First time I've seen this video and remember the time he managed Palace and Mullery in my opinion never received the credit he deserved as the club was in administration the playing staff had being cut to a minimum and with a seriously long injury list not surprisingly deep in a relegation battle only avoiding the drop to Div 3 due with a last game of the season victory over Burnley, so Alan Mullery has my gratitude and admiration for navigating Palace through that season and a serious crisis in the clubs history.

What i find a annoying is that Brighton aren’t even our proper rivals charlton and millwall are they just cling on to us because they are a bunch of inbreds from the middle of nowhere with no other teams close to them

This is truth and hates Palace. They boycotted him when he went to Manage em. Look up his 80's interview about it. More telling
It's understandable for TV hosts to interrupt a guest so they stay on track with what they're saying and so time doesn't run out for the segment, but Humphreys needs to find a way to interject or steer conversation more politely. The way he kept cutting Alan off here is so rude.

@@jimtuite3451 It was ironic that it kicked off from the cup replays given there were no previous problems in league games and sadly these days clubs put their reserves out for many cup games!
@@bigtwit799 Well prior to the Venables/Mullery era, both Clubs were unsucessful lower-division sides. Palace had one freak season in the top flight a few years earlier but prior to that they were on a par with Brentford and Orient as an also-ran in London.... and Brighton weren't even that?
It's a funny, contrived sort-of rivalry but both sets of fans enjoy it and, as they create no interest from any of their other neighbours, good luck to them
@@jimtuite3451 I support Brighton but have to say from my memory Palace were usually in the top 2 divisions and I will double check but Palace had more than one season in the top flight late 60s early 70s.
