I'm growing my scindapsus collection, but only the ones I love! I'm trying to focus on intentionally getting plants that I love and parting with plants I bought out of compulsion or because other UA-camr's own them.
I hear ya. I got fed up with all of my Calatheas. I’ve had them for a year and they don’t do well in my apartment unless I keep the humidity at least 60 to 70% and I can’t live like that. Every time I looked at them it made me feel bad for them so I put them all outside on my screen porch where they can soak up the humidity. (I live in Florida) I have to be sure to pull the outside curtains shut in the afternoon though because it faces west and they can’t take the sun. If they don’t do well out there they will be gone. Thanks for the video. 💚🌿🌱🪴💚
I've DEFINITELY been doing the same thing. We all went a little nuts during the height of covid (😅) and I was starting to feel like a lot of my plants were just making my space look cluttered. I like spaces that look like a jungle, but only when there is more intention behind the plants AND the design..so I gave away all of the plants that I didn't truly love or that didn't add anything to the space. I don't regret it AT ALL!❤
I just recently found your channel and have binge watching all of your videos. I really appreciate your content and love seeing your sweet doggie! I have been reworking and getting rid of many of my plants that I am no longer happy with. I used to have almost 80 (not much compared to many people) but now only have 26. I am enjoying having less and getting to see each individual plant for what it is. Thanks for another great video and being honest with us about what your doing with your plants.
I’m shocked, your Anthurium collection was so beautiful 💚 I remember when you picked up the mixed pot of Algo it is so pretty, but I know how over whelming plants can be an sometimes we just get tired of it all. It’s a lot of work. Would love to see an update collection video an can’t wait too see where you take us next with your channel.🥰 Just happy your back 💚
I’m not overwhelmed by my collection. It’s just the natural cycle of falling in and out of love with plants and buying plants that I probably only bought out of influence or impulse.
For me winter was harsh and thus the de cluttering went on organically. Some I was to repurchase but others were definitely just compulsive purchases as you said. I just can not give up on calathea. Some do so well. My Cora is Not doing well. It’s also a 2nd one. But it’s such a favorite. I’m also a inconsistent waterer so my plants are prone to spider mites. BTW- I would be interested in buying that mixed Aglaonema- I think one was legend right? I remember you talking about it in a few other videos & I always loved it. My chocolate is just fantastic. It is consistently putting out new growth. My 3 other types are doing well too but I bought them smaller. Anyway, good to have you back. I find your voice very soothing 😊 And I like your pragmatic view on your collection. I think I’m approaching a similar point.
I always feel less guilty about purging watching your videos. I am new to ferns because of you and did my first kokadama to an asparagus fern and I love it. I can’t wait until I get care correct 😝. I completely agree with you about the ficus. I have the exact same ficus with the inclusion of a Benjamina bonsai and they have not grown or are dropping leaves and I am over those. Have long ago accepted no calatheas or alocasias so I am on board with those decisions. I have slowed down on collecting and am now curating my collection and making them look artistic so I have gotten more into the Hoyas and vines now and plants that are sculptural. Plants on my chopping block are teardrop peperomia, birkin, neon pothos, red emerald and a hayii. I am looking for at least 1 caudex to add to the collection but again focusing on making my collection zen.
Don't feel guilty if it doesn't make you happy you have to part ways. I declutter all the time. Even stuff around the house. Clothes and all. Ohhh I like the idea of curating and making your collection look more artistic that is where I am headed. And having plants that don't stress me out and make me feel like a bad plant mom. I like your thought process.
Hello friend. I told myself that I have ro take care.of my current plants without any deaths before I can make any new purchases. Good to have you back. Many blessings. OneLove ❣
I've fallen out of love for tropicals, even earlier last year, since my approach and not fully knowing my apt space lead to a lot of my tropicals to die. But I'm really getting into succulents and bonsai/outdoor hardy plants, plus I just learned better propagation techniques, mostly succulents. Just off a rant here, but I do see that socials/tik toks mostly focus on tropicals and I rarely see succulents featured. Succulents are super resilient and they are cultivated in the Americas and are endemic to Mexico and even Texas, at least the ones that I'm into, including echeveria hybrids and graptopetalums. I do have a growing collection of them, but I'm still refining how I take care of them in colder seasons, cause New York weather can be crazy with frost and snow. But I have most/all my kalanchoes, euphorbias, echeverias, crassulas, and a rebutia (cactit) thriving and even pushing growth, AND I've had them outside since mid March!!! Long comment, sorry, but I do understand where you're coming from. I've had planter burnout, sometimes it just happens. Still, I make sure I am true to my aesthetics and not get what everyone is getting, boring anyway, not be so hard on myself, staying grounded and throwing away plants if they no longer bring you joy (or too weak to have in your care).
Love your honesty.. everything you said made sense. Lately I've been doing the same thing.. finding good homes for plants that didn't do well with my environment. Now I've been changing over to leca getting rid of dirt just totally simplifying things and making it easier. Definitely agree with your commentary.. looking forward to your next video!!
I thought about getting rid of the dirt but that would just be too much of an investment lol but it would be nice not to have to vacuum and sweep all the time lol
im the same, part with it and if u keep thinking about it later come back to it, its not a race to have them all, its your garden to enjoy. I also got rid of all my anthurium except some smooth ribbed types
Yeah my problem is that sometimes I obsess over a plant until I drive myself crazy so I just usually buy it to bypass that. I'm working on it lol We think alike. That is the only anthurium coming into my home.
@@RootingMindfully omg me to! i got rid of all my velvets buut i just caved and got another crystal and mag cause i loove those ones and those silver veins
You hurt me with the Ficus but I get it...lol. I really like the hoya publicalyx so I thought I would like the australis lisa but my interest in it has diminished. It is growing fine but just not one I pay attention to now.
oh man, I have decluttered so many plants lol, but then I replaced them with other random ones. Haha no good! But yeah I gave up on scindapsus, and aglaonemas for now. But yay hoyas, I am loving mine so far, even though they are super small. Can’t wait to see which ones you ordered.
Hahaha I feel like I ordered them all lol smh ohhh goodness. Yeah sometimes you have to take a break and revisit or just forget about them lol now that I think about it I might not ever go back to alocasia or aralia lol
It's do good to see you back! 🤗 Those agleonmas are beautiful! I would love to take them off your hands! They're bigger than any I've seen. Will you really sell/ship them or give to fam/friends? Dee, long Island, ny
Great video I understand the process on a no buy if I get the urge I'll buy and give to family or a freind helps my addiction to some degree thats like once month working towards to buying 0 anything for awhile.
lol.... she's on the purge or many died !! Understandable. I purged not long ago or died also .. and not buying. Girlfriend, I'm so over indoor plants ! Was a good learning hobby but they don't do well.
@@RootingMindfully yes I'm done and will keep maybe 5 of them. Not buying anymore and will move most outside for summer and will not come back in. I never liked indoors plants but covid may me experiment and my original thoughts are confirmed... too much work, got thrips, and plants don't live despite grow lights.

Decluttering as we speak! I am moving in a couple of months, so no time like the present! :)

I had too many agleonema aswell....I potted them all together in the same pot.....less pots and they look pretty and lush together :)
Alocasia were to much work for me. Aglaonema’s are my favorite. Very easy to care for. I have purged so many of my plants.
Really? I bet you feel better after the purge lol

That’s a good principle to go by. Prevents excess spending.

I would prefer to sell them locally so that I don’t have to ship them. I wish I had plant friends to give them too. 🥲

Ohhh that takes a lot of will power. It is easy for me to do that in the winter but as soon as spring rolls around I have a problem lol
I looooove aglaonemas! How will you be selling your plants?? Locally? Etsy??
Definitely locally. I will be using Mercari
