The work that you put in during this interview, and in post, to bridge the language barrier but most importantly let Yuki's personality come through to a foreign audience, bravo. Rare stuff.
I love the Ekiden series. Awesome interview: Two great runners just running and talking about what we all love...running! It doesn't get any better. I'm a huge fan of Yuki not only for his running accomplishments but also for his down-to-earth personality. Well done Matt and Sweat Elite!
He is a very tough runner. It was heavy rain at MGC, but he finished 4th in less than 10 minutes. Also, despite the strong wind, I kept pulling 38 kilometers at the front.
These big tartan running paths seem fairly common here in Japan. My local track also has an 800-meter tartan path around it. It's marked off in 100m increments, so it's great for doing longer intervals and strides.
Great interview! I am just missing, what is his weekly mileage? He made an allusion that 1000km/month is too much for him, so I assume he is running between 120-200km/week, but just wondering if he is on the low side (120-160km) or higher side (160-200km).
Love the video! it would be nice to have the Japanese & English subtitles throughout the whole videos consistently (just like for some movies) instead of switching back and forth
That's the problem with people, they just refuse to believe that fast athletes don't run that fast on easy days. You can run fast, but you don't have to.
Instantly clicked seeing Yuki Kawauchi

Challenging Yuki to run a Sub 2h20 in a suit was the cherry on top of a great interview 😂

This channel is one of the best 👌
Great content, Matt (and translator). Yuki is a great personality and the conversation on-the-run was awesome.
Thank you Stoic Runner!
The pace seems a fair bit quicker than 5min ks at a glance? Great chat and content Matt 👌
Thinking the same thing :)
good guess :) yes 4:40's but they slowed down to 5/km towards the end
@@sebastienbaudin3627 I clearly wrote my comment before finishing the episode...

he was saying he went up to 1000km when he turned pro and that was too much for him (lost his speed), so I assume ~800km a month

Meraviglioso 👏🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️❤️
Great vid and runner. Just a small note: it’s pronounced Kawa-“oo”chi, not “ya”chi 👍🏼
what shoes are these?
Cool content.
12kmh = easy run 🥲
Marathon supplement name please reply me sir from India
That was certainly not 5/km pace probably 4.10-4.20 per km
It’s on Matt’s Strava, 4:46/km

The sound is pretty poor
That’s for the kind words
