Not a Newcastle fan and this is the first time hearing him speak. I like this guy a lot, he talks really well. I love the fact that he mentioned the negativity from the fans is because we expect better and it is up for the players to show that on the pitch. That's all we want.

I have to say, when I see him talk in this press conference its hard not to admire him. He speaks so well, of course he says a lot of the press friendly things you'd expect, but he puts his own feelings in there and you can tell. He's strong willed and intelligent, and I think he's gonna go very far indeed. He needs to play, absolutely.

Wow Gordon is such a breath of fresh air compared to everything else I've heard from that England camp. He seems fully switched on and he's putting the rest of them to shame

Gordon is an example of how and what a footballer should be. Articulate, humble, professional and hungry for club and country! He’s worked hard and deserves a a spot in this England team! If he isn’t the starting XI tomorrow, I’m actually going to be MAD!
Not much to criticise about that interview. He seems to have a great mindset and he’s a very good footballer, hopefully he takes his opportunity when it comes along.
With Gordon doing a press conference can we assume Gareth has came to his senses and is starting him. Really hope Gordon starts on Sunday he deserves it with his performances for the toon last season

Newcastle fan here - not bias right now just explaining what I see every week when he plays for toon - Gordon is an absolute nuisance for defence, he can come short and link play, he takes people on, or just says “f*ck you and knocks the ball past them because he knows he can beat them in a race (if the ball hadn’t gone out in the slovenia game he would have achieved this within 30 seconds of being on), he crosses the ball really well (perfect for Kane), he plays line splitting passes nearly every game (see the beauty in the last England game) AND as most of you are aware he’s a little sh*t bag in the box and gets his team penalties very often. He’s not world class (yet) but I’m telling you - he does all of these things so well and so often in a match. The only 2 negatives to him at the moment is he isn’t as complete in his goal scoring and he also tired out around 60/70 mark. But we have plenty of goal scorers and plenty of attacking subs. JUST BLOODY PLAY HIM!!!

get him on the pitch you change players for various reasons in the premier league ,the same thing should happen for the world cup because if we get anywhere you cant expect same team to play and same people sit on the bench,, by changing it made all the difference ,but by putting Anthony on , he brought freshness and exitement just before the game stopped what a shame it he wasnt on longer.

How is this guy not one of the first on the teamsheet. Intelligent, positive, skilful, fast. He's got the lot. I want him to start but knowing Southgate there's no chance of that but at least give him.some serious minutes.

This formation is strong defensively, good midfield, width and pace, danger up front.
I do think that wing backs is a good call. The back three are good enough and it solves our left back problem a bit. I think Watkins needs to lean right a bit rather than centre cos Trent is less attacking and we’ll need overlap options

Gordon says he's very direct and not a safety first player, so there's no chance of Southgate starting him.
Best mentality in the England squad- refreshing to hear a player not subtly moaning about (fully warranted) criticism.
Speaks far better than our captain and manager. Kane and Southgate’s interviews (I.e. supposed main leadership figures in the camp) have been embarrassing. Both of them have appeared weak and demonstrate a really worrying mentality. Could be why they have never won anything for England.

Palmer is fantastic but the gap on the left is far more glaring than the right- I think that’s the only reasons for a greater clamour for Gordon then palmer. For me they both need to start
