Hi Robert! Once again: congrats on the show. It's great! To FUP on the topic of the labels that release again old EP material I want to say that not everyone in Europe can afford getting only US Sony releases. There are many great collections in Europe. Not to forget: the FTD label originated as a reaction to the huge interest of the fans to the bootleg labels, most of them originated in Europe. There are many bootleg labels that released content that will NEVER belong to Sony! TCB!
Great information as always Robert. As for the How Great Thou Art though I do love those session box sets. Love hearing the master at work. Best to you and Carol.
Thanks for another great show. Have to agree about the antique malls. I do search them for records, but rarely purchase anything. Seen $5 records posted for $60 plus.
Another wonderful episode! I could listen to you talk Elvis records all day, but it’s probably not best for my wallet as I always end up feeling the urge to go record hunting! The FTD thing does and doesn’t bother me. I’m glad they’re doing more pressings of the EP Blvd FTD as I missed the first run, but three pressings for the same release? Why not go back and give some of those older releases a new press. Sure, some collectors will be upset because the price on the originals might shift a little, but it’s about the music, not how rare it is or how much it’s worth on eBay. Unfortunately, I only have one FTD - Kid Galahad. I just can’t justify paying $65 for a record before shipping, no matter how much I love Elvis. On a somewhat related note, I thought you might find this interesting. I picked up a book about Elvis records released in the US from 1954-1977. The book was released in 1978, and the bookstore in which I found it was selling it for $4. It’s a treasure trove of knowledge, so I purchased it to aid in my collecting quest. Under the Speedway listing, it says no monaural pressing was ever released to the author’s knowledge. Of course, we now know that’s one of the most valuable Elvis records you could ever wish to find, but I thought it was kinda funny seeing a relic from that general time period make a note about the “non-existent” mono pressing. Can’t wait for the next episode!
Years ago I bought over 50 sealed Elvis Albums, ep's from Paul Licther and out of curiosity opened a few and they were scratched and worn and paid a hefty price
Enjoyed the show and agreed with a lot of what you said. FTD have lost the plot with this new release, which I’m not buying. When I complimented the manager at our local HMV store on their great Eli’s selection, he said “well Elvis always sells.”
He always sells better in other countries. It's very frustrating for fans in the U.S.. Johnny B usually tells off retailers whenever they tell him that. LOL!
Another outstanding episode, Robert! And a special thanks to you for acknowledging the important information that I brought to your attention on the Hollywood pressings, especially the Silver Top "Roustabout" albums. Always looking forward to the next episode! 😎
Great show as always! I am so glad to see you're doing well! I agree totally about FTD and their upcoming release, they really do have so many more albums they could put out. Unfortunately, I think others' milk money from Elvis items these days, some of the prices I see on things is just ridiculous. Just a little thought: I think a cool show would be one based around questions from your viewers (You can call it "I Can Help" or "Ask Me" 😉). You are such an amazing source of information, and I personally have learned so much from you on this show. Thank you again for a great video, as always I look forward to the next! ⚡️TCB⚡️
The very latest Legacy Aloha release is the same apart from one important difference, the REHEARSAL SHOW has been re mixed and does sound better than before, but Robert is correct when he says it IS VERY Expensive!
The other major difference is the RCA/Sony/Legacy version is remastered by Vic Anesini, whereas the FTD version was remastered by Jan E. Big difference!!! 😊
No on NIPPER !!! Keep it right where he is !!! 😅 I will say that the Sony/Legacy “Aloha from Hawaii” sounds and actually looks better than the FTD version. Thanks, in part, to the great Vic Anesini. 😊 As for the FTD “Sessions” releases, fans over at the FECC and EAP society are just nuts about having EVERYTHING on those disks. For me, it’s a case of how many times am I actually going to sit down and listen to it? It looks and from what I hear the sound is impeccable, but right now I think I’m good. Love your show Robert. Can’t wait for the next. 😊
So on The new Aloha From Hawaii Box Set you get The alternate Aloha Concert with a new Remix from Matt Ross Spang!!, and it is Great Sounding , The blu ray is better than The old DVD, so it is a Must have!!
Hey Robert do you think drop prices on the FTD Cds and the Album one day will keep put prices go up keep up cool video on elvis my friend look forword more cool things on elvis
That's a great question. Only time will tell where the FTD CD prices will be in the future. However, just like vinyl, they will probably go up and down depending on the title. Thanks for watching.
A lot of good points Robert. Ftd releasing that album in blue then black, etc. Ridiculous. I bought the Aloha Sony legacy instead of the ftd, less expensive. I've been to some antique shops or flea markets and yea some records are Ridiculous in price just because it's Elvis. I have found some nice cheap ones also. See you next time.
Thanks. There are exceptions to everything, including antique malls. I admit I've found treasures a few times myself, which is why I keep going to them. LOL.
Robert, I love the show. However, MRS, DOL all the other labels that are not SONY, are doin a FANTASTIC job. Many people, me included, love collecting them. Many times these releases are better, more exciting and cheaper than SONY LPs.
Yes, some of them (especially the DOL label) are indeed better and cheaper that the SONY LPs. But be that as it may, their releases (which are actually re-releases of oringinal material) are still basically redundant. Especially when they keep releasing the same titles over and over on different color vinyl. Glad you enjoy the show.
@@collectingtheking Thanks a lot for your reply! By the way, greetings from across the ocean: Bucharest, Romania. I get your point, but MRS , for example, is a fantastic label. I have all the releases on CD&LP. Many of the live concert LPs are not released by FTD. Many live concerts releases are not owned by SONY and will not be releases by FTD. As you may imagine, many live recordings arrived in NL, after 77, through Parker's connections in Europe. I will try to send you one, just to check it. The show is GREAT 👍. Keep them coming!
For example, the YT link above is a MRS release that does not belong to Sony and will never be released by FTD. The LV concert is absolutely FANTASTIC. TCB!
Great show. As someone who basically walked away from collecting over 25 years ago and only resuming within the past year, it really is a cash grab, all of it is. While it is annoying, ultimately it's the collectors decision whether or not to buy it. They're in it solely to make money so I can't fault them in the big picture. Years ago I got tired of the redundancy but now I'm right back into it LOL. The European public domain releases complicate the matter, I also see people selling "fantasy" and other unofficial record sleeves. Years from now a collector will really have to do homework as to what is an official product. In the early 70s Paul Lichter made sleeves for the early RCA release that didn't have picture sleeves and he was charging $8.00 a piece for them (an obscene amount back then) - now they are routinely sold with no indication of their bootleg status and are collectable themselves. Just like you're doing, we all have to learn to pick and choose what we really want. As FTD is rapidly reaching the end of available material it's only going to get worse. To me it's a miracle they've been able to stretch it out almost 50 years so far. Like you, I'd never criticize anyone for what they collect, all I know is I don't need a dozen version of King Creole because someone is sticking into an attractive new cover.
Great and informative stuff! Thanks Robert!! 👍🏻
Looking forward to another good video Robert
Thank you Robert for another wonderful and amazing episode! Totally enjoyed watching it my friend.
TCB ⚡️⚡️😎
You do such a great Job! Elvis would love it. Regards from Europe
Thank you! Cheers!
Another great show. Keep Nipper right there please!
Will do!
A great and versatile episode. Ling live Nipper ... even in ceramic.
Thanks, Loren. Actually, Nipper is plastic. :)

Great video as always Robert greetings from the Netherlands 👍

Thanks, Mark. I'm always looking forward to a show with Jonny B as well. He cracks me up. LOL.

@paulgwyn7836 The Sony/Legacy version. The FTD sounds a bit muddy and harsh. 😊

I have no idea who Matt Ross Spang is, but I respect your opinion. Thanks for the comment.

Amen, brother! Thanks for the comment.
Don’t let Jamie and John over at the EAP Society hear you say that !!! 😊
Robert, I checked all my Madison Square Garden and sure enough, AQL1-, and it’s translucent vinyl !!! Is this a rare ? It’s in gorgeous condition. 😊
I'm not really sure, Just found out about this recently. It requires some research, for sure.
May I ask a question? I heard the laughing version of are you lonesome tonight. Is there a dvd, CD or lp from? 🎉
Sadly the AFH blu ray is no improvement over the 2004 DVD set... :(
That's what I've heard from MANY fans.
Now since he's gone his wife is carrying on the tradition
Thanks!
That depends on whether or not the rumor I heard about the fate of his collection is true.
