    Warsworn: "Polished armor just means you haven't used it yet."
    Also Warsworn: "You better not have a stain or scratch on your armor."
    These two lines make me feel like it is required to just look pretty and never go into a fight.

    • @Tengila
      @Tengila 5 років тому +71

      Those comments actually come from Warsworn of two different keeps, whose leaders have quite different leadership styles. The one where the second line comes from is led by a guy who firmly believes that as mercenaries, they must look good, clean and shiny to their clients in order to get more and better jobs. It's a PR tactic. But the guy is also kind of a simple-minded, pretentious prick, so there's that.

    • @TheWitchfinderGenral

      Polished armour is important because otherwise it goes rusty, seizes up, and is weaker.

    • @Foxxie0kun
      @Foxxie0kun 3 роки тому +20

      Honestly, both are possible. Polished usually means decorative or brand new, untested in battle. Even after being damaged and covered in blood, armor can be cleaned and repaired, but will never retain a mirror sheen or pristine appearance, since scratches and dents need to be smoothed and hammered out to retain function.
      Properly battle-tested armor can still look clean and strong, but it won't ever be acceptable as parade gear.
      I do like that other commenters have pointed out the disparate leadership styles in the two different Warsworn Keeps, and that does make sense. The "Public Facing" appearance of the Warsworn needs to be strong, clean, and unassailable for the good of their clients. Proper presentation can mean the difference between gaining or losing a lucrative contract. On the other hand, you would never send a rookie in parade gear to try and actually fight in real combat.

    The Minute Men are the most morally sound guild in Fallout 4, except they're constantly sending me to help settlements and that is a sin in and of itself.

    • @chaddickhaut140
      @chaddickhaut140 6 років тому +68

      The only winning move is to never rescue them. You can still help settlements as you encounter them, and you don't have to put up with Preston constantly nagging you. 😎

      @romnickrosario6048 6 років тому +54

      Funny enough the minute men is the only faction where you’re the leader. Too bad the game doesn’t express that well enough and just makes you a glorified gopher. always single handily save each and every settlement instead of sending underlings or something

    • @lostbutfreesoul
      @lostbutfreesoul 6 років тому +46

      I am more then annoyed that the Settlements you improve still can't help themselves....
      Seriously; you have high tech gattling laser and missile towers, why are you calling me back to deal with some feral ghouls?!

    • @lostbutfreesoul
      @lostbutfreesoul 6 років тому +43

      @@romnickrosario6048 ,
      There really needs to be a 'Play a General' mod for the minuteman.
      One where you can assign small squads of soldiers to patrol settlements and respond to these threats on your behalf, all for a cost in resources over time. As you gain more Settlements you get more resources over time, which you can then spend on upgrading or increasing the number of your squads. In patrolling an area you decrease the likelihood of nearby settlements being raided in the first place, and a few well placed over lapping patrols might even reduce this to zero.
      You know, so it feels like you are controlling territory and not just running from settlement to settlement!

    • @RuiRuichi
      @RuiRuichi 8 років тому +8

      The Brotherhood of Steel isn't by choice, it's either you join or you get kicked out to the wasteland, it's an illusion of choice. People aren't even forced to join the Witchers, it's voluntary which is why it's a dying profession as there is a lack of interest in it as there are no more witchers being made and it's even widely known to recruits it's a risky process with a 30% chance of survival. Geralt can stop Alvin by discouraging him to be a witcher, Leo joined because he was an orphan with nothing to do in life, Berengar left voluntarily without any persecution.

      As someone who is currently playing it through for the first time (tried it years ago, but didn't really get into it, and now I finally have) I can say this:
      The good:
      - Great classless system in which you can mix abilities from Might, Finesse and Sorcery however you see fit, so you can be a pure warrior, a battlemage, a shadowy mage, a blademaster or mix all of them and be a jack of all trades. And you can reset your point distribution at certain NPCs for a miniscule amount of gold as many times as you like. Go and explore the possibilities!
      - Good combat system with every weapon having its own combos. The only grudge I have with this system is the fact that it's quite basic - only a few moves per weapon type. This, however, only speaks of the awesomeness of this system - it's good, so I want more :P
      - Great world and its lore. The team behind the game is the one that created Morrowind, and the world's lore was written by R.A. Salvatore, so you can expect a good thing. Same goes for the visuals of the game that - despite its age - still look good (those were designed by Todd McFarlane - the creator of Spawn).
      - Definitely a metric fuckton of gameplay hours. If you're going for the sidequests and such, it takes a looong time to complete. I've been playing for over 36h and I feel like I'm not even in the half of the game yet (I'm doing a lot of sidequests and faction quests before pushing the main quest forward).
      The bad:
      - Its origin is clearly visible. It was created to be an MMO, and only later in development was it turned into a singleplayer cRPG. It show a lot in its VAST world filled with quite menial quests most of the time. The thing that pains me the most is the "here, have a choice, it doesn't matter anyway" approach. If a quest gives you a choice, it won't matter in the end, really.
      - Overleveling. This could be bad or good, depending on your point of view, but in general it's impossible not to overlevel the game if you're going for the sidequests. You'll outpace the level of your enemies in the region well before you're done with it. Again, this has to do with how big the world is and the fact it was supposed to be an MMO that wanted to drive the player through all of its areas before the player reached max level. So prepare to deal with one-shot enemies a lot if you're trying to clear the area of quests (that's the bad thing) OR prepare to leave a lot of quests behind when moving on, possibly boosting the game's replay value (which is the good side of the coin).
      - At higher levels (around the half of max level) you could get bored of your chosen path if you don't reset your points, and that's due to the fact that even though the game offers a ton of different ways of playing, it's only truly visible when you actually try many different ways. If you try and stick to just one, you can get burned out, due to non-stop repeating the same combat moves. My personal advice here: Pure sorcerer, although powerful as hell, can burn you out quickly. I've started as a pure sorcerer, and it basically means spamming Mark of Fire all the time, as it totally outclasses all other damaging skills in the game.
      - An odd decision of not allowing the player to jump, or at least jump off of ledges other than in very speicifc spots often gets in the way of exploration and sidequesting. Many a time you'll have to do a lot of legwork, and then some, because instead of dropping of a ledge, you have to run all the way around, because the developers didn't think of putting a "drop down spot" in there.
      Overall:
      - Even though it has its flaws, it's still a mighty good game that'll keep you invested for hours upon hours, and will provide a good fun during that time. I have my fair share of grudges with this title, but would still highly recommend it.

    You definitely missed the mages circle in the dragon age games. Not only is membership basically required if you’re born with innate magical abilities, but the only way to get in is to be deemed ready for the initiation trial by the first enchanter. Then and only then are you allowed to go through your “harrowing” a ritual in which you are chucked into the land of magic and demons itself, and left to figure out how to escape and complete the trial on your own. Oh, and did I mention, if you’re not deemed worthy by the first enchanter, you’re turned tranquil, meaning that all your emotions are taken away. Or, if you are one of the lucky few deemed worthy of the harrowing, but don’t figure out how to escape in a certain amount of time, or worse, get trapped in the fade or die to one of the demons in there, you are immediately killed by Templar knights, standing by for this very purpose.

    Wrong. The worst Fallout faction is The Railroad. And that's because of sheer stupidity of the concept. Imagine, you live in a wasteland, where you struggle for survival every day. Even in large settlements, you can die of hunger or dehydration. Bandits are constant threat. Any time you get out of your village, you may not see it again, because virtualy everything out there wants to kill you. And living this kind of life, you will start a civil rights movement? Yeah, right.
    But even if, why is it limited to Synths? Where is League for Ghoul Equality? Or Super Mutant Acceptance Association? You know, organizations, that want better conditions for someone, who's ACTUALLY still human... in a sense. Ghouls, in particular, are pretty much the same person they were before they became Ghouls. That is, until they go feral. Nobody gives a fuck. But when it comes to piles of circuits and metal, suddenly, it's completly different story? No, Railroad is bullshit, and completely out of place. It's like having gay rights activists in 7th century Middle East.

      +Jake Johnson The main part of my argument lies in the first paragraph. It would make perfect sense for rich, developed society, such as western world today, to have movement for the rights of artificial organisms. Somebody, who doesn't have any real problems (and let's face it, our problems are laughable, compared to those people had merely century ago, or compared to other parts of the world) may find meaning of life in such activism. And nothing against it, I would probably support this movement. But this is about context.
      In Fallout world, it just feels completely out of place and forced. This kind of society doesn't have time for big philosophy questions like "can artificial organism advanced enough be considered a person, or is it still a machine, no matter what?" This has priority no. 1254 in the life of someone, who lives in the middle of radioactive wasteland. I won't deny there could be people, who don't belive all Synths are bad, or maybe think they can be pretty human. Hell, a lot of people could even have Synth friends (and don't know about it). But I seriously doubt, under given circumstances, anyone would put time and effort to Synth rights organization. People just wouldn't care. It's not because they're bad, they just wouldn't think about it in the same way, we don't think about right to vote for apes, even though there are individuals smarter than some people. You look at it too much in 21st century optics.
      That's my problem with the Railroad. Bunch of people occupied with something, that's not really pressing issue, while people are dying left and right. Maybe the Railroad is just a satire of present day activists and I just didn't get it. But if Synth freedom was just one part of their goal, that would be much better. Or if it was founded by a few rougue Synths, and some humans joined later. That would be more believable. Or if they were minor faction, widely considered a bit crazy, but not a really a threat.
      Btw. inhabitants of the wasteland live in a world, where slavery, racism and barbarism (to use your worlds) is pretty common. And it's humans doing this to other humans. And for Brotherhood and Minuteman, yeah, they are here to help humans but... they don't do very good job, do they? From what I've seen, they could surely use some help with that.

    • @philiphunn194
      @philiphunn194 8 років тому +4

      The Railroad mean well, but they're dumber than a box of rocks. The best ending for the Commonwealth in my view is an alliance between the Minutemen and the Brotherhood. You've got the beginnings of a civilian government with the Minutemen and a dedicated (if aloof and slightly capricious) military force backing them up.

      Or once in a while just randomly manage to make some kind of sense.
      Or come within sight range of anything logical.
      Basically, all KoA dialogue is like Skyrim's Thieves Guild dialogue.

      The "dust, dents and scars" and "polished armor means you haven't used it yet" of the Ironfast Warsworn is making fun of the Helmsgard Warsworn. The Castellan (leader) of the Helmsgard Warsworn keep demands that all the members in his keep keep their armor polished (thus the "Mitharu defend you if there's a stain or scratch on your armor") and generally is more concerned with appearance than actually fighting. He is the one that is not the brightest of fellows, and his stupidity and not listening to his member that is smart is how a powerful artifact was stolen. The Castellan of the Ironfast Warsworn is more concerned with fighting ability than appearances, which is why the members say the things they do.

      WhammyTime91 But we could find power armor all across Commonwealth. We don't really need BoS Power Armor.
      Back then in Fallout 3 and NV, we need to join Brotherhood because it is one of the few means to learn how to "use" power armor. But the Sole Survivor here doesn't need the training because he has the Pre-war military training / she has the Pre-War knowledge to use the said Mech

    Honestly, every guild in FO4 is worth joining, each has their own perks, the brotherhood gives you free power armor, and what is essentially a quick escape in the form of a vertibird, the railroad gives you Ballistic. Weave. The institute allows you to call on backup whenever and wherever, and if you put in enough time, the minutemen can be called to your side from most areas in the commonwealth, and can fire what is essentially a mini nuke to and from anywhere in the commonwealth (minus the southeastern most areas of the glowing sea) and can be rather good for survival as they mark settlements on your map which you can turn into what is basically a resident evil save/safe room and they are scattered all over the commonwealth saving you precious time walking from bed to bed just to save your game

    You guys really don’t understand how good the Brotherhood of Steel is
    First of all, the first mission you do with danse allows you to stock up on ammo for your energy weapons, plus a free energy rifle at the end of said mission (which i overused)
    Second of all, power armor, FREE power armor, most other power armor found in the commonwealth requires you to either go up against an extremely powerful legendary enemy or pick through a master or expert lock
    And lastly, the vertibirds, call in one of those and you can go from one side of the commonwealth to the other, even if your overburdened (and it’s fun as hell)
    Of course there is their racism and bias against non-humans but that’s just one of the things that makes them good, don’t believe me? Then board the prydwen with Nick Valentine as your follower, you’ll be drowning in laughs
    wanna know why? Here is an example of something that made me laugh
    BoS member: “no machine should be allowed to have free will”
    Nick Valentine: “why? Jealous cause you had to turn yours in?
    I died when that happened 😂😂😂

    • @lord_destros2188
      @lord_destros2188 4 роки тому +1

      Yeah same I overused righteous authority even when I'm doing a sniper and pistol build. And the interactions are pretty gold too. Alright now onto your causation of racism to the brotherhood (but yeah they do have a bias) firstly they only kill the dangerous stuff (ferals, super mutants and synths (I'll go into better detail on synths)) and synths aren't actually alive (well you could make a case about gen 3 but they are still machines too) they are machines in which are incredibly dangerous if they are left in the wrong hands, ever heard of the broken mask incident? The institute even somewhat admit to it (it's hard to find and I haven't found it yet I only know about via a video on it). My point is that the brotherhood and the minute men working together would be best for the commonwealth.

    What about the thieves guild in Gothic 2?
    You have to trigger the quest to catch them by talking to Lord André and tell him that you want to join the militia. Go and haggle with the barkeeper at the waterfront to ask and pay him - twice - about some work. Then you have to play delivery boy and stumble upon a cave with some bandits to get clues. You also stumble across a thief you have to care about catching and let him go (which is something you might not do since you originally wanted to join the militia). If you manage to help (or interfere) with the guilds plans enough a guy shows up and hands you a rusty key (or he attacks you) with no information about where to use it.
    And if you manage to find the guild the only thing they offer you is a quest and to teach you how to picklock and how to pickpocket.
    Something you might already know how to do.

Realistically though, there are no good factions in fallout, ever. The reason I side with the brotherhood time and again is that at the very core of it, their principle of "make sure this shit never happens again" is just plain strong and simple, and they get shit done.
