I enjoyed the raw video of the walk in the first place you visited.I wasn't sure I liked Kamakura as I thought the statue was the only attraction but now I know better. I'm adding Kamakura to my day trip outside of Tokyo. Thank you!
im so glad i found this channel it is very helpful for traveling around japan specifically in tokyo
thank you for all the information
Kamakura was my favorite place when I went to Japan. Beautiful there.
Kenchan you are a life saver and one of hidden gems of you tube. ❤❤❤
Your day trips videos saved me as I came to Tokyo for tourism and I couldn’t plan my trips in Japan beforehand due to my work.
What I like about your videos they are short and clear without spoiling anything about the destination.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you for such a kind words. I understand it's difficult to find a time to prepare for the trip especially among vast amount of information. I hope you enjoy Kamakura if you haven't visited yet. :)

I've been to Kamakura twice now, and was there recently in May. Definitely my favourite place in Japan so far.
Matt san, it must have been nice with lots of green in Kamakura in May. I'm glad you know Kamakura already. :)
Hello @tokyokenchan! I just like to thank you for this vlog. I literally followed you advice from riding the shonan shinjuku line to kamakura and selected three temples for a day trip. Hokakoji, the great buddha at hasedera these three are super easy to reach and that is all because of you! Thank you.
Great video and thank you for the train information at the end
Well prepared and great guide. Thank you very much. Appreciated

Thank you very much! Other than some audio glitches, this is one of the best Kamakura video guides I have watched!
Your graphics and maps really helped a lot in allowing me to visualize how to navigate Kamakura the next time I am there
Thank you for watching. Sorry about the audio. I'm glad you liked the video. I hope you have a great trip to Kamakura when you visit next time. :)

Thanks for making another video of my favorite day trip from Tokyo.
My son's first trip to Japan i told him to go there and he enjoyed. He walked a few of the hiking trails(i do enough walking i have never done the trails) , he said most of the trails were very well marked. He wants to go back.
Thank you for watching. Oh that's great he enjoyed the trails. It seems the route from Kita-kamakura to the Kamakura Buddha is a popular one. I'd like to make a video one day.
wow amazing video thank you!! Would you consider making a video about shikoku at any time?
Thank you for the video. It's giving good information. I've been thinking of visiting Kamakura this year and your video came at the right time 😊
Thank you for watching. I wish you the best trip in Kamakura. :)
Very clear information on your videos. ありがとうございます♪
Thank you for watching always. ありがとうございます。
Im happy you have a kamakura video too! Im doing mt Takao and kamakura while im in tokyo before going tobOsaka
Thank you for watching!
Great video Kengo-San! That’s such a beautiful area, so many photo opportunities!!!
Thank you Davy san! You are right, I was going to make this video 8 min. originally. ^^;
Haha! I know what you mean Kengo-San!! 😆
Another great video! Love your maps and tips for the independent traveler. Thank you for pointing out the restroom, it’s important information for some people (like Kevin) who need to use the restroom a lot…. Also it’s good to know about when walking shoes are needed or if the walks are uphill so taking the bus is easier. You are good at keeping your viewers in mind!
Kevin san, Dayle san, I'm glad the information in the video was helpful and I could give Kevin san some relieve for a long ride on the train. :) I'm trying to figure out the balance between being informative enough and not be too instructional. Thank you again for your support for the video!
@@tokyokenchan In our opinion your videos have a good balance right now for travelers who take the rail and bus transportation on their own.
@@KevinandDayle Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it. :)
I'm planning my second trip to Japan and your videos are very helpful man. Thank you for making these vudeos. I'm subsribed and looking at more of your videos. I hope you have a series about hotels too. がんばって
Thank you for watching and your sub! :) The series of hotels is like hotel review from different hotels? I 'd like to work on hotels and more rides in the future.
I'm planning a multi-day hiking trip to the Kita Alps in September and thinking about going to Kamakura on the last day before flying back to Bangkok. I had already been to Kamakura once over 10 years ago and had checked out all the famous temples and shrines, so this time I'm looking to check out the beaches and test local food like nama shirasu don. Your video gives me some very good ideas. Thank you very much!
Thank you for watching. Sounds like an amazing trip to the Kita Alps! I think it's a great idea to add some beach scenery of Kamakura to your travel. Sorry I couldn't show the Shirasu don this time.:) Have a great and safe trip in September.
thank you for sharing bro
Thank you for watching!
I decided to visit Kamakura after watching this video. Thanks, Kengo San. I went on to Enoshima and was lucky enough to have clear skies for photographing Fuji San in the distance.
Thank you for watching. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to Kamakura and Enoshima. It seems you visited on a great day that's you could see Mt.Fuji! :)
wasn’t aware that you could get clear view of mt. fuji there, i might hold off on a trip to mt fuji for another trip
Thanks!
Irene san, thank you so much for your support for the video! :)
@@tokyokenchan Thanks for making your videos, I really enjoy them. When is Hydrangea season in Kamakura?
@@irenefornelius758 It's my pleasure. Hydrangea is starting in late May and finish around late June. There are different kinds of hydrangea, so you can enjoy for a while. Kamakura is nice in Autumn too. :)
excellent review. I wish I had seen this before I went years ago/
Thank you. It's difficult to see Kamakura in a day. :)
I will use your guide on our way to kamakura in the next few days
did you like it? I needed a guide. most other vids are vlogging about they did without details.
perfect
8:39 nice transition!
Thank you for noticing. I tried. 😅
I went 6 years ago in winter and then this year in the start of summer. (May/june)
The flowers were beautiful. Hydrangea.
This time I went to the fireworks festival in zushi.
I will go back in winter early next year to explore more.
That's nice you saw the fireworks in Zushi. Kamakura has charm in any season. I hope you have a great 3rd visit to Kamakura.
@@tokyokenchan thanks.
I am taking a friend who has never been and she hasn’t been. Will be good to see what she thinks.
Hi id been following your vlogs. My name is May. Finally im here in Japan with my Husband. Good luck to us. Going to Kamakura today. Kind of chanlleging transfering of trains
I hope you enjoyed Kamakura yesterday!. It was a good weather. :)
Thats another great video, thank you so much for it. I havent been to Kamakura yet, and definitely want to go there on my next trip to Japan. I like to take my time, I dont like day trips, and I like to be there before and after the day visitors arrive (or leave). I want to visit all the places you have mentionned. Do you think that 3 nights are too much ? Maybe 2 nights in Kamakura and 1 night on Enoshima ? Thanks a lot for your advice.
Thank you for watching. I'm glad you liked the video. That sounds great. It's about the balance with other itinerary in Japan, but I'd love to do 3 nights in Kamakura. Morning in Kitakamakura, Jomyoji area, would be nice. Beach area shows beautiful scenery in twilight time too. :)
😍👍👊
Thank you. :)
Great video Kenchan! So many options of day trips from Tokyo so I'm excited to try what ones I can if I have the time. Any chance you can get a mic when you are filming outside? it is very hard to hear you - sorry!
Side note - Hokokuji looks incredible. I have it saved in my google maps already but wow it looks amazing in the video!
I liked Hokouji. I remember you changed from Hakone to Takao, Nikko to Kamakura (was it?). I hope you enjoy some of them. :) Sorry about the sound outside. I'm saying "beautiful" 3 times. I don't know what I'm talking about too sometimes so probalby it's my English problem as I don't have script outside. haha. Whichever the reason is, I'll work on it. Thank you!
@@tokyokenchan Your English is great, don't worry about that :)
Yes! Mt Takao, Kamakura and probably Kawagoe is what I plan to do. I might squeeze in a trip to Hakone if I have the time.
@@firefangz Sounds like a great plan. Thank you. :)
Wow thank you for this video! When looking at Google, there was so much informations and it was hard to tell how far things are. Now I can narrow down what I want to see and organize my day trip better!
I have a question : I have seen pictures of Sasuke Inari Jinja. Do you know if it is worth going?
Thank you for your support for this Kamakura video! I'm glad the video was helpful for your day trip planning. I didn't know about the shrine, but I think it's good to visit if you walk nearby or if it looks appealing for you. Shrines looks similar in many locations so I usually only visit when I pass by unless it's a major one. Sorry I couldn't be much of help. Thank you again!!☺️
Thank you Kenchan for this informative video. Will include this on my bucklist this August. Also can I purchase the pass in Shinjuku or online?
Thank you for watching. Yes you can purchase the pass at Shinjuku station's Odakyu line counter, ticket machines or online here www.odakyu.jp/english/passes/enoshima_kamakura/. Have a great summer trip to Kamakura. 🌻
Great video and love the information here! Would just like to ask what bus number should I ride from Jomyoji back to Kamakura station?
Thank you for watching. From Jomyoji, 23, 24, 36 all buses on the left lane go to Kamakura station.
❤ I just got back from Tokyi and I had my own version of short kamakura day trip. Asakusabashi > Shimbashi > Ofuna (Daikannon) > Enoshima (via shonan monorail) - lunch, then walk to beach & island - took enoden Kamakura (have coffee) - JR to Sakuragicho - took Yokohama Air Cabin - dinner at Port mall > Negishi-sen to Akihabara > walk to Asakusabashi (hotel) 😂
I was so tired but happy. And I want to visit again soon! Still have not visited Daibutsu and chikurin ^^
Im a new subscriber and I will definitely take notes for your videos fpr my next trip to Japan (tsugi wa 10kai me da 😅)
Thank you for sharing your experience of Kamakura day trip! That's great you saw the Daikannon in Ofuna and even Yokohama too. :) This is a great example of a day trip that there are many different ways to enjoy Kamakura area. I can imagine it was lots of walk but sounds like you could do a lot in a day. Hope you have a great 10th visit to Japan. 😄 Thank you for watching and subscribing too.
@@tokyokenchanlot's of walk and very hot but the wind was lovely. It was the day before the typhoon 😂
I plan to visit Kamakura at the end of December. Any recommendation places I should visit during that time?
Thanks! This has been very helpful. I just want to clarify, the bus that goes to Jomyoji, you said is Bus Stop #4 but when I Googled Jomyoji Temple, the Visit Kamakura Site says take the bus from 'no. 5 Terminal'. I'm not sure what Bus Stop #4 is. TIA
Hello. I'm not sure what the 5 means, but any bus from terminal no.4 at Kamakura station (east exit) goes to Jomyoji. Jomyoji is 6th stop from Kamakura station. The bus company website (only in Japanese). www.keikyu-bus.co.jp/line/root_stop/kamakura.html.
Ok, thanks!
Do you recommend a good hotel room with a private bathroom ? When I visit Japan next May I would like to also visit Kamakura for 2 days and see the great statue of Buddha. I remember watching a movie called “ Around the world in 80 days .(1956) and they showed this statue of Buddha and that’s why I would like to go and see the statue myself.
I like to take my time seeing and visiting new places,
Oh wow, thank you for introducing the interesting video. I was checking about it now and it seems there was a scene of Kamakura as you said. I think that would be a great idea to stay a night in Kamakura so you can spend more time there without rush. Kamakura doesn't have much choice of hotels, but I think Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura would be a great choice. It's right in front of Kamakura station to take buses and tram called Enoden.
Great. Thanks for the information.
Hello! I am planning to visit kamakura and yokohama during my trip to tokyo! Do you recommend going to both on a two-day trip or going separately? I want to have more time to explore, but I think using the free pass will be cheaper, so I am not sure 🧐
I personally think even just with Kamakura, it's difficult to see in a day. But if you don't have 2 days, it works to take a look at some temples quickly and drop by Yokohama on the way back to Tokyo, that works too. Both Kamakura and Yokohama needs a whole day, but depends on how much you like to see. :)
Hi Kensan , After visiting Enoshima Island , where and which station to take the romance car back to Tokyo ? Please advise . Thank You
Oh hi, long time no see. You can proceed to Odakyu's "Katase Enoshima" station about 5 min. walk from the bridge to Enoshima.goo.gl/maps/MwsAydvbXWH6XVaF8 You might want to check the time table of romance car as it runs only a few in the late afternoon to evening. Timetable (Find Katase Enoshima) : www.odakyu.jp/english/romancecar/timetable/
Hii Ken chan! May I know what time did u went back to shinjuku? Thank you!
Hi. I checked the photo data and it seem I arrived back to Shinjuku at 18:50. Thank you for watching. :)
@@tokyokenchan I enjoy your videos so much and thank you so much!
@@vousmemebelle3802 Thank you too!
I'm thinking about going to Kamakura from Hakone. Where should I stay for 2 nights in Kamakura for easy access to all the major sites?
The hotel in the best location is JR's Hotel Mets right in front of Kamakura station. Not many hotels in Kamakura, but Kamakura is not a large area so wherever you stay, you can get to the place easily.
@@tokyokenchan Can you help me with my itinerary for my travel during late February? I'm planning on flying into Tokyo, spending 2 nights in Hakone, then 2 nights in Kamakura, I have to figure out where to go for 5 nights before I head back to Tokyo to fly back home. This will be my 3rd trip to Japan and I've been to Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Kurashiki, and Nagoya. I love your videos, they are so helpful. Thanks for all your help.
