    These seems like an important tool/jig for the Tormek. Why wouldn’t they include this in the most basic package? This seems cruicial.

      It is included with the T-8. It's only for the smaller model T-4 that you have to buy it separately.

    What does pushing it down before locking it do?

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  2 роки тому +3

      Hej TheTranq, as I understand you right, we press on the Universal Support above the Micro Adjust to be sure that the Universalsupport is totally aligned to the stone, due the tolerance we need that the Universalsupport ist movable and therfore there is the risc that the Universalsupport is'nt parallel priror to locking it at the sleeves.

    I have found that one mark is way too much. I dont know how you get half a turn out of it. I did the one mark to nake sure i made a neater finish and it ruined my stone. I had to go over it three or four times only moving a quarter of a mark at a time.

      Yup, you just have to be a bit more careful. Check out this sharpening class where we talk in depth on truing your grindstone: ua-cam.com/video/_9izVW7g6uo/v-deo.html. Stay sharp!

    HA look how that dressing stone lifts when it engages the wheel! Thats not truing anything with tolerances like that!

    • @TormekSharpening
      @TormekSharpening  3 роки тому +2

      Hiya! Actually it is designed to have that tolerance so that you don't take too much out of your stone.☺ If you for any reason want to take more material out of your stone, go several passes and lower the Universal Support just a smidgeon by each pass, as the video says, and you will get a perfectly true stone. Stay sharp! 😃

      @@TormekSharpening Dude if the support for the dressing stone is deflecting under load its not dressing anything. Thats probably contributing to your terrible surface finish on your stone, and the need for those honing blocks...

    No bushings in the shaft the moves the diamond, the feed is a cheap screw, not even stainless. It looks cheap, and such it is. Why would Swedish company Tormek cheat us with such crappy tools? Do you think users a stupid, they can't differentiate a true precision ACME thread screw from cheap one?

      I wouldn't spend so much money on something I need to improve out of the box, the Sorby ProEdge is much more better with true flat edges and no crappy svd-110 aluminum tool rest tables without slot to keep the happening at 90degree angle to the wheel. Is this svd-110 suppose to be a joke?
