this is my last solo movie review for a bit, sorry if my content has gotten a bit stale and repetitive lately. Going back to topic videos on all sorts of stuff :) STAY TUNED AND COWABUNGA!
I think one thing that helps with shit like "rizz" or "sus" is the fact that those lines came from the VAs themselves, not the adult writers. It makes the turtles feel even more authentically teen.
As a huge fan of TMNT and a sucker for killer animation this movie really made me FEEL like a Mutated reptile who’s viewed as a freak of nature by society.
Same. As much as I’ll miss the Rise boys, older fans hating on the new show is what brought it down. Me and my dad are going to watch the upcoming MM animated series
Dude I loved rottmnt so much but this movie was so good at accurately portraying teenagers. It was nice to see a movie with teenage characters that made references that didn’t feel like older people trying to be cool. Sure, the attack on titan reference was a little much, but oh my god you cannot put a meme song on a car chase and the absolute BOP “no diggity” on a fight sequence and expect me to not become obsessed with it. Also, we need that comic dub. Edit: oh also for my fellow Rise! Fans, it’s allegedly set to get another season august 2024, not confirmed but there’s still a chance it could come back!
I saw mutant mayhem for the first time the night before! I love how they actually made the mutants kinda nasty so we could see why people would be scared of them lol. And how the cast could be themselves!
Rottmnt is a great show, you should definitely review it. honestly compared to mutant mayhem, the turtles in rottmnt are more fleshed out in the show. The show also is mostly episodic so you do get moments of them acting like teens. I haven't watched the movie yet but from what I've heard its more serious than the show, then again the show is mostly lighthearted.
The Rise movie gets surprisingly dark/heavy, almost jarring at points if you watch it side by side with the show. Easily has the best Krang in the franchise though imo, would definitely recommend watching it if you can
@@Commenter839 I'll definitely watch the movie once im done with the show. I also heard that people say that it's not one of the good tmnt movies (but they could be wrong)
@@Candycloud247 Its great! There are some pretty cheesy moments, however the animation is amazing, and the overall story is pretty interesting. I grew up watching the original movies, and though they’ll always have a special place in my heart, the rottmnt movie is definitely my favorite tmnt movie.
As a person who had zero to no experience with the tmnt franchise, I really enjoyed this film. The animation and colors were amazing, the characters were also relatable and pretty well written, and even though most of the meta humor with be outdated in a few years, I thought most kf it was fine, considering they are teenagers. I just felt that something was missing when I finished the film.
Besides Spider Verse, this move was the best movie I’ve seen all year long! I have a few nitpicks, but these are easily overlooked. And freaking “No Diggity” was perfection. They were essentially Cool Teens Doing Ninja Things and I loved it. They took what I love about Rise and the 2012 series and just amped it up. It’s not my favorite TMNT (That goes to Rise of the TMNT), but it’s my favorite theatrical TMNT movie. And keeping up with the streak since 2012, Leo is still my favorite turtle. Edit: I think the main reason why the turtles referenced popular voice actors was because that’s all they know about humans through the internet. It’s their way of connecting with the outside world. Although I will admit that I wish the villains were used more. Especially Bebop and Rocksteady. Part of me wishes they stayed evil, but I have to remember that this is their own version and their own story. So just like RISE, they deserve a chance to shine and develop.
6:13 Yeah Rise does have quite a bit of lore But most of the time it's just the turtles being nerodivergent teens and just a fun time You should watch it honestly
I watched this movie instantly, even day before it released it was a total blast that I had to see it again I was waiting for your review and here it is:) Love when you do review. You are the most entertaining yt reviewer out there. Keep it up:)
well to be fair they were they were train their whole lives to be ninjas and in the original comics they were basically assasians so it made sense that previous incarnations had them act rather mature for their age.
Honestly, I find it a cool coincidence that Mutant Mayhem was animated at the same studio that did Captain Underpants and Sponge on the Run, plus the Paw Patrol films (Mikros Animation) All these films have such different styles, but this studio knows how to make different things
I genuinely think that this movie actually is amazing. As an artist, I love the sketched yet fully drawn art style, especially on some characters, I enjoyed a lot from characters from old villains like rock steady and beepbop, along with some of the new characters along with the turtles. I like how splinter is not even a big sensei and just like a old grampa taking care of their children, along with the turtles acting all pubesent and like actual teens, since some of them were vieced hy actual teens. The art style and the characters have so much personality and I love it. On the flip side my only problem with the movies is that one scene when they keep saying the word "sus." among us is canonically in the TMNT universe I'm in pain kill me
This movie is what we as TMNT needed. A fresh, new reboot that is filled with great moments, characters, humor, and animation. I really hope this reboot lasts as long as possible. This is easily a top 3 favorite of the year for me!
For decades, people like us have waited for a TMNT film to approved by critics, until Jeff Rowwe, Seth Roger and Evan Goldberg changed everything, which I thought could never be possible, until now, the critics from the past can take back of what they just said about doubting a possibility.
Will never forget when you saw my comment when I asked how you felt about the mutant mayhem trailer. I was so excited. As an avid turtle fan I’m happy you enjoyed the movie :3 Great video awesomemay Also fun fact about Leo’s va: According to an interview, he moved around so much and had a ton of energy. To the point he needed a gymnast bar to hold on to because otherwise you would be able to hear him moving. And Brady, Raph’s voice actor, said that Nic was SHAKING the bar as he said his lines 😭
This might be the best era of animation ever After the spiderman across the spider verse movie came out people relized how much more animation can be And this movie shows this exactly
Tbh, Mutant Mayhem was god tier. But nobody really paid attention to Rise of the TMNT. It was so gorgeously animated, and people slept on it WAY too quick. Kinda sad :(
Tbh rottmnt got me back into tmnt and I thank it for that and 2012 got me into tmnt so yeah and MM I didn't really watch it so I can't say anything about it

15:41 in reality , you can still make it as that Hamato Yoshi had splinter however after being enslaved by shredder , Splinter runs to New York and would stay for a long time , this would an explanation to why splinter does not remember anything
Was the chemistry between each turtle and animation great? Hell yes!! I loved especially that they got actual teens instead of the yknow hire random celebrities for the main cast tactic. Was it the best tmnt movie ever to exist? It was fun and a good time but not by any means. The plot imo was a bit of a letdown, felt rushed in certain places and didn't shake up the formula much in a new and interesting way like rise did. I still enjoyed it though. Rise really shook up the formula especially in the dynamics department. Having Raph be the leader only to shift midway to Leo and have him struggle with his new position was so interesting and fun and I"m super bummed we wont get more of it.
I love how modern animated movies are taking inspo from spiderman into the spider Verse and it shows. It was supported to have this doodle on the side of your notebook feel and it was SO GOOD.
I'm not even a fan of TMNT, but I really wanted to go see it. Went to see it with my friends on my birthday, and I gotta say, I'm so happy that I watched it, and I'm really looking forward to what comes from it.
It’s a good movie but I’m sick of hearing people say “the turtles finally are acting like teen”. They act like teens in every single iteration 2012 and onward
What i like about Mutant Mayhem, is how it actually takes place in 2023, so that the turtles actually have our 2023 humor, which is kinda funny honestly
Watch the rise of tmmt, the movie is absolutely incredible and the series was cut short cause we did it so dirty but its mainly funny with some fire fight scenes
2:56 The reason why the score of the 1990 Movie is like this is because this movie is a dark violent(only when you get to the turtles and the foot in April's apartment) and because the turtlea were a kid friendly show in 1987 at that time.
My only issues were they made Splinter a lil too comedic, and I HATE THAT THEY ARE IN HIGHSCHOOL. That’s my fav part of the turtles. They hide out because they’re not accepted but they still stop crime. It’s kinda deep
I agree! As a teenager and also do like tmnt, This is a perfect take of the franchise! Also, I recommend to watch Rise of TMNT, The stylized animation in Rise is also spetacular.

"Saved?" I mean aside from the Michael Bay movies. There weren't really cause to think that the TMNT franchise was dying or otherwise falling down. TMNT 2003, 2012, and Rise are still considered top hitters for the franchise that people still to this day remember... So again, "saved" isn’t the right choice of word. "TMNT Mutant Mayham EVOLVED the franchise." Rolls better off the tongue.
I think that the splinter and shredder history is a surprise they could easily tell us that before shredder was recruited on the utron he was the reason why splinter found himself in that situation
Personally I think it’s a better, funnier even sweeter approach to why the turtles learned how to fight. Everyone always expects the Hamano backstory but he’s just a dad who really wants to protect his sons from the dangers of the world. The Shedder can still be an intimidating and a major threat to the turtles and doesn’t need to be like the other stories with how they are connected. One of my favorite Shedders from the 2003 TV series is an alien and while the back story is still the same as other turtles it does it differently. I think not having the Shedder as the first villain is better because it has build up to Shedder rather than any other villain not amounting to Shedder. I think this new take on Superfly was a great intro villain with being what the turtles could have been if they went down the wrong path and now have allies with the other mutants that can really show how strong Shedder and his foot clan is by taking down a bunch of mutants
It’s good that the video you made took forever because people in Australia had to watch the mutant mayhem in fricking September and it was only available for six days. Basically everyone already watched mutant mayhem.
Don't know what you mean by TMNT:MM saved the franchise? It was doing just fine on its own with Rise and the Nickelodeon show before it. Honestly in my opinion, while the movie was good it just introduced the Turtles to the next generation... While kinda hurting the older generation. Personal gripe... Donatello doesn't need glasses to be the brainy one.
it was such a enjoyable movie its very well paced and was perfectly accurate to the source material even got that shredder post credits scene everyone in the cinema i was in left before the post credit scene lol 😅
Hey awesomemay! You really inspired me a couple months ago to make youtube videos! I really love your work and I love your drawing style. I just came back to say, thanks!
16:09 YEAH THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!! Hey May if you don't know Winters human name was Hamato Yoshi and his wife was named Tang Shin and his daughter was Mewa and Shredder's real name is Oroku Saki but the worst part is they didn't have Karai or Tang Shin or Hamato Yoshi or Oroku Saki but I imagine Splinter probably will say he was lying and he used to be human with a wife and daughter and he had an enemy named Oroku Saki then he got mutated into a rat or something then it would actually make sense.
I just watched Mutant Mayhem yesterday and it was so good. I loved it a ton. The art style and the characters were super good. My gosh. Also, a comic dub with you and your Dad would be sick
MAY this is a formal request I NEED you to watch Rise of the TMNT because cool ANIMATION and amazing STORY and fantastic CHARACTERS and epic COLORS and it’s actually FUNNY but also isn’t afraid to get DARK It’s literally the reason why I got into TMNT in the first place This concludes my formal request
My dad and I were lucky enough to see it four days before its wide release and I gotta agree that this is the peak of the Ninja Turtles franchise. Also, between this, Sponge on the Run, and Big Nate, Paramount and Nickelodeon seem to be having a field day with Spider-Verse-inspired animation. But hey, I’m not complaining!
"He opened another dimension every time he freaked out" this makes me imagine doni screaming at the top of his lungs to summon a rift into another world lmao
I like this movie a lot but the end was not for me. Them going to school takes away the ninja part of the turtles and I don’t know how they will do shredder with everyone knowing who they are. Just my thoughts.
I grew up watching the 87 show and the 90s movies, got into the 2003 show in high school, and watched the 2012 show & 2014 movies. My son (doesn't live with me) got into the 2012 show on his own, and I took him to see the 2014 & 2016 movies. When Mutant Mayhem came out, I saw the first showing, then a few days later I took my son to a 3D showing (and picked up Pizza Hut on the way home). That was a fun weekend.
I'm convinced that half the people who complain about this movie are only upset because they don't understand the slang XD. Also, you and your dad dubbing comics together is the most wholesome thing omg
7:45 Something I found rather funny is people were complaining about Donnie sounding too young, and yet the voice actor is literally the same age as the character
very off-topic but that music in the background of awesomemay's dad review is giving me ptsd of listening to it at bed at full volume when my alarm goes off
15:58 Maybe There's More To Splinter's Origin Maybe He Knew Shredder And He's Keeping It A Secret For The Next Movie Maybe Hamato Yoshi Is Apart Of Splinter's Origin Just Like In The Mirage Comics And The 1990 Movie Who's Knows Maybe They Will Maybe They Won't
16:46 I wish Jimmy made his cameo one minute long, 60 SECONDS JIMMY THAT'S ALL I'M ASKING FOR! Why was the only 5 seconds come on! Most of the people who saw this movie didn't even hear him at all.
My nit pick is all the goddamn BTS references...this is Donnie were talking about..DONNIE!! I get he likes anime but K-pop? Hell no he's more of a 90s 80s kinda guy [it's also shown in one of the ROTTMNT episodes]
Rise tmnt the show is genuinely just teenagers being teenagers, brothers teasing eachother but when it have to get serious it get serious but genuinely really fun!
Mutant Mayhem single-handedly got this goofy pupper obsessed with a fandom they have never even touched up until now. This movie is POWERFUL. It's scary...
This movie is good but saying that it "saved the franchise" is too much, it makes it seem like the rise movie and TMNT Shredders Revenge don't exist both of those things also helped this movie alone would not save the franchise
@@kwayneboy1524Even saying that as subjective, it's a little hard to agree with that phrase when it barely applies to any aspect of the franchise. It didn't save it from bad quality since we've gotten 2012, IDW comics, and Rise before, and it's not in popularity since the franchise has kept its popularity since the 80s show. The only way I can see some saying that Mutant Mayhem saved this franchise is if they only watched the recent live-action films and nothing else, or that they hated almost every iteration of the Turtles since the 80s.
This is my new favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie to date, I just loved everything about this movie, the visuals the soundtrack, and the stellar and unique animation, and I especially love these new takes on the characters and how the turtles truly act and felt like young teenage up and coming heroes that just want to live their lives the way they want to its truly beautiful how for once in TMNT media that are actually accepted by humanity very early on their careers. Can't wait for the sequel with Shredder

They could have that splinter potentialy say that one time he went to the surface and ran in with shredder
8:15 Well nothing we can do. Gueyes, wanna get pizza.
0:50 sometimes I forget that ur not just a silly little drawing and that ur a real person lmao
I love how it actually looks like a drawing! 😊
I saw this movie with my brother and mom and I absolutely loved it especially my boy Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo he absolutely killed it
HE DID
I never thought someone would be as obsessed as I am lol
it was such a enjoyable movie its very well paced and was perfectly accurate to the source material even got that shredder post credits scene everyone in the cinema i was in left before the post credit scene lol 😅
Hey awesomemay! You really inspired me a couple months ago to make youtube videos! I really love your work and I love your drawing style. I just came back to say, thanks!
This was my first time watching TMNT. it was awesome. it was super cool.
Hey man love ur content keep it up
I just watched Mutant Mayhem yesterday and it was so good. I loved it a ton. The art style and the characters were super good. My gosh. Also, a comic dub with you and your Dad would be sick
I’m not going to let rottmnt go, but MM is amazing and absolutely helped this franchise.
MAY this is a formal request
I NEED you to watch Rise of the TMNT because cool ANIMATION and amazing STORY and fantastic CHARACTERS and epic COLORS and it’s actually FUNNY but also isn’t afraid to get DARK
It’s literally the reason why I got into TMNT in the first place
This concludes my formal request
My dad and I were lucky enough to see it four days before its wide release and I gotta agree that this is the peak of the Ninja Turtles franchise. Also, between this, Sponge on the Run, and Big Nate, Paramount and Nickelodeon seem to be having a field day with Spider-Verse-inspired animation. But hey, I’m not complaining!
WE NEED THAT TMNT COMIC VOICEOVERS NOW!
The music in the background when his dad was talking gives me PTSD because it’s my alarm 😭
bro, rise of tmnt is the most comedic one
Awesomay: “thanks for one million on that video!”
This video in 16 minutes:
"He opened another dimension every time he freaked out"
this makes me imagine doni screaming at the top of his lungs to summon a rift into another world lmao
The plot wasn't doing it for me either. I did enjoy the animation and soundtrack. Overall, the movie's fine. Happy to see you back with new videos.
The Micheal Bay Movies were less boring then the 2007 one. That's the most credit I can give them.
THE MUTANT MAYHEM VID LES GOOOO (i actually love the tmnt fandom+franchise so much aaaaaa and the movie was so good)
I'm convinced that half the people who complain about this movie are only upset because they don't understand the slang XD. Also, you and your dad dubbing comics together is the most wholesome thing omg
7:45 Something I found rather funny is people were complaining about Donnie sounding too young, and yet the voice actor is literally the same age as the character
RIP rise underrated AF
Yep amazing show
very off-topic but that music in the background of awesomemay's dad review is giving me ptsd of listening to it at bed at full volume when my alarm goes off
15:58 Maybe There's More To Splinter's Origin Maybe He Knew Shredder And He's Keeping It A Secret For The Next Movie Maybe Hamato Yoshi Is Apart Of Splinter's Origin Just Like In The Mirage Comics And The 1990 Movie Who's Knows Maybe They Will Maybe They Won't
16:46 I wish Jimmy made his cameo one minute long, 60 SECONDS JIMMY THAT'S ALL I'M ASKING FOR! Why was the only 5 seconds come on! Most of the people who saw this movie didn't even hear him at all.
I- uh actually used to know the dude who played Mikey lol
My nit pick is all the goddamn BTS references...this is Donnie were talking about..DONNIE!! I get he likes anime but K-pop? Hell no he's more of a 90s 80s kinda guy [it's also shown in one of the ROTTMNT episodes]
Tmnt 2012,Mikey: Booyakasha!
This guy would be perfect person to review murder drones 🙂
i don’t think he reacts to cringy youtube shows
@@magicalqueeen says the one who make gotcha or whatever the fuck it’s called videos
@@Yourlocal_UA-camri still do it cause i like to troll and be cringe bby, it’s kinda my whole channel, im aware it’s cringe asf💀
The drake joke aged horribly
I’ve never heard anyone use a default Apple alarm sound as background music; with that said, no music has ever imparted such a subtle feeling of dread
Rise tmnt the show is genuinely just teenagers being teenagers, brothers teasing eachother but when it have to get serious it get serious but genuinely really fun!
The long awaited masterpiece!
Mutant Mayhem single-handedly got this goofy pupper obsessed with a fandom they have never even touched up until now. This movie is POWERFUL.
It's scary...
It's turtle mania all over again, and I'm here for it! ✊️
Also thanks for featuring my art. lol
This movie is good but saying that it "saved the franchise" is too much, it makes it seem like the rise movie and TMNT Shredders Revenge don't exist both of those things also helped this movie alone would not save the franchise
I feel like "saved" is subjective
