    My grandfather had enough sense many decades ago to put a huge antenna on top of the roof. It's a rotary model. I'd be lost without it.

    i disagree with the way it's hooked up, conect mohu directly to the tv ,not through the satellite receiver

  • @williamrtorres1182
    @williamrtorres1182 3 роки тому +3

    Try this out take a flat screen TV hook it up with the mohu antenna do not hook it up with the Dish Network it will not work direct to the TV and the antenna outside you should get some channels

    I wish I could use something like this. Even with an attic mounted 150 mile antenna I can’t get any stations in hilly Tennessee where the nearest station is 40 miles away.

    • @mneff69
      @mneff69 5 років тому

      I feel for ya I live in a small town in MO. The closet town with stations is 120 miles. No digital antenna will reach.
      We got a rotator with a analog antenna that could pick up channels back in the day before the switch to digital.

  • @Rondewie
    @Rondewie 5 років тому +2

    How frustrating for you! I'm sorry you had to go through all that and it didn't work.
    We have an antenna like your outside one but we have it in our attic. It does have the rotary . It works great!
    We got rid of dish a couple years ago. We have Roku, Netflix, and Hulu.
    Thank you for saving us from this antenna!

    At least you have a coax connection site on the back of your new TV. My smart vizio has No coax option . I would have to purchase a converter box first HDMI to coax ! 😮

      There are antennas that work. Like the old one I have outside. If there are TV stations somewhere near you. The closest to me are 60 miles. Philadelphia and New York. I watch most of the time on the antenna. :)

    Lol Rick, great video. I'm still using my homemade antenna. I made years ago, out of a junk 2x4, nails, and metal clothes hanger, wire and coax cable. Wonder if the shopping Channel would sell them for me, It seams to work hell alot better then that new one lol. You ever built youre own ?. Or have a link to a really good antenna?

    Just got these from HSN today, haven’t plugged it in yet but after viewing your vid I’m not optimistic on these. Will set up in morning and see what I get. I’m 20 miles from NYC so still holding out some hope I can cut the cord on cable.

    • @mediagiant7045

    • @ear3d
      @ear3d 5 років тому +2

      Just finished setting up and scanning. Get 13 channels, 5 of them crystal clear beautiful 1080p Spanish channels :( 3 clear locals, unfortunately not enough locals to cut the cord. Try to move other spots and see. My opinion of this Mohu beam though is I have tried the cheaper flat antennas and get the same amount of channels, this one no better than the cheap ones.

  • @rickb8808

    I was hoping it would work. We are so rural & in the mountains Dish doesn't work. Direct TV works poorly but if a cloud comes over it loses signal. We are stuck with a small local company that carries no name channels pretty much and is expensive. They also provide internet and phone. Would love to find something like this that would work. I see that antenna has poor ratings on Amazon.

    • @mediagiant7045
      @mediagiant7045  5 років тому +1

      I wanted it to work too. It might work for some people. The older antenna has always worked good for me. There is a link to a lot of them in the video description below the video.

    hey rick! Just wanted to say sorry you couldn't figure out your problems there with mohu. But my guess is I don't think two antennas were meant to be set up. You need to only go through one source like connecting the antenna as a separate unit so you can get those channels like you tried with the other. I know of a video on you tube that has self-help guide to show you how to connect the antenna directly to your tv. There is one channel on here called disable my cable I think. This is something that the fella goes thru to show you how to setup the antenna properly and what ideas he can give you in order to connect your antenna to the tv and to be able to get those channels for free. So hope this helps! If you want too also there some good deals on antennas if you want try Walmart or The Source (formerly Radio Shack) or maybe Best Buy might have them. So good luck on your hunt hope this helps! smiles...!

I have the highest tier @ $75 plus HBO for an extra $5. I was paying $250 for Comcast, now $174. I also bought my own modem and router to save on rental fees. Get all local channels plus 125 more.

    watching you not knowing how to use your own TV was .... painful. In your/our defense, it took me a little bit to figure out how to get my Samsung TV to recognize the antenna too, but man... if you were going to compare the Mohu to your original antenna, you should of put the Mohu up on the roof. Indoors, you lose a ton of signal.
