  • Took a day trip to see the beautiful Japanese hydrangeas (ajisai) at Meigetsu-in, a Rinzai Zen Temple in Kamakura, just an hour south of Tokyo :)
    A big thanks to Takumi for both the Japanese/English subtitles!

    We had a lot of hydrangeas in our garden and street in the UK when I was a little child. We lived in Victorian houses and these flowers were popular in that period, so some would have been there since 1880. Beautiful, reminds me of my childhood.

    I have always loved hydrangeas. The big "mop head" kinds are my favorite. Your video is the first I have ever seen from the Japanese perspective and offering that insight. So beautiful! Thank you very much. And you are both "sunny" :) lol

    とても癒されました〜。(I felt peaceful by that beautiful hydrangeas.←英語でどうやって表現するのかな?)涼しげな場所で夏にはもってこいですね。蚊にはさされなかったかな?

    That was cool. And the bamboo trees in the background of the flowers was neet looking. With all those flowers around, I didn't see any bees or butterfly's. Were there any around?

    • @japanagos
      @japanagos  10 років тому

      I absolutely love bamboos! I think i liked them more than the hydrangeas to be honest. There's an awesome bamboo garden in Kamakura, so I'll have to go back and vlog about it someday soon!

    They are all the same colour (blue) because of the soil pH - it must be low pH in Kamakura. you can make them pink by increasing the pH of the soil by adding garden lime.

    These look exactly like the hydrangeas that we used to have at the house I grew up in. なつかしい!
    The hydrangea garden looked like really nice place to walk on a warm summer day. You guys were talking about how a rainy day would be more suitable. Would it have been just as busy there if it had been raining?

    • @japanagos
      @japanagos  10 років тому

      Probably busier than other tourist spots on a rainy day since ajisais are so beautiful in the rain, but i can see some people not wanting to deal with it.

    Thanks, that was relaxing. I love hydrangeas. My grandparents had them in their yard. I also love those super tall bamboo, wow!! So what determines a sunny or rainy person? Is sunny happy and rainy sad? Do they also have a snow person or another type?

    Hi Chia I was wondering if you could tell me something I saw some of the people in the background wearing more traditional Japanese Kimonos is that a every day occurrence in respect for tradition or was is a special occasion like a wedding ?

    • @japanagos
      @japanagos  10 років тому +1

      Seasonal occasions like going to see the hydrangeas, sakura-watching, going to see the fireworks, etc. gives us a reason to dress up in kimonos :) It's mainly for fun. A lot of girls like to take advantage of these outings to get together and where kimonos or yukatas (in the summer) since it's not something we everyday.
