If I am doing a commission I will start over, but if I am just playing around I might see where the journey takes me. Sometimes you can get some neat results that way. Happy accidents as Bob Ross used to say.
I agree and that used to be my way too BUT in order to be a better artist I now treat every piece like a commission. Even the sketches. I want everything to be perfect. I want my sketches to be pieces I'd be happy to sell even if they are not as detailed as my larger commissions.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW Good idea! I do a lot of sketches from instructional books so I just sketch and not much painting. Usually it's a quick sketch before I fall asleep.
@@LAWRENCEcanDRAW The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 plus has a really nice scan feature and I've scanned a few pages, but never thought to do whole books, lol!
The Adobe PDF app lets you collate scans into multi page PDFs and safe them which is great for reference. You can photocopy anything at the library but I like to be paper free these days so this is a great way for me to do this. I can scan books I don't have room for and then donate them!!
I tend to save and continue and save as a separate piece so whatever it is I have each iteration and then I can play in any way I would like. If I want to go all the way back and start again I can because I have it.

You know you can use your phone to scan them and turn the books into PDFs. I do it all the time at the library! Complete books or just sections!!
