Super helpful tutorial, I've been having trouble with subs. I'm basically going to do this, except I'm going to use rams rather than more conventional weapons.
Glad ypu liked it and good luck with rams! For that you can try and make combat altitude float near the surface if you have trouble making it hit the target. :)
What do you mean? Rams are very conventional! In real life, before all the guns and missiles, rams were still on ships!

Id like to think im pretty good at subs now. This tutorial would have stopped a lot lf growing pains, thats for sure.
I would reccomend an update about drag, especially on stability for some smaller subs. Your video build looked reasonably tapered, but i can see some people losing speed or just being tragically slow with a blunt front.
I can't get the Ai pids to show up in the vehicle ai customisation menu. The enable buttons aren't there
they should be on by default nowdays, the blocks are not needed to be placed as it is now integrated
is there anyway make a sub without the lead? Also do jet engine work for a sub?
Surely, heavy armour is also as heavy, you can just have metal in bottom and alloy on top, or just use propeller stabilization
This has some good points but as a tutorial it is very hard to follow because you never show any of your building, or even talk about dimensions of your build. It would be nice if you at least mentioned "this build is x by y blocks or something. I had to give up on this part way through because hull shapes and sizes are very important in this game and I just could not match yours at every point in the video.
You can build a submarine in any size and most shapes, slow speed crafts are not so picky in these measures. However all my instant tutorial are designed not not be longer than necessary, this means that basic tips available in previous videos maybe have need skipped, see the instant tutorials as a series
You may want to look at the 2 recent hull shaping andd designing tutorials as well
Didn't follow the design exactly as you did, and my submarine cannot stay at a certain depth. It can turn on its own. Also cannot track at all, and I've done as both the tutorials and the game suggests with bearings, Tange and Speed. It does nothing.
ok i only have one question as ive not gotten far into the campaign, but do the AI opponents use subs themselves or is that not a thing

Very nice tutorial. I did everything accodingly but sadly my sub still doesnt work. Everytime I command it somewhere it starts by plunging out of the water and then bugs around at the surface aimlessly... No matter how hard I try. I cant get Subs to work.
Maybe do I have to change something in order for the pumps to work? It seems like the PID´s dont use the pumps inside at all
Perhaps your move command is set at a specific altitude by mistake?
But if your pumps aren't used there is an issue with the settings for controlling them

The general PIDs are there nowdays, and some pids are now built into the system ai itself automatically
