Awesome show, Thanks Robert and Johnny B. I noticed several years ago about the “deep groove” and “inner circle” ⭕️ on most of my ‘77 re-issues, especially the soundtracks and I thought it was the same thing you mentioned earlier about different pressings from the different pressing plants. That was my only conclusion so to hear it from you guys settles that. 😊
And, I’m not thrilled with what FTD is doing recently either and I’m more than likely not going to purchase the Gold “Moody Blue”. 😮

Regarding the prices on the FTD vinyl resales, there are some sellers who just put them out there to see if they get lucky on their high prices. With a few exceptions they just sit there with no takers. Someone who wants to sell puts it up at a reasonable price or allows it to go to auction. I've gotten some great deals on some of them but to do to my own impatience I've overpaid on others. I've got 4 more to go and I'm being patient so I won't be forced to sell my first born in order to get them. 😄

I missed the first one but going to pass on this as a 20% mark up and shipping it’s just too much. I agree with you Johnny B. More soundtracks!!
Robert and John: there are PLENTY of collectors who.miss the 1st FTD LP release of Moody Blue! We are very happy we can purchase the 2nd print. Just to give you a larger picture: I live in Bucharrst, Romania. There are a lot of ELVIS fans in Europe, as well.
I understand how you feel,I know there were many fans who missed the beginning of the ftd releases. Lets hope they do more releases from Elvis' catalog!!!!

I first went on line to do a 5 minute video just stating about the new Moody Blue Ftd title and was quite excited..this shows you how foolish I felt when I didn’t put two and two together to realise it was a reissue. Some dealers had taken out the re-issue part whether or not they felt embarrassed I don’t know..but I took it straight down because one.. for my impatience by not reading it correctly and two..because I would have never believed FTD would do this to us twice now with successive releases.On a personal level I think it sucks..I guess The Old Snowman would rubbing his hands with delight that the old practices are still alive and kicking in 2024..shame on you FTD

The trouble with subscription is most won’t hit that subscribe button for whatever reason I don’t know..probably some sort of phobia.
I know nearly 75% of my views are from non subscribers,shame as I can concur with Robert this all takes time,a lot of time.
Keep at it and something will give..the cream always rises to the top.

Fantastic show, guys! I have all of the FTD releases (including the books, book box sets and vinyl releases). I was lucky in that I started buying these when the label came into existence in 1999. Truth be told, I didn't appreciate the vinyls when they initially came out but I bought them anyway to keep the collection complete. I have grown to love them over the years -- you are so right about Roger's passion behind them. And, I share your sentiment about the upcoming Moody Blue release.
If they do go down the road of repressing the initial vinyl releases, I highly doubt they will include the glossy picture inner sleeves included with vinyl titles up through The Pot Luck Session. Roger ditched them because it was quite expensive. By eliminating them, he was able to keep the price reasonable for several more years.
Should you ever need a picture or video of an FTD release you don't have hand, please let me know. Happy to assist your show in any way. The show is both entertaining and informative -- so, folks, subscribe like I just did!

Hello Robert,love the show,I just started watching from the first episode,in regards to moody blue,i bought it when it came out before Elvis died and its on blue vinyl,it only has the one hype sticker that says contains the hits moody blue and way down just like the black label one you showed,I also have a sealed copy with both stickers on the cover,"the blue album"hype on the left side,take care!

I Buy FTD Vinyl. Don’t care for CDs. I’m old school. So 3 vinyls a year is 225 dollars no big deal.
Different Stampers from different plants. Both Rigid.
As someone who doesn’t want to pay $500 for a Moody Blue FTD original, I’m happy with the reissue. I hope they repress more of the rare ones. I’m with Mark.

I'm with Johnny B in regards to Moody Blue. I'll buy it, but I'm not happy about it.
The one positive with reissuing the FTD vinyl (ie. Moody Gold) is it's an opportunity for those who missed out on the originals to buy these at a somewhat reasonable price... where trying to buy the first issues of FTD vinyls costing $300, $400 or $500+
True. But the BIG question is...are there enough buyers (who missed these earlier pressings) to justify the production cost and sales, if some collectors may refuse to buy them? 🙂

What Johnny B said about not being pleased that FTD is doing this reissue but then admitting he will buy it is one reason why they are doing this release and will probably continue doing reissues. Another reason of course is they heard the requests from fans. I’m sure FTD has people that see what’s being said on line and what fans want. Watching channel like this one tells them that there is definitely a market for variations of the same Elvis albums. So why wouldn’t they take advantage of that market. They could be doing what some of the bootleggers do and release four versions of an album with four different colors of vinyl.
With the increase in interest in vinyl there are fans that want to buy these releases to listen to. Collectors are not being forced to buy it. It’s also not FTD responsibility to release something that is going to increase in value. I thought they were supposed to provide an alternative to bootlegs. Material from FTD releases is and has been bootlegged already. These reissues give fans a legitimate option to buy Elvis music where royalties are paid and profits go back to FTD.
It should be about the music first. I think Robert was coming from the position of a collector where the value of the cardboard, vinyl and sticker is most important and not the music. I get the collector side of things and I dabble in it a bit but I’m much more into the music and the listening experience that the FTD CDs and records have provided me. Why should I want to see people denied that opportunity or forced to pay ridiculous prices to get it.
Robert questioned why more people weren’t following this channel. Your videos have been informative but I think the number of people that are into collecting at the level you are or even the level I am may be smaller than we’d like to think. There are a lot of Elvis fans out there but most seem to be into just the music or learning details about his life. If I was new the collecting scene and I heard your remarks which sounded a bit snarky I might question if I want to get involved in something where you have long term collectors with the look what I got and too bad for you attitude. I was 5 years old when the Memphis to Vegas album with the coveted sticker came out so I missed out on it. Thankfully RCA continued to produce that album and I was still able to buy it and enjoy it. Same thing with the FTD vinyl. You’ll still have your first edition high value copy and the people either new to collecting Elvis or just wanting listening to it got their copy to. I kinda question the long term value of these FTD vinyls. There’s probably a 1000 copies of Standing Room Only sitting on people’s shelves still sealed all over the world. At some point in the next five to ten years they will start hitting the market in mass. Then what will they be worth?
Guys, do no.put down other fans/ collectors that have different standards than yours and you will have more subscribers, for sure! TCB!

Don't you think there good for the guys n girls who missed it 1st time round , A reissue is nothing new RCA did it from day one otherwise you guys would have nothing to talk about ,FTD is part of sony there just doing the same RCA did for years

I don't really want all the music from the soundtracks but I love when Roger changes the covers and makes them different from the originals!!
