when it's wrong!
Casey, you've set the bar pretty high with this recovery. Not sure how many people would've gone through the woods to the up side . 🤔 are we going to see a rear locking differential on the heavy truck soon ?
Nope. Way too expensive
Should put tracks on it lol
Awesome video Casey, a great man with many talents. You have a lot of talent to back down a hill in the snow. And to figure out how to snatch the trailer to get the truck and trailer back on the road safely is a lot of experience. Merry Christmas Casey
Man falls. "you get that on camera?!" 🤣
You crazy man. I know why you say: I never said I am good at this. 😉 It's because yout amazing at what you do.
Very impressive recovery, Casey! You might have not had the ideal equipment for the job, but your knowledge of the equipment you had available (and physics) made it a success. I think this might be the best one I've seen you do so far, and I've been watching since the early days of the channel. And kudos to Alex for getting it all on camera, despite his apparent traction/balance issues, lol.
Hey, your video is in 4:3 rather than 16:9 like it usually is. But it was an enjoyable video anyways. Of course, you never said you were good at this...🙂
I know, I somehow changed the camera settings without noticing. There will be another video like this too
@@CaseyLaDelle Ah, OK. I was just worried that it was UA-cam doing something stupid to it in it's encoding. I don't know what video software you are using, but many of them have tools that will allow you to expand it to the normal aspect, usually labelled "lens correction" to take the compressed output of action cameras and de-compress them.
Casey has so much patience and works calmly. Amazing. Hey alex aloha from Hawaii
I went from watching a snow runner guide to watching real life trucks in the snow lol
