They work as intended, but IMO there is a massive amount of competition for this style of red dot at this price point. As long as you dont mind the girth, or the tint. Then these might be what your looking for. If your looking for something with a bit more polish on it, then there are plenty of other options out there.

This is my # 1 optic reviewer. Great work!
Him, brass facts, and Hop
@CH1775 If you did a bit more searching that list would be longer.
There's a bunch of excellent channels. Definitely wouldn't put this guy at number 1.
@OspreyBravo18 just based on who I've seen so far.
Much obliged
I appreciate a company that takes criticism well. I will support them because of that. Great RePew!
Love all of their products I got. Mostly their prisms lol
The comparison at 16:34 is really bananas. The SLX 1x Micro prism is only $70 more than the ACSS version of the MD-25 red dot. Yet just looks worlds better. That’s an important 70 bucks.
The etched reticle itself is worth the $70.
Micro slx cant be magnified good
First time watching a review of yours and I am very impressed. No rambling, great audio, prompt, informative and honest. Instant subscriber here.
Much obliged mate. Pew Pew!
I love this channel. It's amazing to me how rare this style of optic review is it should be way more common. Props to PA for sending their products to a no BS reviewer. That shows company integrity and belief in their product
💪 pew pew
Keep up the good work. If I plan on buying an optic, I always make sure to watch your review. 😁
This is perfect I have a couple budget builds I need to top and was back a forth between these. Awesome.
Subscribed for the "pew" sounds. THIS is the review I needed, thank you!
C-does, thanks for the review as always. I believe you are the best optic reviewers on youtube. You talk about the optics while showing us how it feels to see through the optics. Not many people do that as good as you.
Thank you very much
There are channels that not only show the view, but they show what it's actually like shooting through the optic. Illustrating how easy or difficult the optic makes it to get hits or hits or how fast it allows them to go.
This guy has decent reviews, but I am not finding myself go, "wow these reviews are so much more detailed than the reviews I was already watching." Instead I just stick the video on 1.75x-2x and I see if the views line up with other reviews.
Kudos to primary arms for allowing their products to have honest reviews
I hope they will continue to send you more
Another great review thanks
Having completed a little research on this optic I think you nailed it.
I got both of these a few months ago. The ACSS CQB works best for my setup, especially with a 3x magnifier. I didn't care for the 2MOA dot with the magnifier but I will still use it for another build. As for the body size, I don't notice when shooting both eyes open.
Good vid!
Love the pew pew… cracks me up every time. 👍🏻
Thanks for the review! I have two of the gen 1 versions. As you conclude they are a decent optic for the price especially if you get them on sale. However the control on the left to turn it on/off is way too stiff on my two and I end up unscrewing the battery cover while trying to adjust the dot brightness. It also does have very large turrets that you never stop noticing even shooting both eyes open. It has a better dot than the sig MSR but the MSR body seems to almost disappear when shooting, this one does not (but the MSR looks like a check mark when magnified). I’ve never had one break or fail to function. I don’t notice the tinting too much in my uses but it’s not on my first or second tier rifles so it doesn’t get to see all of the environments. Overall I consider this a decent budget red dot but as you say there are other options out there.
I really want to like the MSR, but i just can't make it work. Even unmagnified the dot is just a blob, and the rheostat is extremely stiff, even after a lot of twisting.
Love this optic. Can't beat the ACSS reticle. I don't mind the tint. Thanks for the review C. Pew pew
Another great video . Keeping it 💯
I've had this optic for a year and never noticed the blue tint until now lol. It's pretty subtle on mine. I think a big plus with choosing this optic is all the mounting plate options. The reason I chose this originally was to have a low mount for my AK. It's been great for me, but it would suck to get one with the tint the ACSS one had in this video.
So which one do u have? Single dot or the acss reticle? Which would u reccommend? Im also gonna put it on one of my ak builds
I hope you'll review the to-be-released GLX version of this when it drops this summer (2024). I came here to check out the previous version. Thanks for the great work!
C always the best optic reviews, may I suggest adding a durability section in your reviews
Useful durability testing is nearly impossible without controlled testing on a large sample size. Durability testing a single, or even a handful, of samples is nearly worthless. That said, the closest thing we have to scientific optic durability testing on YT is done by Aaron Cowan @sagedynamics
Focus Tripp does everything C does, and he does durability testing.
@@HotelBravo556 Not entirely true. Drop testing lets you determine if an optic can hold 0 after a sharp impact. This is important. Something as simple as the rifle falling over an smacking the optic, or getting knocked off a truck bed is pretty easily set up as a test. The most difficult variable to control is the weight of the weapon.
It should also be noted that optics that don't do well with shock are usually going to die on certain rifles. Part of why I prefer channels like Focus Tripp to C or even SupersetCA, is that Jon talks about the fact that some optics will die on guns like an LR308 or a SCAR.
Exited to watch this video after church. Thanks for the video brother!
Just keep going. I can't wait until they send you the new GLX 34mm 3-18. Compare that with the Athlon BTR Gen2. 😁
Your optic videos are the best
C - as always, great work. I’ve got a LPVO recommendation for you - the Hawke 1-4x20 Turkey Dot. 1 inch tube; 11.7 oz; good 1x; the FOV is actually a bit bigger than that of the current 30mm Trijicon 1-4s though the 1x isn’t quite at “flat”; meant for shotguns but whatever. The only real bad thing I’m seeing so far is the illumination - it’s worthless. Other than that, I’m digging it. On sale right now at Midway for 175. Optically, might be better than my old Nikon 1-4x20 Monarch. I think there’s a market for legit lightweight LPVOs that’s basically being ignored…and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more companies make scopes like it. You might want to check it out.
“…and only one Off, which is not a big deal.” Only to the extent that it’s 2023 and I can’t imagine anyone engineering a variable brightness optic and NOT putting an Off between every number. It’s a pain to have to turn on and dial up to, say, 6 and there’s the very real possibility of leaving it on and killing the battery. Oh, 2009 just called and wants their selector dial back.
11 illumination settings and it automatically shuts off after a few minutes motionless. Running the battery down isn’t an issue. You really want an off between 11 illumination settings?
Yeah so now everyone has to fight through 22 different settings and deal with the dot turning on and off whenever you want to adjust the brightness. No thanks, sounds like a terrible idea.
Thankfully they have people who know what they're doing designing their optics. And not some random on UA-cam with terrible ideas.
Ok…the pew pew sound effects were awesome!
I love my Gen 1 my only issue was that it didn't have shake awake and now that it does I have 0 cons for it.
Primary arms is goated. I really wish they would make a wide fov prism like the sig bravo 4 or the acog
Micro slx are mini acogs
Same honestly. I think I might buy an ACOG as my first real Magnified Optic, the light weight is worth it IMO.
@@MrRyushinn yeah but they have a narrow fov in comparison. I want something with a huge fov
If you want a prism with huge field of view look at the Swampfox Trihawk and Immersive Optics although Immersive got bought by Element.
I just got their MD-20, its pretty nice, although the dot could be crisper
Pew pew....pewpewpew...awsome job & a great review.
Love mine works well under NODs IMO. I have the ACSS. Not perfect but good for the price.
ty
dang man that comparison between the 403b and the md25 is pretty drastic. i have the 403b and its a pretty good rds, but i didnt realize how good it looks! I came into this video kinda wondering why anyone would want the md-25(2moa version) and this video confirmed it. the 1x MP is way better IMO< though about 2x the price.. but if you want that acss reticle, getting the etched micro prism is the way to go. for a 2moa red dot, just grab a HS403b! now if PA put the HS 403b style buttons on the micro prisms, that would be a huge upgrade!
They do make a direct competitor to the holosun 403 line. I think they call it the "classic" line or md-20? To me, the attractive point of this md25, is that acss reticle. "For the money" you'd have a very tough time doing better. Plus, primary arms is doing great things for the 2a community and innovation of products in general. Their warranty alone can be a decision maker for customers.
I got the acss one a while back just prior to them announcing the shake awake 🙄.
But it's an awesome dot. Put a 3x mag behind it and honestly, i like it better than my 1-6 lpvo (which i bought just before they released images their new slx 1-6 lpvo reticle)😅 and would have got that over what I got cause the chevron is awesome.
Blue tint is there for sure, but for the price if you're looking for a dot that you'll magnify and want to shoot out a bit, I have no complaints.
I have a slight minor astigmatism, but using it for closer distances the dounut of death works great for quick shots.
The sig romeo 5s is a good inexpensive dot and the holosuns are amazing also.
They sell the battery cap that enables the shake awake feature separately on their site. I believe it's called "autolive". So you should be able to add that feature onto your current red dot.
Fingers crossed for the new 6x magnifier. I've been holding off buying one until I see what it looks like here.
MGT for life.
Hopefully PA sent you the new Glx 3-18 for review.
great content awesome review: Now there is an optic I could get behind, preferably the acss version. as low of a priced as they are, to tell ya the truth being a poor, I still cannot afford either one.
Thanks for the review. I love my holosun with the acss reticle. Was looking to get the md25 as a cheaper option for some of my other guns but after seeing this review I think I’ll stick with the holosun. You get what you pay for.
Exactly!
They make the dots for PA
@@sunnycat69 yes I know. I bought it off primary arms website, the holosun acss and md25 are 2 different optics at 2 different price points.
Hey C. You think you will do a review of the swampfox blade 1x25mm prism? Ive seen a few reviews for it but honestly i like your style of reviews more then every one elses.
Picked one of these up during PA’s summer sale after watching this review. $100 with free shipping. At that price I’m struggling to find any realistic competitor of this quality outside of the Romeo5, and even the Romeo5 seems to have been staying around $130 for the last 6 months or so.
I really wish PA would go to buttons for brightness settings, like Holosun uses on their even cheaper red dots like the 403b series. it would save even more weight and alleviate some of the issues with their turn dials. and you wouldnt have the dial obscuring the view around the optic
I find the rotors easier to manipulate quickly than poking at buttons. Grip and rip! Buttons take more dexterity and focus for high stress situations.
@@xDEA4xFPSfair, guess it just depends on the individual. i usually set it and just run it at that power lever most of the day, so i dont find my self fighting around with the buttons often enough to make it annoying but i do appreciate not having the large rheostat dial interfering with my sight picture every shot..
@@mtnbound2764 lucky for me, I am left eyed. So it's not there for me. I can understand your struggle tho.
Seems like the SIG Romeo 5 would be the red dot that the Primary Arms MD25 was designed to take on. At $114 on Amazon, the Romeo 5 is still the champ of budget red dots IMO. I prefer the Romeo 5 because of the button controls instead of the dial on the MD25 and the mount on the Romeo5 is more substantial. The MD25 mount seems like it would snap off if you dropped the rifle on the red dot OR If the red dot hit a something such as getting in/out of a vehicle.
Isn't the Holosun 403B a 20mm tube while the MD-25 is 25mm? I like the extra size of the MD-25 and think it's a great option on a 9mm sub gun.
How does the Cyclops reticle on the SLX work as far as holdover points with the Ruger PC, do you know the range to holdover points?
I'm either gonna pick the md-25 or the md-20 for the optic I put on my first AR. Opinions?
"It's free but" followed by the It's what works for you, nevertheless I like the videos and being transparent
Would you consider doing a review on the Ultra Shot products?
I wanted one but that glass tint
My Romeo 5's still rock.
Best value I've got like five of them . But I do like the acss reticle.
Swing and a miss by Primary Arms with these. Thanks for your always honest reviews. I too love my 1X, 2X, and 3X Primary Arms prism scopes, especially the SLx 1X and the GLx 2X.
This already existed, the new change was that they added autolive. They already took their swing quite some time ago.
@@Osprey1994 Already known and even referenced in this video as well, but thanks anyway.
The difference between the low end HoloSun with amazing clarity and this blue not-sharp monstrosity is what struck me the most, even though they were obviously filmed during two different seasons.
how does this md-25 compare to the newer Primary Arms RD-25 optic? any input?
Decent red dot. Main selling point for me was battery being on left side. As a lefty it’s annoying af changing batteries on offset dots, this fixes that for me.
How does it do paired with the glx 6x magnifier?
awesome content and review: you know, since you have all those optics given to you. I would be more than honored if you could throw one, just one, decent optic my way, like maybe any 1-6x lpvo, a decent magnifier, possibly even one of those Primary Arms optics with the acss reticle. I ask because I am a broke poor bum, and I couldn't afford any one of those optics on any given day good or bad. I had to ask!
PA wants to please their customers and make improvements that are needed. Good on them!
The Gen 3 needs a wider connection to the mount also. The skinny single piece below the body of the dot seems like it'd be a breaking point.
Another fantastic review, but now I’m really curios. Which red dot or Prism that you tested is the current standard to beat?
Towards the end of the video he commented on how much he adores the PA slx 1x microprism.
@@rustwins4442 Other than the somewhat protruding battery compartment and the slightly coarse 1 MOA adjustments (which aren’t as big a deal on a 1x optic anyway), the SLX 1x Cyclops Gen II seems super squared away.
I hear the SLX 1x MP is very decent for passive aiming under NODs.
😂😂😂 love the pew pew 😂😂
Pew pew!
I have 3 G1 MD25s (2 ACSS, 1 Microdot). All 3 have no where near the amount of blue tint the G2 ACSS does.
I tried using a prismen optic with a magnifier behind and it did not work, but in front of the prism 😂
Do these have etched reticles??
Company’s should send you products I haven’t bought anything in the last two years. I haven’t seen you review.!
We all know the real reason for the delay was because you were focused on keeping the "C_DOES Home for deprived and wayward Cats" in tip-top shape!
🤣😂🤣
This PA RDS is a miss for me. I’m a pa fanboy but this optic with this obnoxiously large turrets just doesn’t work out for me. Keep up the good work sir!!
your doing R&D for them so they can improve the gen2,3,4 model
The tint is result of the tilted front lens. Damn
Why would you buy the strike fire for clones when primary arms makes the same thing for 120$
the longer i watch the video the worse that blue tint gets!
Blue as fuck
I like primary arms but I don’t see any benefits to this over holosuns micro dots. They are lighter and don’t have those giant ugly turrets sticking out.
More durable.
@@N238E evidence of that? Considering both are Chinese aluminum optics I doubt one has a significant durability increase over the other. Also those turrets sticking so far off the body with nothing to protect them from impacts is absolutely an inferior design and likely less durable.
The etched reticle on the SLX is worth the extra money. I personally won't buy an optic that doesn't have one.
Foe some they would be happy with this 🤷♂️
Live Action Role Pewing
Just bought one, without the shake to wake.....😐
Great optic for M-4gery. AK will kill it with heat.
Have one on Federal Patrol Rifle. Works great.
Galil ACE, did not last long. Maybe 500-600 rounds.
It's green.
I hate the blue tint. Holosuns has too much blue too.
Great review like always but that optic is trash, there is better optics out there for the same price or even lower.
I don't like the green look on the right side in it 😢
I think it is important for reviewers regardless if they get them for free or not, to be honest. If not when people get their stuff they then will complain and just return it. In the end the company loses money, as they then have an open box item to sell.
The red dot has 50k hrs batt life and the acss has 20k hrs batt life
meh. easy pass here. The PA Classic 25mm with 3MOA dot seems like a better option that wont cover up your view a ridiculous amount and it's cheaper at $129 right now.
Oof. That tint is (to use a technical term) AIDS.
Honestly, these aren't worth reviewing. Nothing unique about them, and once again, the glass tint is just as bad as the last gen.
Pew Pew Pew 🤘😎 new sub here
So they changed the price from 140 to 204 in 8 days?
